Favorite "bad" games

Hey GAF, was wondering what are your favorite "bad" games. Games that aren't really held in high regard but more importantly, bring joy to you. For me such games are the Sonic Adventure series and Custom Robo on the GameCube. What about you, GAF? What are your favorite "bad" games?

I might get some hate for this one, but.........
Medal of Honor: Warfighter (multiplayer)
The single player was really bad and I didn't even put an hour into it.
But I really liked the MP. It was hard to get into the game mechanics, and I guess that why a lot of people gave up on it, so soon.
It also had a few bugs. But gunplay, game modes, the buddy mechanic, all clicked with me.

Didn't come up in the is this already being discussed thing as I was making the thread

Critics really did not like this game, but I loved it! It's just insanely fun. High speed thrills, awesome set pieces (you get to chase King Kong up a skyscraper), lots of fun powerups, very challenging, and tons of shortcuts.

I think the bad reviews are a combination of the admittedly ugly graphics and bad soundtrack, and the fact that old school arcade style experiences aren't very respected in the 21st century. It's short and not very meaty, but you'll have a blast playing it, I promise. Definitely ignore the review scores for this one. I constantly hope for this to become a cult classic one day.

I don’t know if it’s valid now but I’ve played No Man’s Sky for 450+ hours and I enjoyed it at launch too, spent 20 hours or so on my starter planet learning the language and talking to aliens and doing I don’t know what.

I low key love janky ass RE clones, shitty budget action-adventure games, and just bad unintentionally hilarious horror.
Currently looking forward to Quantum Error, Tormented Souls and the sequel to Daymare 1998.

Zelda II is awesome! It was really influential to later games in the series. It gave us magic, towns, introduced the concept of different Links and Zeldas and the concept of Ganon's constant resurrection/reincarnation, introduced the story element of the three main characters representing the Triforce with Link being courage, Zelda being wisdom, and Ganon being power, more fleshed out NPCs, bosses like Dark Link and Volvagia, and even the names of OOT sages come from towns in this game.

And I love the mix of RPG leveling/stat building and sidescrolling action-platformer gameplay. Arguably influential to the development of the Metroidvania genre. And I loved the challenge this game threw at you. We really need a new sidescrolling Zelda, even if it's a spinoff.

Ngl, I actually prefer this to the original.

C'mon son. I get the troll, but "Games that aren't really held in high regard" certainly doesn't include BOTW, which on review sites and in general outside of this forum is easily one of the most universally acclaimed games of the past decade.

Now, that's a better answer, always a black sheep of its franchise.

This game, along with FFII and III to a smaller extent, were badges of honor for me back in the day. Just ruthlessly fucking hard games. The value in the product wasn't in fancy cutscenes or a gripping narrative, it wasn't in entertainment, the value came from slamming your head into a brick wall a thousand times and having that wall crumble the thousand and first. There are drugs that have less of an endorphin rush than beating Dark Link legitimately.

I'm going to buy the new Aliens game soon, guarantee I'll have some janky fun

Zelda II isn't a bad game.
Most of the games listed in this thread aren't bad. Many are great games and highly acclaimed, but have a vocal minority of people who like to hate on them (Red Dead 2, The Last of Us Part 2, Breath of the Wild, etc).

I had a great time with this game. A friend and I played through it multiple times on all difficulties, I played it on my own, Mercenaries was amazing, and Agent Hunt was fun and something totally new to me. It's viewed as a bad game, a bad RE game etc., but I enjoyed the combat system, characters, and over the top story.

I stand by this post. RE6 is an incredible third person shooter.

Mega Man X6 hits that sweet spot of fun to try to break. Above the atrocious levels, soul grinding, rough translation, inconsistent soundtrack, recycled enemies, wonky controls (hello pit diving saber slash!), joke weapons (Z-buster still sucks), is a far more fascinating experience than the series' many other weak games could ever be.

At least by today's standards Fable 2 and 3 are quite bad. If not bad, average or lackluster in every single area there is. Weird, muddy, Xbox 1 looking graphics brought even more down with motion blur everywhere. A story that I can't remember anything about 10 years after. Caricature characters that I can't remember anything about. Very basic gameplay and the look and feel is very generic at first glace (or any glance).

But there's something extremely relaxing and charming about the game world that I can't put my finger on. Call it endearing, or whatever.
