August Inside Infinite (update on campaign at the very end from Joe Staten)

That doesn't matter as long as they deliver. Halo haters and Sony console warriors are going to crush it no matter what. But for the majority of the people, as long as it is good is all that matters.

Edit:To be clear no one will remember the troubled development or the "Cyberpunk" vibes. If they fail then it didn't matter anyways.

Fair enough mate. I did also say in another post that the tech test generated a lot of positivity regardless of the people like you mention. I thought it was fun and the new music is brilliant.

If they showed some decent campaign footage which a lot of folks want , it would only help the momentum and the longer they leave it the more the bullshit builds up. You know what the internet can be like.

Regardless of what a couple of Xbox fans on this forum think or allude when in disagreement, I only want Xbox to be great across the board and I’m aware of people will have different interpretations of what that is.

Don't play Halo 5 full stop it's really not worth (campaign I'm talking about). Halo Wars 2 is the best bet in terms of story leading up to Infinite, I think.
Is Halo 5 so bad that it’s not even worth a playthrough?
Halo Wars 2 is a strategy game, I’m really not into that. If it comes down to just going through the story I can read a summary on the net.

Just play Halo 5 - don't listen to the haters.
Its got playable Blue Team (John, Linda, Kelly, Fred) levels for the first time in Halo history. The soundtrack is great and there's some interesting locations you visit.

People hated how the H5 story panned out - but it was originally planned as a trilogy. They never released the 3rd game to finish the story arc. Infinite seems to jump ahead in the timeline to allow a fresh start.

Sounds good, I’ll do that 👍

Bug fixing happens at the end. That’s how software development works. They also have until release day to finish the day 1 patch, which there will be. Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary.
I'm just saying it's not a definitive yes that the game will be polished as you said

Uhm yes it is.
This isnt some kind of magic.

But keep believing the 343 pr bs
What's PR about stating that the team is fixing bugs and polishing the game? We will get footage before release anyway just let them get the game to where the whole team is happy before showing it. The showcase last year was basically a far from finished game, animations were missing, horrendous pop in etc I guarantee no one at 343 was happy showing the game in that state, so be patient and let the team do their work.

He is right. The PR team would need material from the game development team to capture footage and they do have to take away time to deliver a demo or trailer of a completed slice then getting approval, editing it, and making sure what they are showing is good. They can't just rip the game in debugging and go at it from my understanding. Of course they should have time to create trailers and demos under any normal circumstances, but it is what it is.

Either they are going to wait until the game goes gold to show it, or we'll see it in the coming weeks when they think they're far enough. I just think they're prioritizing the games completion over footage at this point, which I wouldn't agree is the best decision, but Staten and co. probably don't want a repeat of the previous showcase. The game hasn't had smooth development and I'm impatient as well, but it really isn't as easy as hitting the share button on a completed game for the consumer.

Cool, I’ll do it 👍
Ehh if I were you I wouldn’t do that.

I’m new the the Halo campaigns with Halo:MCC ever since I got back into Xbox with the One X in 2019. Within 1 years time I played Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo Reach and believe me I was totally Halo fatigued after the 3rd campaign.

Skipped 3, 4 & 5 so that I actually feel like playing Infinite rather than feeling like I’m overdosed on the series.

Halo isn’t like GTA or something where each game is extremely distinct etc so playing several of them in a row in a short time span can be a total overkill. Just watch a recap of the story or something on YouTube rather than trying to go through the entire series at once.

I’ve only played through Halo 4, back on the 360, enjoyed that a lot. I think if I get ”Halo fatigued” from playing Halo 5 a generation later then the IP isn’t for me.

Ah if you plan on just playing Halo 5 yeah that’s a different story. I tried to play through all the campaigns and realised it wasn’t going to happen.

Yeah only Halo 5, I’ve played some already but not finished it, feels polished.
I skipped the original trilogy, just dipped the toes, but tried again in the MCC release but they felt too old. says the guy posting about a Commodore 128 elsewhere lol

CE is still the best in the series, I just felt 5 had lost all the soul of Halo and the game just went too vertical in terms of level design. Infinite seems to have gone back to more like the original but I really hope they've got some surprises in terms of new enemies.

Absolutely play Halo 5 campaign.

It ends on a huge cliffhanger. Half Life 2 Ep2 lvl.

Play Halo Infinite only after that.

No idea why anyone do otherwise.

I recently finished it for first time. It's polished and slick, 10hrs. Will fly by quick.

