Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Gust have launched the Atelier series 25th anniversary website in English, Japanese, and Chinese.

The first entry in the series, Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg, launched for PlayStation on May 23, 1997 in Japan.

“In May 2022, the Atelier series will mark its 25th anniversary,” the website reads. “Thank you very much to everyone who has supported this series throughout the years. As a gift to you for all your love and support, we are planning various Atelier-related projects throughout 2022, including the soon-to-be announced 25th anniversary title. Information will be announced sequentially, so please stay tuned!”

The website teases six anniversary projects (which may not all necessarily be games), with the first to be announced on October 2. The rest are labeled “Coming Soon.”

The existence of Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream recently leaked through Australian Classification, and October 2 is the date of Koei Tecmo’s Tokyo Game Show 2021 Online Special Program, which will feature an unannounced game.

Kinda crazy this series is 25 years old.

I'm sorry I ruined your thread but all I know about the Atelier series is that the Ryza bird has some powerful, chunkerrific looking thighs so I wanted to celebrate thighs in general. I didn't want to exclude Gay-O-GAF so I've branched out beyond my own tastes as well

Atelier is mainly art and music for me. I tried just one game (Totori) and it didn’t click.
A mega music collection of the entire series wouldn’t be a bad idea, though.

It's kind of crazy it is only 25 years old, seeing as how many mainline games we've gotten. I think there has been like 22, so far.
Yeah they have been super productive although to be honest most of the PS3 games all looked like the same game over and over again. Ryza was the first significant visual upgrade.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I've only played Ryza 1 and 2, but they were both fantastic games.

I tried getting into some of the older ones, and just couldn't. But I'm excited to see where the series goes next!

There's an older woman who explained on her Youtube channel all about the Atelier series.
Look up "Food4dogs" sometime when you curious.

I played the first two, which were wildly different from what the series seems to have become. They spam these games out so fast now I sort of write them off as shovelware.

The Atelier series is always one of those JRPG series I mean to go back and play from the start, but then I read that the beginning entries have an over-arching timer which just stresses me out the whole time about not maximizing my efficiency, so I don't believe I'd enjoy that. Then later, I heard that they got rid of the timer, which I likely would enjoy more, but then I regret not experiencing the games in order.

So, in summary, I want to play the games but it stresses me out so I don't play them instead.

From what i've read the series consists of multiple contained trilogies and its fine as long as you start up from one of these.

The dusk series (the one i'm playing now) has a time limit, but from what i read its a rather generous one so running out of time usually isn't a big concern.

If that still bothers you, Ryza has no time limit and its the beginning of a new storyline of its own, so you could also start from there.

Shallie (last game in the Dusk trilogy) didn't have a timer IIRC.

I thought other than being more primitive, Marie and Elie were similar to what they make now.

Unless you mean the first games that actually left Japan, the Iris games. The Iris and Mana Khemia games were different.

(I found Ryza to be somewhere in the middle of the usual Atelier games and the Iris/Mana Khemia games. I haven't played Ryza 2 yet.)

I love her channel, its great to see someone so passionate about gaming despite coming into the hobby later. Her collection is great too.

Well I'm pumped, looking forward to whatever they have planned, hope its good. I wonder who all will show up in the new game?

Do you know if Sophie has the timer? I think after the last time I looked into this series, it was the one I decided to try to start with..

I have the Iris trilogy on PS2 (only played the first one though) and they seemed very different games from the PS3 ones in terms of style and tone.

They were different than that even, they weren't traditional J-RPGs, they kind of combined it with like a simulation game. Venturing out of town was basically something that just happened in the menu. They were very unique games.

Apparently it doesn't. Seems theres some events in the game that happen in specific timeframes but the game itself doesn't have any time limit to complete the story.
