Isn't Aspyr like a mobile/portable consoles porting studio and a publisher? Did they actually ever develop a full game from the ground up before? I know they technically wouldn't do this "from the ground up", but still, I doubt it will recycle engine and game mechanics and they will just update models and textures, KotOR is kinda old and janky by today's standards...

My favorite part of this announcement is so many people on reddit , here and other forums falling all over themselves about exclusivity trying to reassure themselves one way or the other. The game is not even a 2022 game but people can't help themselves. They have to know whether it is exclusive before they can say they love it or if it sucks.

Bro, MS dont own the IP. Sony must have approached them first since they have much older relationship with Disney and Lucas. Its not that simple plus its launch exclusive to PS5, will come to Xbox
Also, lets not get too excited for a game made by mostly unknown studio.

Well, if you're on Xbox, you can play the original at 4k/60fps through backwards compatibility.
I'm sure this new version will look great, but it's still the same game.
Also, what owner of the OG Xbox original game hasn't already played it ten times? Let the playstation community have a little KOTOR love, too.
None probably. But Sony has more than just dev studios, e.g. mocap studios, sound stages, plus all the other stuff that goes into a first party production like QA. If it's published by SIE there will be plenty of Sony names in the credits.
