David Jaffe has Heard that the Next GOW is Around 40 Hours Long

Although I don’t need games to be long to enjoy them, GoW2018 was amazing so I’ll take this as a very good thing.

The same shitheels who come in here and cry about a masterpiece like God Of War being 30 hours long turn around and put 200 hours into mediocre, soulless collectathons like AC:Valhalla.

I don't care about the length, my biggest issue with GOW (2018) was enemy/boss variety absolutely sucked, for AAA high budget game, there was lot of obvious reused enemies and bosses.

Is the story 30 hours long? Or the entire game? Cause that's a good length if you include optional content.

The first game has some issues with its pacing, so I hope this isn't the time for the main story, or, an indication that the game has moved towards an even heavier focus on cut-scenes that eat up the run time.

That first back tracking walking section to Alfheim and the entire end sequence dragging out were the only examples I know of and they're both pretty bad. I just hope all the forced walking sections and loading screen hiding sections are gone.

Can't say I'm a fan of 40 hour games these days. I like to spend around 20 at the maximum. That being said there are exceptions to the rule and maybe this game is one of them. I do prefer the original GoW games though.
Yeah a short and dense game can be awesome. I played through God of War, Uncharted 4, Ratchet & Clank once in 20 hours or so, I likely won’t touch them again but I only have good things to say about them.

The other side of the spectrum is harder to reach. Long games that don’t stumble and become boring, it’s a tricky thing to get right.

I played Assassin’s Creed Valhalla for about 50 hours, then catched a save bug. Instantly uninstalled it and went on with my life, there is no way I would ever start over.

Then we have BOTW, Cyberpunk, No Man’s Sky, Skyrim, I’ve played them a couple hundred hours each and I still play them. There are bugs and jank and I can find lots of things to complain about, but they still all have something that keep me coming back, could start over in either of them right now without hesitation. These are very rare.

Good. I was pretty happy with the lenght of the 1st game, including all the time needed to beat all the side stuff. If this one is identical then its good for me.

Don't forget there's 3 realms out of the 9 that you couldn't access in the 2018 one, so maybe this is 40 hours with a heavy focus on exploring and playing in those 3 realms (Asgard, Vanaheim & Svartalfheim).

The war between the dark elves and light elves felt like a missing piece in the story. It’s heavily implied that the dark elves are justified for invading the light elves. My bet is we will get a look at Svartalfheim to get a broader sense of what was going on in Alfheim in the first game.

I have kids and I beat GoW and Death Stranding in under 30 each. Lol it’s called time management and skipping the bloated side stuff. Kingdom Hearts 3 took me longer.
You didn't experience Death Stranding if you finished it in under 30 hours. Congrats on wasting your time and money rushing through a game.

On topic, 40 hours is fine.

Underthemayo made a great video on the how god of war was kinda ruined. I mean the new game is great, but it's missing some things that the old ones accomplished

Struggle to think this game is going to set graphical benchmark when its cross platform.

That for me is the most disappointing thing of all to know they've left lots of next gen only features on the table.

I disagree there. There is plenty of story without stopping by every single person. I think I got my money’s worth. I see this get thrown around on here. I played the scenes worth seeing. A lot of the times you would complete an objective and just forget about what you did because the game got deeper or richer. It isn’t like a book or a movie where you skip 20-30 minutes and you’re completely lost. Please don’t come at me with this. This is like telling me to go back to Skyrim or Fallout 4 and finish all the side quests. I completed the main quest and got my money’s worth. Did you do every single quest in all the games you buy? You don’t have to go to every single part of the map to say “I got my money’s worth”. I had a good time with it. I had a good time with Ghost of Tsushima and I didn’t do every single side quests. I got my money’s worth there too. Not all the side stuff makes the game better. This is borderline “you didn’t get the Platinum bro, you wasted your money”.

I bet you are like some parents I know who prefer to be playing that spending time with their kids.
Ok that’s a jerk comment

i bet you are like some jerk on the internet. It’s called time management. Parents must not be able to play games without coming to talk to you first huh?
