Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Asks for Feedback on the Game's Quests

Despite Cyberpunk 2077 being divisive, many fans still saw potential in the title and believe it could eventually reach that greatness they were expecting with more updates. Pawel Sasko, the lead quest designer for Cyberpunk 2077 asked on Twitter for feedback on the game's many questlines. Quests that were positively mentioned were those that had an engaging and narratively rich storyline such as Sinnerman, the Aldecaldos questline, and the questline involving River Ward. Quests that were often brought up as ones that needed improvement were the Cyberpsychos side quests where less story and more combat was involved.

Many fans found the Cyberpsychos questlines to be generally forgettable and were more interested in questlines that further immersed players in the world. Despite being a divisive title, fans still want to see Cyberpunk 2077 evolve and that is part of the reason the feedback on Twitter was generally given with respect.

On the one hand I praise their continual attempt to try to improve the game.
But this should have been done before it's release.
The Witcher 3 didn't need this kind of player feedback to have many amazing quests.

Ive heard Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk has some of, if not the best side quests design wise.

Id like to know what makes them great?

Fuck me, when devs look for help from the "community" it's an automatic fail.
Why though? Who better to get feedback from than from the people who played/play your game?

Don't focus groups/play testers etc perform a similar function?

Disclaimer.. I'm not defending the game btw. Cdpr really shat the bed with this title. Just genuinely curious about why you think it's a fail to ask the community

Then why hire anyone, why even be in business? This is a very talented group and if they cant execute their vision without seeking outside help, so they can take credit in the end? They should hand in their walking papers. At least they hired modders who have been fixing their trash, Bethesda just steals all those ideas.

I'm sure I am in the slim minority but I actually like the game, the bugs could definitely be worked out but the dialogue on alot of the missions keeps me playing.

Pretty clear they're putting some internal presentation together that relates to the development of the expansions. I had a good experience with Cyberpunk and really look forward to the expansions next year, especially given the nature of a couple of the games endings and locations/events alluded to throughout the narrative.

A bad look for CD Projekt Red. It’s not uncommon when providing a service or product to ask for feedback, but when you are a company who has made The Witcher 3, asking what people thought of their quest design, clearly with the intent of improving… It’s like Nintendo asking people how they thought Mario controlled.

Id like more quest chains that end up being more than “go here and kill guy”. What if you investigate a crime scene then that turns into a high speed car chase which ends in a ware house where a large scale fire fight takes place?

Dead Space Remake hast failed.

What? did they start the stream and ask, "We asked the fans what game should we copy/ paste into a new engine instead of actually having to work on new ideas and they said DS. We were relived knowing we have nothing new to offer and they were more than happy to replay the same game again"

? Not at all, this is pretty standard in the software industry. Performing retrospectives and figuring out what your users did and didn't like is critical.

Pretty hard to make future decisions or take corrective actions otherwise.

There actually was a quest like that. You investigated a place, a van drove away fast, you chased it, you ended up killing some Militechs and you hacked a van that was giving you info on the Mayoral candidate.

Are you asking me something or telling me something?

They have been working with the community on the Dead Space remakes and said they have been before that stream.

As an easy example, there was a video a few years back for GR Breakpoint where they flew in all these losers who were "long time GR community members" and were said to be providing feedback. I automatically said, this is an automatic failure, why? Anytime "community" is used, it has failed and once again I was right. i think feedback to 3 dudes sweating in a basement is fine but when unlimited funded game devs are asking for free help, fuck off.

What is there to work on? They are going to literally copy/paste the original into U5? That needs the community?

Fare thee well

My biggest gripes with the quests is not having a way to skip braindances. Once was enough. Just let me cut to the action.

Otherwise, I'd like more guilty-pleasure low-hanging fruit in this game. Let me dye, customize, and really feel the dynamic differences between leveling up a uniquely skilled rpg character. A lot of the perks and weapons just felt lackluster as I continued to unlock them. Some entire trees of builds felt like they didn't really add anything. Could have been a cyberbrain, a stealth ninja, and a heavy automatic gun nut. But I just never felt much distinction.

The main problem with the quests is how they're delivered. Almost every quests starts with a random phone call, when I started the game I drove around the city and ended up with dozens and dozens of quests that I remembered almost nothing about until I chose to mark them as "active" in my quest log.

Remove most of these random phone calls and instead have NPCs track me down, beckon me into an alley, trick me into getting involved, things like that.

The actual quests themselves are all fine. Plenty of decent ones that resemble an open-world Deus Ex.

Regardless, the quests are defenitely not the main problem with this game, exploration/use of the world would probably be my number 1 gripe.

The new graphics alone will make it feel like a new game. Especially since the original launched on Xbox 360 in 2008.

They said themselves that they are changing things.

But hey feel free to judge a game by it's cover. I'll reserve my opinion until it's playable.

i think ur quests are possibly the best part of the game, mr man.

I think other areas should be improved - i think you guys should put more easter eggs and secret items/quests/bosses/whatever on rooftops and in other non-streetlevel locations, since it's so easy and fun to climb all over night city... When I get double jump I can get into the Arasaka areas and they're not particularly challenging or anything, there isn't special super-dooper loot or anything in them... they should be like fortresses that there's a huge challenge to and payoff from breaking into

i like your quests, a lot of them UNLOCKED WHEN YOU GOT HIGHER REP SCORE which I think many people who only dipped into CP2077 to complete/shit on the campaign won't know about. Not all of the quests came from phone calls - I remember the dude with the flaming dick appealing for assistance, for one.

I would like more 'follow the trail,' multi-stage quests, like what you had in Witcher 3. I mean, don't need pheremone trails but being sent to multiple locations throughout the city would be good.

It would also be good if you just made everything a lot harder and more complex in the up-end zones, I mean, maybe it's because i usually don't finish games like this - i kinda just playaround in them - but the feeling at the end of the game that no enemy would be challenging to me was kinda lame. I guess WoW's endgame kinda made me feel like there should be interminable end game if I want there to be :p

What is there to work on? It’s a copy and paste job? Like are you fucking serious? I’m sure Bluepoint just copy and pasted shit too. And you think they’re using UE5 as well?

stop, seek help, get off the internet, return to school.

No, there are lots of people that like the game despite it's flaws. The problem is that there are also large numbers of fucking brain-dead autistic cunts that are incapable of forming their own opinions and just parrot the shit spewed by clickbaiting morons on YouTube.

There's a mix, I think Xbox One/Ps4 users have a genuine right to be pissed off - they were basically scammed by a company who weren't willing to lose the cross gen launch money.

There is however another group of people who I'm less sympathetic with, they're mainly the people who thought Cyberpunk 2077 would be a Life Simulator where you can go out and party, make friends and basically do anything you want (I even saw Reddit comments from people angry because they thought this game was going to cure their depression. Hmm).

The mission design is like Deus Ex, the world etc. is the same as Witcher 3 minus Gwent. The world serves for you to do tasks on the map, it's not a "world".

That being said, from what I've seen their marketing was deceptive and they played into the GTA comparisons instead of making it clear that this was focused on being an Action-RPG.

Its a failure on their part. Do you think Miyamoto would ever say, hey community what should I do here?

you can't compare cdpr to the guy who said "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad."

obviously
