Think for once. Why pay $7.5 billion and still release on other platforms after existing contracts are up when you could've paid $0 and Zenimax would remain multiplatform anyway? Doesn't make any sense does it?

TBH that's not stupid at all and would still make sense - being the owner means 100% revenue/profit goes to your pocket, as oppose to just the 30% royalty fee from XB copies.

Mojang is part of the Microsoft family, and Minecraft came to PS5. I can’t see any reason why ESVI wouldn’t realease on PS5. Bethesda/MS will stay make their hard-earned money.
Lol some of yall come up with this. "It'll come to PS5 cause of the monays heuheuheu" - that's not the idea of all this, they can still make their hard earned money other ways using the PC platform or so.

So spend $7.500.000.000 to make a couple of millions a title in revenue extra. Yeah I don't think it does make any sense at all to that solely for the extra 30% in revenue you'll receive.

The reason to do this is to grow the Xbox brand and Game Pass. With essential titles as The Elder Scrolls and Fallout are I know people are buying Xbox consoles for those or even chose to be Xbox exclusive after being PS exclusive before or if they have capable PC's they will subscribe to Game Pass to play those games day one when they release on that service. You don't spend $7.500.000.000 and then continue to release those games on your competitor's console to help sell them more consoles. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever!

Minecraft was an exception because it was freakin Minecraft. C'mon people.

I still think it makes sense to make GaaS games cross platform, like Elder Scrolls online. Any game that needs massive player bases to create communities or (mainly) to make match making times lightning quick will still make sense to go broad.

Single player games make less sense to release on other platforms though.

I wasn't going to purchase it for PS5 anyway, Skyrim and the Fallouts ran like shit in PS3.

I'd say there's a 95% chance of it coming to PC Gamepass, so... yay for free.

I'd say there's a thin chance, as the series has been on previous PlayStation's and well Skyrim has been pimped to everything. 2-3 year exclusivity and then mass rollout including Alexa later.

Anyone surprised by this probably also expected Halo and Gears to release for PS.......
Making clickbait articles out of obvious ownership circumstances....must be a slow day again.

I always thought it was going to be exclusive to xbox after the acquisition so this isn't news to me. If Microsoft bought the studio and Sony hasn't paid to put it on ps5 then just think of the game as exclusive to microsoft platforms.

Lol I've been trying to tell them M$ is just throwing money away making terrible business decisions.
Spending money up front to grow a user base is a standard business practice. Amazon, Netflix, Apple and others have used it for years. You think Apple Music or Apple TV made any money in the first year?

all you succeed in doing when you say stuff like this is notify people that in real life you have no idea how business or money works. Sad.

Makes zero sense, since that extra profit would Come at the expense of Gamepass subscriptions.
They want more Gamepass subscribers. That’s their play. That’s why they’re acquiring more studios.

Minecraft was already on PlayStation (and every platform known to man) when MS bought them.

On Xbox I mean. I don't think it will ever be on PS5/6/7. It could be time limited on Xbox to increase consoles sales before letting it go on PC.
Nah its always day and date on console and PC if it's shipping on console on release. PC first is another story.

Even then it would be streamable so

Then I am happy because that would be pretty much the only reason I would feel obliged to purchase a gen 8 9 console. My 1070 will handle it probably, though at the time of release (2024?), I might been able to upgrade to a better GPU.

2024? More like 2025-2026. By then I'll have a 5000 series card, and let's be honest PC will be the best place to play it given the wealth of mods and bug fixes these games receive.

That would be quite a "finalfantasyfifteen" delay if so but yeah, who knows. I don't think the team working on the space game is the same that work on ES6. Either way, I just hope it won't too much over simplified ES, I missed the old days of Morrowind.

I think some of the same people are working on both. And Howard said this recently:

Bethesda boss Todd Howard has given a brief update on The Elder Scrolls 6, which is still many years away.

The hugely-anticipated Skyrim sequel will benefit from following the upcoming Starfield, Howard said, whose new engine is already being used for TES6 prep.

"The [new Starfield] technology, Creation Engine 2, is sort of built for both," Howard told The Telegraph. "It's like a new tech base. The vast majority of our development development work is on Starfield right now but everybody works on everything so the projects kind of intertwine."
But even with some staff working on The Elder Scrolls' series future, Howard was careful to make it clear that its next fantasy RPG chapter was still a long way from launch.

"It's good to think of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still being in a design [phase]," Howard concluded, "but we're checking the tech: 'Is this going to handle the things we want to do in that game?' Every game will have some new suites of technology so Elder Scrolls 6 will have some additions on to Creation Engine 2 that that game is going to require."

Sounds like it's way off. I think the first thing is ensuring Starfield isnt delayed /buggy as hell. I'd put money on the latter which would mean resources are taken up post-launch.
