Should I get an XSX or a PS5?

Follow your heart, bro. I bought the PS5 and have been loving the new controller and the few exclusives for it. If you want to try something new and different maybe you would want the Xbox for those franchises if you haven't played them.

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
I would recommend Game Pass for someone new to gaming. However, OP already said he has a preference for Sony exclusives. In his case, Game Pass should not be the deciding factor. Quantity isn't always the solution.

one could argue you will get more out of gamepass if you are coming to it new, so many free updated last gen games you prob missed. Huge library to explore with new high quality games.

OP never stated he doesn't like Xbox exclusives either...? He is interested in both platform's..
No but he specifically said "but most of my library was on PS4 and there a lot of PS5 exclusive titles I want to play now and in the future." It is my opinion but if someone tells me they specifically have games on one console they want to play and give a generic "there seems to be some good titles coming soon" for the other I would recommend they get the console they know will have the games they want to play.

I used to manage an EB Games and one rule in my store is we never told a customer what console to buy no matter our preference. We were not the one taking it home to play it. It will not hurt my feelings what console OP ends up buying but people shouldn't get blinded by hype of one service when it might not have all of the games on it that they are going to want to play.

If you can afford a PS5 DE then you can afford both a normal PS5 and XSX with GP.
Those expensive Digital games on PS5 are not going to be worth saving the $100 up front when you buy the console.
Just get them both UHD editions.

It depends.

  • Which system has the better exclusives to you?
  • Do you happen to have a Gaming PC?
  • Gamepass can be a compelling reason to go Xbox, specially if you want to save a buck with games.
  • Do you already have invested in the ecosystem? (meaning, to you happen to have a lot of games from the last gen)
I my case, a have an affinity with Playstation and its games. I can consider have both systems but if I had to choose, I tend to go with Playstation, love the exclusives and the whole experience around it.

I currently have both system. Back in 2020 ps5 was flate out better because of Demon Soul remake, let be honest Series X have NOTHING in 2020. In 2021 it ain;t a super sure thing anymore. ps5 currently have Returnal, which is not bad and not everyone cup of tea with roguelike gameplay and Ratchet and Clank, which look nice and fun but is pretty short. If Horizon is delay then ps5 do not have any more heavy hitter this year beside deathloop. Series X just release Flight simulator and will have Halo and Forza Horizon coming out really soon.

I didn't know ps exclusives were on gamepass lmao.

Whatever goalposts you just tried moving just failed terribly. But continue your "astroturf" parade 😉

Now, you will get more from the Xbox SX than from a PS5. If you can only have one console and you want it now then I would say you are better off going with the SX. When it comes to long term perspective it boils down to if you want Sony The Games or not.

You might not be following the conversation. I listed games available on PS+ instead of game pass since I was recommending he go with PS5 since he already knows of exclusives on that system he wants to play. So, thanks for the concern I guess.....

Why not wait until one of the machines convinces you on its own merits instead of asking for personal opinions on a forum?

Yeah, so I’m on the fence on which one to buy. I like Game Pass Ultimate and the rewards system for buying digital goods and there seems to be some good titles coming soon, but most of my library was on PS4 and there a lot of PS5 exclusive titles I want to play now and in the future.

What would you go with if you were me? I mean, I can get a Digital PS5 for cheaper than an Xbox Series X too so that’s a factor as well.
Can you really get either one right now. Most ppl are getting whichever one they can get their hands on first.

But the PS5 will be the way to go .. PlayStations have always had longevity.. They'll be supported for yeeeears with content, historically Xbox hasn't been supported till the end. This generation though looks like we'll need both to get the best out of this generation. So either way

I have a gaming PC, and pretty much every game that is going to be released on the Xbox is also going to be released on PC. So for me, I'd go PS5. If you ever think you might get a gaming PC then I would go ahead and get the PS5 since most (all?) of the Xbox games you missed will be available later on when you get a PC.

One gives you next-gen upgrades for free (and seamlessly, no installing a new version or uploading old saves), the other charges for them.
This is one of the huge reasons im preferring my Series X for some things,

Another would be the fact I trust MS with my digital back catalogue more than Sony at the moment since people are quick to forget if they didnt kick off Sony would of really not done BC (and it shows with how shit it is).

“GAF, what should I have for dinner tonight?! Chicken nuggies or spaghettios???”

…I want to believe OP made the thread in good faith and not to warmonger but you never know around. It is a nice chunk of change to drop on a device.

Sorry OP, you're gonna need both soon.

If you can't do that, choose the one with more of the games you will play. I can't pass up the PS5 library, so I would choose PS over my SeX 100/100 times

I honestly feel like the Series X lineup combined with permanent Game Pass day ones from its exclusive lineup coming from Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda makes Series X the obvious choice.

Halo Infinite
Forza Horizon 5
Starfield
Psychonauts 2
Elder Scrolls 6
Forza Motorsport
Redfall
Next Gen Doom
Contraband
Avowed
Perfect Dark
The Outer Worlds 2
Fable

Even the timed exclusive bethesda games sony has this year and next, Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo, are also going to be permanent game pass day one releases. Series X is the definitely going to be the RPG console.

As of now nothing has yet to convince me that Xbox won't have the overall better exclusive lineup this generation. But no one platform has a monopoly on all the games worth playing, so naturally like me and other gamers you'll want to have both, but the must have one for now to me would seem to be the Series X.

North America is Playstation territory. I love that Microsoft tries but Playstation brings more to the table.

North America is by far and away where Xbox sales their most units and I bet especially in the US sales between PS5 and Xbox Series is damn close to each other.
True but the SONY does a much better job, it's a Nintendo, SONY focused market in North America. I bet a Nintendo or SONY is in someone's living room than an Xbox.
