Should I get an XSX or a PS5?

Open to both, get PS5 in a few years when there are more exclusives and cheaper games , 70$ games is ridiculous. Xbox has you covered on both fronts with GamePass.

This I can approve of, even though it's not for all games.

It's for all Microsoft games. There hasn't been a first-party game on Xbox that charged for the next-gen upgrade. Every first-party (or Sony-connected in the case of Death Stranding) upgrade on the PS5 has been charged so far.

If most of your library is PS4 and you want the exclusives of PS5, I would get the PS5 as a primary console.

You can always get an Xbox later for GamePass, or if you don't mind the reduction in visual quality, get a cheap XSS. GamePass will always be there later on. I'm eventually going to pick up an XSX but only when there are compelling exclusives I want to play. I am also hoping that Microsoft revamps their controller to compete with the DS.

I always go with Xbox because I like the controller a lot better. That's the deciding factor for me. Otherwise you'll get plenty of great games with great graphics on either system.

You really do need both. I went with PS5 first then XSS. Loving the options honestly.

Just from my personal experience, Xbox is currently winning with the services, the backwards compatibility makes me want to support digital, the xcloud stuff feels like its from the future, and gamepass is honestly a joy. Playstation at this point is going to be an exclusives box, but you can't skip it. There will be too many awesome exclusives. Whatever order you go with should be based off that. Dual shock 5 is also a better controller but they both work okay.

Whatever you find first.

Of course I would say PS5 but I just love the exclusives and I am a PS fan. Demons Souls, Astrobot, R&C, Returnal, Sackboy, Miles Morales, Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, Death Loop, Guilty Gear. Even something like Destruction Allstars is decent enough, it's just not on the level of the other stuff obviously.

FInal Fantasy Remaster Intergrade is another excellent exclusive too.

There are also things like PSPlus collection, PSplus monthly games and your back catalog that you might consider also. If you have lots of games that you have yet to play bought on PS or Xbox, you might feel inclined to buy one or the other based on that.

PS5 will cost you more, in terms of games particularly.

So if you just want to pay 500 and a monthly sub, probably go with Xbox and GP.

If you want amazing exclusives and money is no issue, go PS5. It has many more exclusives than you'd actually think at this point, particularly high scoring ones and Horizon, GT7, GOW and Ghostwire Tokyo are around the corner too.

Get a PS5 now - better first-party and second-party games available and coming, better controller and audio, plus more of your friends are likely to own a Playstation.

In the meantime, save up for a PC - you'll have access to Steam, GamePass, and superior performance if you so choose.

If Sony didn’t win you over with the PS4 and the launch of the PS5, and money is a relevant issue, buy an Xbox an try it for size. Cant say they aren’t giving it a go, and you seem inclined already so do it.

It’s going to be a long generation and you can course correct later anyway.

Literally nothing here is objective truth. I own both but it’s just a fact that the XSX has the better upcoming first party games for the rest of 2021. The audio is also better on Xbox especially if you don’t rely on headphones but on a sound system.
Finally this poster is forgetting to tell you that a truly superior PC will cost you 4 times the price of an XSX.
Whatever you do don’t listen to this guy. I don’t care which one you buy but this is typical fanboy advice.

He's right though.

If you have a pc, just invest in a gaming pc or laptop and you're good to go.

I have all three (PS5, XBSX and PC). If MS keeps things like this next gen this will be my last Xbox console. You don't have to have a top of the line PC to enjoy Game Pass.

Do you like the Sony exclusive games? If so, get a PS5.

If you prefer what MS has to offer, then go for an XSX.

If you have the funds, then go for both of them.

It's that simple.

Why are you spreading bullshit? Better sound, since when?

Also who cares if it has more first party games coming up in 21 when the guy has neither a ps5 nor a xbox, and the former actually has plenty of first party out there already.

You’re the one spreading typical Xbx fanboy drivel, erasing reality and spreading fiction as you see fit. It’s like a disease y’all share, and it’s no wonder the minions are already patting you in the back.

"it’s just a fact that the XSX has the better upcoming first party games for the rest of 2021" - oh yes listen to you because you're not a fanboy at all, you just tell it how it is lol.

"A superior PC will cost four times the price of XSX" - this poster must spend all his time shopping in Harrods 🤡.

I hate when people who are clueless about PC gaming start talking about it, and ignore the 'hidden' costs of console gaming.

Personal taste. See the games u want to play and buy the console...
This. Don’t even factor stuff like game pass into the equation. Look at current releases and future releases and buy the one with the most games.

I have both and I enjoy both, but my Xbox gets turned on to watch Ghost Adventures more then to play games. That will change with Forza, Halo, and Battlefield but for now it barely gets used.

Pick the console that has or will have the most games u enjoy. Both consoles are good picks for this gen, its just a matter of what kind of games are you into.

If you are into Monster Hunter World and you are a console only player get an Xbox so you can play Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. The gameplay is phenomenal but right now there is not much content. But Sega is adding more content in the winter and the game has the potential to be great.

This is the worst advice in the thread.

No Flight Sim on One X, ancient loading times and most games stuck at 30fps instead of 60fps. Moving forward no Starfield on One X next year, no Deathloop or Tokyo Ghostwire next year on One X. No Redfall next year either.

Forza Motorsport, Fable, Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2, Perfect Dark, Hellblade 2, Everwild - forget about it.

In fact, after Forza, Halo and Psychonauts this year I don’t think there is a single Xbox game coming to the One consoles.

One S|X will be obsolete within 4 months (they already are judging by the 30fps shit tier performance of Forza, Halo and Psychonauts).

When the edge browser is updated Xbox One X will support gamepass all those games will be playable at 12 tflops streaming

It usually works fine for me but some games sometimes don't work like 12 minutes lately. The console experience is much better and smoother overall too .
Weird. Actually, in saying that, I’ve always had problems with Forza 4, I was never able to get it working. But that’s the only one. I love the streaming feature as well :)

I have an XSX and have had zero technical issues, even when upgrading to XSX versions. But I also have a PS4 and wanted to get a PS5.....but never available and the design sucks. I'll wait until they have a new version and the technical issues are worked out. I've heard lot of issues. I will get it though next year.

It's already obsolete

From what I read just go with PS5 and you will be happy without regret. When it comes to quality and variety you won't be disappointed and you already know that

I started with Series X, will buy a PS5 down the line. Game Pass is incredible value. But I wouldn't want to miss the PS5 exclusives either.

In what way?

Content-wise it has games from pretty much every possible genre there is.
I'll just rather own my games outright. Not into the idea of paying a monthly fee of essentially renting games.

More than likely, if it's on GamePass, I'll just wait for a sale to hit.

It doesn't make sense to focus entirely on the "rest of 2021" for first party. The selection of games already available are just as important as the games to come.

Not really. Perhaps if you have an Atmos sound system, but otherwise it is no better or no worse. Headphones, I think it is better on PS5 with Tempest. And Tempest will soon be available on home theater as well. The fact that USB audio output is on PS5 opens up a number of options, however, that are not available on XSX.