I think you had to be there as a fan on the original Xbox to appreciate CE now. I played a demo of CE on og Xbox and it made me want to puke, couldn’t keep stable 25fps on PAL Xbox. Played about half through Halo 3 though, it was alright. Tried CE again at the MCC release, smooth fps but felt barren and old. People are always down on 343 here but Halo 4 is the only Halo that has kept me interested til the end. I liked their cinematic approach and the graphics were among the best on the console. Never play MP though. 🙃

There's a chasm between "a buggy mess" and "super polished" though. It's not one or the other. The chances of it being a "buggy mess" are close to zero.

Halo CE is a slog to play these days. It hasn't aged too well tbh. So much backtracking and long empty corridors, and the movement is just archaic.

So let me get this straight they had a poor showing in the campaign so delayed the game a year. Then we have had E3 and Gamescom and they still didn't show campaign again. Now they saying they don't have time to create a gameplay demo due to bug fixing as well as pushing back features like Co-Op. For me personally this doesn't sound good but who knows they may surprise, but if I had something good to show and had a bad showing before Id show it off as soon as possible.

Honestly, the game doesn't seem ready for launch.

... but, even if 343 had more time could they deliver a good game?

If you're lying...please lie to me more.

I do feel a bit better knowing that a few months out these guys are hitting it hard and prioritizing. The December 8th date still worries me though. Couple with the fact that co-op and forge is delayed just screams "rushed" to me.

Sad to say but I planned on buying this from jump, but now I might just download it on gamepass and decide whether or not I wanna go get a box copy.

Better to have people working full day crushing bugs than making trailers that's for sure

But we want a damn gameplay video, you own us after 2020 reveal...

Only thing that makes me give a free pass for you is that the game is free and the multiplayer looks hot and already pretty much playable
This is not a one-man-studio. This is a studio with hundreds of employees. This is a studio that can also lean on external support from shared services of XGS.

The people fixing the bugs are not the people who would be making a trailer or promotional footage.

The people making the trailer and footage need the game to be operational and yes need some engineering work to provide the tools they need to get the footage they want (scripted sequences, non-first person camera shots [like in the Halo MP trailers]).

Was it really a disaster though? I mean 85% likes and 15% dislikes roughly.

I think the general consensus is, most people were happy with what they saw, could the game look better visually? Definitely.

I think most the hate was the minority on social media parroting the same Craig meme.

But I'm happy they delayed the game to deliver extra polish etc :)

But I don't think the showing was a disaster.

I doubt that ratio is really representative of how the game was received.

Thanks for pushing me, I’m already at chapter 6 after the guardian encounter, enjoying it quite a bit, and it looks nice 👌

Not rushed, just that it has been so poorly managed, they now have to prioritise.

I am not even confident that coop will be available within 3 months.

Thanks all you who pushed me to play through Halo 5! 🤝 Finished it today. I liked it! 6 years later and it still looked amazing at times 👌 Ended too fast though. And it feels like there is a gap in the story going by the Infinite trailer. What happened to Master Chief, and when??

I never thought Halo 5 was bad. I think people just expected to play with Chief the whole time and not with 2 different squads. Glad you enjoyed it.

Did you play the other Halo games? Guardians was the worst IMO

Infinite takes place 2 years after Halo 5. Right now there hasn't been much revealed about what has happened in that time. We'll likely find out when the game launches.

Ah, that’s kinda cool actually, I like it. And after 5 I look forward to play Infinite more now, I want to see where they take the story.
Fredrik Fredrik If you wanna prep for Infinite's story Halo Wars 2 explains a lot including the main antagonist.
Cool, not really my type of game but who knows I might just jump into that next, Gamepass for the win 👌

Been trying but I don’t like the original trilogy tbh, I know people say they’re the best but I have no nostalgia for them and they honestly feel too old now imo, too static. I think I played about half of Halo 3 though, it was pretty alright iirc. Halo 4 is the only Halo that has kept me interested til the end up until Halo 5 now, really liked the story on that one.

cant they just release 1-2 minute video of someone playing the campaign? or 5 minutes? they dont have to make it super fancy, just show us that the fucking plane isnt in the process of a flaming crash landing lol
But that would require them to stop spouting bullshit and actually show something (which won't look like any of the bullshit they've been spouting). At this rate, these asshats won't be letting anyone review the game until after release because they don't have time to distribute review code, because you know, they're focusing on making the campaign so great and some other bullshit 🙄
