Should I get an XSX or a PS5?

cute list, 400ish games on gamepass right now but yeah its cute making a list…
When has it ever been quantity over quality? Are those 400 pure quality? Absolutely not.

From my brief browse of the library earlier a huge amount of the titles seemed to be old 360 games and outdated games of the FIFA 2018 ilk.

The games actually worth playing are low double figures imo, probably teens, and I say that as a fan of the service.

But each to their own.

About what I expected (y)

a good chuck of those games are on gamepass as well, yeah got a few “bangers“ like god of war but most are remasters of ps3 games or medicore games like days gone. With a 40:1 ratio yeah I’m sure there is much more for you average non MS hating gamer.

Loved my PS2 and PS1 but gotta go with XSEX and game pass. Really felt for the PlayStation exclusive folks over the weekend while I was happily playing quake1 death match on game pass!

edit: I see now it was also released on ps5. Carry on

Your post is nonsensical.. it literally doesn't make any sense.

what on earth :messenger_grinning_smiling:

But I think got the jist of it, quantity over quality. Personally disagree but like said before each to their own.

xss was never in the question and you had to go off topic like usual in most threads and mention it.
The astroturfing is sad.
But you can't help yourself.
You didn't even read my response. I mentioned the PS5 quite prominently. In addition I didn't bring up the XSS I responded to someone else mentioning it so if you have a problem take it up with them. You could always ignore my posts if they trigger you so badly.

rounded up my bad
What? :messenger_grinning_smiling: you managed to 'rounded up' to 16, had we been using decimals?

But anyway I'll always prefer quality > quantity. Guess you're different and absolutely need all the out-dated versions of EA Sports titles.

xss wasn't a option period

I'm going with the PS5 due to the fact that i usually enjoy Sony's 1st party games more. Although I might buy 3rd party games on it for the Dualsense features and to continue building up my trophies.

You really can't go wrong with either one. The XSS is also good if you can accept how much weaker it is then the other two. It might be great as a secondary Gamepass system though.

As someone with both I’d recommend the XSX because MS seems to be more willing to invest in bettering the ecosystem as far as Gamepass, supporting games beyond what the developers put in, more 120fps support etc. BUT if you care about Sony’s first party that much get it. Can’t go wrong but it seems that gamepass + XsX is the overall better investment to me. After returnal all the games I wanted to play , hades , Psyco2, 12 minutes , flight sim are all on gamepass. Hypothetically is I bought them on my P5 id be down 150$ plus.

Alot of those games you listed are on gamepass plus gamepass is day and date released.

Well I’m sure all of those 400 games are just awesome🙄
I’m still working on my backlog of PS4 games. So I would rather play better games on a better system.
Glad you liked my cute list though 👍🏻

the majority of those games aren’t even the best versions….

Personally, I'd choose an X (or S) simply because of gamepass. Save your money and invest.

This is a very salient point.

I retired earlier than most…diligent saver and investor, etc. But had something like Game Pass existed earlier chances are I could have retired even a little bit sooner than I did. There were periods in my 20’s and 30’s where I spent a shit ton on games and if I could have invested a little more in, let’s say, Apple and Microsoft (though I’ve had long standing investments in both) the compounding effect on those investments would have been even more powerful than they have been.

If you are a big time consumer in the gaming sphere and have an eye on your finances, both future and present, I think it’s borderline questionable NOT to jump into the Game Pass ecosystem.

But I also have very little doubt that PlayStation is working on their own version of it as I’m typing this.

I now have both and I think Xbox Series X will be my main Multiplatform console and the PS5 for the Sony exclusives.

One thing that struck me is how highly priced the Sony games are (like one hundred and twenty AU, it’s crazy) which really drove home the INSANE value of games pass ultimate. Also PSN runs super slow compared to Live.

Yet, I have been really wowed by the PS5 so far. Even replaying old games like GOW at 4K/60 hammered home that some of those Sony devs are wizards.

I’m not helping am I....

The good thing about Gamepass is that it is curated pretty well. Sure, a turkey or two ends up there and obviously individual taste might throw you off a good portion of games, but it is definitely not a service that is all about quantity.

It is fine being a diehard Xbox fan. Rock on.
Love my PS4 Pro just as much bro, and probably have an equal amount of games on each. I just think by the time Sony's second revisions of their consoles come out, the library has had time to grow (plus you get great deals on greatest hits versions). Plus you have to admit, since PS3 the second version of each console has been a bit better than the previous, be it more drive space or a "Pro" version.

You don't need to be so antagonistic towards people. It's really off-putting.

That is pretty cool they have games available you like👍🏻

This is the thing though. Personal taste is the ultimate factor. I just went through the entire list of console games again and there was 13 games I was interested in that I didn't already own on Xbox/PC/PS before they went on Game Pass. I'm sure we could maybe(?) double it if we combine the PC and Console lists. Throw a couple others in that I've already played through Game Pass like Gears 5 or Outriders. We maybe have 30 games total of 400 or whatever. I'm not saying Game Pass isn't really cool, but it all comes down to the individual.

I think Game Pass is really cool, and a great supplement to the consoles but people defend it like it's the messiah of video games. Sure it may be to you (not saying you specifically), but to others it may not be worth more then a single month or two and would never factor into a console purchase. It's the same when PCMR talks about the thousands of games, and endless backward compatibility. Again it all depends on the person, and even as somebody that plays more on PC right now then anything else I'm almost completely un-interested in the majority of the traditional PC exclusives. I'll be resubbing this Fall either way for Forza and Halo.

Not to get too off topic but it the gamepass argument reminded me of it.

Right? It’s pretty cool to be open-minded about different genres/types, discover new ones and find ways to enjoy them, for different, but fascinating reasons. It feels good!

Lately my Series X has been getting much more play than my PS5, but Rift Apart is a must play IMO. Also if you’re a fan of Ghost of Tsushima the new DLC is fantastic as well. I love both consoles though, and I’m glad that I was lucky enough to get both at launch. Gamepass is absolutely amazing. So many games…so little time…and there’s so much more coming to Xbox in the near future.

Edit: Also, things like the backwards compatibility support, and auto HDR/fps boost are amazing additions for Series S/X as well.

These things are overlooked a lot. Today in the AC Odyssey thread people were asking for older AC games and Far Cry 5 to be updated to 60, and my first thought was “they already are.”

It’s funny how easy it is to take it for granted once it’s already there.
