Seems like a bigger batch of PS5 normal edition reached Japan.

BTW next week 1 million consoles sold.

Hiska-kun chart.

Xbox sales were not a fluke it seems, looks like the brand will do better in Japan than it did in the One days.

Also was not expecting Tsukihime to sell that well. There's quite a few releases in September that will be interesting to see how they do.

Tsukihime slapped. Think that's about as much as EXTELLA did?
They finally released the Tsukihime remake?
They announced it when I was 19 and now I am 32.
Yeah though it's only the Arc and Ciel route IIRC. Gotta wait for sequel on the rest.

Yellow snek go brrrr. Also only 30k consoles sold missing to reach the lifetime sales of Xbox One. Kinda insane.
That's a really interesting move in Japan for the XSX. I haven't really been following what's going on there, what was the catalyst for this? Would be cool to see this gain a bit more popularity in Japan.

Marketing effort+simultaneous release worldwide rather than retaliation for not giving them the lead on Xbox 360 like they did with Xbox One, mainland europe is getting marketing and all-access program too.

Simultaneous release for what? There was clearly a bump in the graph that the X1 never experienced. Doesn't seem likely related to straight up marketing efforts, and I don't remember any big games hitting in Japan. Has to be a reason for it. Post E3 bump perhaps? And it's not even a bump, it looks like a trajectory shift. Of course that can change, but it's a positive move for Xbox all around in Japan.

Supply and Game Pass. Maybe some influencer.
The big exclusives games are not even released yet. But Forza Horizon 4 and Halo Infinite will push the console a lot.

Xbox Series had simultaneous realease worldwide, Xbox One was released a near year later in Japan and smaller EU markets. Gamepass plays a role because it has japanese games on it as Xbox is getting more and more support on these, doesn't need to be exclusives.

Supply more than anything I think, will be interesting to see how long this renaissance lasts.

Great week for Aniplex with Tsukihime remake selling out both on the Switch and PS4, with digital it's likely to be one of the highest launches of a VN in Japan.

But he means why the trajectory change in the middle. Simultaneous launch would not change its trajectory in the middle but at launch.

I assumed its more likely to just be supply constraints at the moment definitely not as much as other countries. I could be very wrong as there could be series x easily available. I would like to see the xbox graph split into each sku.

Stock. Xbox Series was and I'm pretty sure still is supply constrainted in Japan. They only started sending decent amounts recently.

Supply constraints + everything i've said above, it is constantly reported to be sold out

No More Heroes off to a terrible start. Even the 360 port of the first game did better.
Most, if not, pretty much all of GHM fanbase is in the west, the original NMH sold like shit too in Japan, it was even reported at the time by famitsu that the journalist picked up the first copy at the store where Suda was helding autographs.

ghosts of tsushima held better on ps4 than 5, something everyone should keep in mind as to why games stay cross gen, the first week might be stronger as the enthusiast buys right away, the general audience will make a stronger tail for a while
seems like it held decently for an upgrade though, hopefully it will have a long tail to like 80 k across both versions

I thinks that's true for a lot of countries, even if the PS5 version does better at first it doesn't mean the PS4 version will have better legs.

As we can see from these charts, legs have a huge impact on how a game will sell.
