Sonic Colors Ultimate on Switch takes flak for release bugs and crashes

This is the shittiest statement from a developer.

Who fucking cares a bug is "outside your control"? Fix that shit, customer's wallets worked extremely well when they bought this thrash.
she isn't a dev though, but a messenger, her job is for the companies involved to say "we're workin' on it" or "we're doing this" trough her.

Picked up the Switch version, no issues yet other than the music being worse than the original and long load times.

Good for you. Does it have a day one patches or anything like it?
Also, I heard it has music and sfx mixed as the same tune option meaning you can't low one or another seperatedly. Is it true?

I downloaded the game but I am on version 1.0.3 so yes. Although I think I remember reading somewhere that it's the update that kind of screws the game.

And wow, yeah they put sfx and music together for some reason in the settings, That's... weird..

Adventure 1 has awful controls, a camera from hell, glitches everywhere and some character levels are just pure garbage. And then there are the animations in cutscenes, and... omg... like, wtf, who was responsible for that xD at least that is kind of a comedic value right there

Adventure 2 is good overall, but some of the side character levels can be a bit shit imo

Depends. Sonic Adventure 1 has the unfortunate situation where every port of it is absolute shit. The best way to play it is on the original Dreamcast or use this mod for the PC version which brings it closer to the original Dreamcast version. If you did play the Dreamcast original and your opinion is on that, then i disagree. Adventure 1 is a good game, allthough marred with some awful filler.

Just completed Ultimate today, overall a pleasant playthrough but I have to ask what the hell happened with Terminal Velocity?

In act 1 I died so many times to the purple robot that I had to search up if I was doing it wrong, I looked at the Wii version though and noticed what was wrong. In the original the robot shot the lasers out of the openings that it has on it's top, in Ultimate they messed up the position of the lasers, now they shoot out the inside of the robot which means you can't see the center laser glow and barely see the left and right ones. How does that happen?

Also on the final boss the last hit screwed up on me and I died and had to start over. It also wasn't a good fight imo so yeah, I hated this section of the game.

Also what's suposed to say to a bug that's it's caused by emulation and not the game?

One or two bugs from a person playing on emulator doesn't suddenly make tons of real ones dissapear. DF John Linneman even said that the PC version is barelly playable.

I've never seen such a bad port (port, not remaster, nor remake, let alone reboot) in my life.

They completely fucked over one of the most important elements which is the graphic design and AD by replacing pre-baked like that gave textures their color vibrance and dynamism with a useless real-time light, and worst, they hid the result by adding a background blur and an ugly uncalibrated bloom (which apparently provoked glitches), and added completely superfluous mode, comestic and wisp...

I really don't understand this "It's the emulator inside the game, not the game itself". It doesn't matter, it's not a consumer's problem who paid for a working product.

As a consumer, you pay for the final product, and the final product has to be good. The problems behind the game are irrelevant for the consumer. The developers have to fix the problem in every way possible BEFORE selling the product. It's like selling a car and then say "If you have a problem with the tires we can't do anything, we don't produce the tires". It's something really stupid.

Indeed.

The game is not being emulated, it is a port. A ton of bugs you see were made through a Switch emulator running on PC.

There are some bugs as well on real hardware, and they will definitely deal with them, this is their responsibility. However, they don't have to do anything about the game not running properly on whatever third party emulator people use instead of a real Switch.

You car example is bad by the way. A better example would be :
I bought a car that requires a specific size for the tires, and I fitted truck tires on it. Car does not work. Fix the car.

No.
Games already have many tools made by external developers, for example video player, net code, etc. Emulator is just one of those.
If you use a tool, and the tool is not working, don't release the game or use another tool, or help the developer of that tool to fix the problem. Definitely, you don't go to the internet saying "our external tools are not working, it's not our fault".

The Switch emulator for PC has nothing to do with the developers from Blind Squirrel and is not their responsibility, they don't have to do anything about. This is not a tool they use or whatever, it is totally unrelated to their works.

Just as not SCU problem if an unofficial emulator doesnt work as it's suposed to.

Are you defending that it's OK for any game to take flak for fabricated bugs? Really?

You don't understand my point, maybe it's me 'cause may english is not that good, I don't know.

My point is not who develop what, nor problems internally between developers. There are many example of tools made by third parties or a game made between more studios. A recent example could be Shantae on Switch, a developer made the emulator, Wayforward made everything else. Imagine if the game didn't work and Wayforward said "Complain with the MVG guy".

My point is developers, and I don't care who, have to fix the product BEFORE the realese, BEFORE people paying for a buggy mess. Not after with the excuse "It's not our fault". Problems with the develop are none of customer's business.

It's not like the Bleemcast version of GT on Dreamcast were the responsability was all on Bleem because Bleem was the only developer for the only product you bought.

The GBC emulator for Shantae is INCLUDED in the commercial release, of course the developers have to make it work. The Switch runs the emulator that runs the game.

Here, we are talking about whatever Switch emulator people are using on their personal computers to run the game. There is NO emulator in the Switch cartridge of Sonic Colors Ultimate. It is a direct port developed for the Switch hardware.

Imagine that SEGA was releasing Sonic 5 of on MegaDrive nowadays : it would not be their responsibility to fix all the MegaDrive emulators out there (Gens, Kega, PicoDrive, Blastem etc...). Or like your example : this is like asking Konami to fix Bleemcast because Metal Gear Solid does not work on it.

Fabricated bug? Are you nuts? First, bugs from emulator are not 'fabricated'. Second, those 'bugs' people keep using as an excuse are just 5% of this game problem.

Even if you remove this from equation, there are like 50 real bugs that destroy the game. I guess Sonic fans need to attach to somethink because there are tons of bugs and they just keep saying 'bru fabricated, fake bugs'.

Just to remember:

Just to remember:

Emulators add bugs that OG games dont have.

It's ok to criticise a game for the bugs it have, but it's shameful to criticise it for bugs that doesnt have.
Do whatever you want.

Took you long to copy and paste the same garbage gaming journalists have been brainlessly repeating?
"Glitches everywhere" is just objectively false. Even if you play the bad PC port, which I did, I only faced one glitch in the egg carrier. Naturally, my personal experience doesn't reflect the reality of the game. But neither does yours. So you can search for playthrougs of the Dreamcast versions and count to see that your "glitches everywhere" doesn't hold up.

And the same thing can be said for the controls. Did you try playing it using your brain and holding up when you intent to move forward? I know that's quite the complex task but even you can do it.

And about the animations. Yeah, the 1998 game with cutscenes made with the engine didn't hold up. Just like many games using that technology. The only legit criticism I can say is that they shouldn't have tried to animate facial expressions, given the limitations.

Try playing the game and thinking a little bit instead of repeating overused debunked garbage.
