Should I get an XSX or a PS5?

I never pay $100 per game. I buy physical from major chain stores cheaper or wait a couple weeks and buy it used for like 30%-40% less.

Plus PS5 Exclusives are better imo and GamePass is full of bullshit filler. Its $16 for Gamepass Ultimate a month. Not worth it, I used to have it for a long time and cancelled. Good AAA Non Xbox Exclusives are up for like a couple months or so and then they take them off. They had RDR2 up for like a few months.. You know how long that game is for someone who doesn't play hours and hours everyday? it's a joke!
if you don't have the time you can always buy it... usually they're 20% off the MS store if they've been on GP for a while or are about to leave...

or just buy it like you normally do

I can only speak about the Series X thus far. It's my first Xbox and I'm very impressed with how well everything works and all the features. Fantastic system imo.

Sounds like Ps5 might be more up your alley though if you already have a lot of Ps4 games. Maybe get a Series S for now and a Ps5 when you are able to catch one?

Just like you could try finding cheap deals for PS5 games you could try finding cheap deals for Gamepass. I’m paying $5/month for GP Ultimate until 2024. Most definitely worth it. 👍

What I'm doing: got a xsx now for the value of gamepass and better machine overall, but you can't deny Sony exclusives, so if things go right, I'm going to get a PS5 down the road, but I'm not getting it now just to play 3 games

Take a month off from gamepass and play them.

It doesn't affect your ability to purchase games.

Makes more sense to only subscribe if/when there is a game that I want to play. That's why I do using MS Rewards points. In either case, I personally wouldn't make a platform decision based solely upon that possibility. For me, PlayStation has far more compelling games. But that's me and every one Is different. That's why I say follow the games. If they take you to Game Pass then that works just fine.

If I buy it I would buy physical used. Even at 20% off it would be too high price.

The point I was making is GP is not worth the $16 per month to me, besides Forza I could not give two shits about MS current exclusives either except now they have Bethesda also but besides that lol, I'd rather invest in my PS5 ecosystem because that's where the games are that I want to play.

I had a One X and might get a Series X later if there are new MS Exclusives I want to play though. I'm sure there will be a few if MS gets their shit together and actually delivers on the great games they have been promising for more than a decade.

Give 12 minutes a try. Awesome game!.

On my list along with Psychonauts 2.

Well ofcourse if you like exclusives from a company decisively, you wouldn't be asking this question.

But most people are open to playing new games from different platforms. In that case such things can matter.

Third party games are now cheaper on Xbox overall because Sony has stopped allowing major retailers from discounting PSN cards like they used to. I can still routinely buy Xbox and Nintendo cards at a discount. Combined with the jump to 70 dollars for their exclusives, I’m turning more and more to my Xbox, which I never did last gen. Sony actively being assholes is a real turnoff.

Which is right in line with what I said, follow the games. If they take you to a different platform then there you go. Being open to playing on different platforms is exactly my point. My fondness for PS games doesn't get in the way of that.

Don't know how to help.

If you cannot afford buying a lot of games, XSX is the way to go. With just 15$ per month, you get the creme de la creme of Microsoft games.

If you cannot live without PS exclusives, go snatch a PS5.

You can always get one now, and the other after 2-3 years.

Is it worth it to buy gaming pc if i don't play many games? I dont play most of the games on PC like strategies, games like dota, lol, footbal manager, i used to play csgo(3-4years ago) but i got bored with it after 2000hours lol

I mostly play fps games like battlefield and racing games
Dude you definitely don't need to PC considering how great these consoles are and your choice of games.

I only recommend PC now if you play PC strategy games and if you're a really competitive gamer. Otherwise no point for a newcomer.

And by that I mean a PC. Sony exclusives might take more time than Microsoft’s day 1, but with patience, it’s the ultimate platform. Plug on TV, start into steam big screen automatically, voilà.

Just get whatever has the games you want to play.

Having said that, if you get PS5, ensure you have some place to hide it because it is one ugly mother fucker that belongs nowhere except a dark cupboard.

Don't bother buying either unless you can get them at regular retail price.

There is very little point in paying scalper prices for a console that:

1) doesn't have much in the way of "real" next-gen experiences
2) is the first iteration and therefore more likely to break/have issues compared to later revisions.

Backwards compatibility and improved older games means it is worth it to get one now. And these systems improvements means you don't need to hold on to the older systems and can sell them without regret.
But I can still play games on my vanilla XB1 and PS4 I got in 2013. I'd rather wait till theres enough games I'm interested in than get performance boosts for my older titles.

I disagree with the first point. You couldn't pay me enough to go back to last gen consoles. They're fucking horrible.

XSX. It has more announced exclusives going forward.

This is not something you should ever base a purchase on. Imagine buying a console because you thought Scalebound was gonna be awesome.

Obvious answer, if you want to play returnal, ratchet and clank, demons souls horizon when it's out and god of war sometime in 2022 then get the ps5.

If you want an insane amount of first and third party games in game pass and play Halo single player and multi with some forza horizon action get the xbox.

If money is tight I personally think an xbox with game pass is mega but of you are happy to pay 70 dollars to play games then go for ps5. I personally only think returnal is worth the cost of investment. If I'd bought the rest digitally at full price I'd feel sick.

Yeah, so I’m on the fence on which one to buy. I like Game Pass Ultimate and the rewards system for buying digital goods and there seems to be some good titles coming soon, but most of my library was on PS4 and there a lot of PS5 exclusive titles I want to play now and in the future.

What would you go with if you were me? I mean, I can get a Digital PS5 for cheaper than an Xbox Series X too so that’s a factor as well.
Look at the games both consoles have now and will have in the future and make your decision off of that.

This was my plan as well. Then came Returnal, interest rising, and then came Ratchet & Clank and that was that, insta-bought first chance I got.

I think it depends on how much you like Sony exclusives. If they are some of your most anticipated games then go for a ps5.

Otherwise I'd say go with Xbox since you can get a ton of value from Gamepass and at this point the library of both consoles is like 98% the same.

Ideally you'll probably want to get both though I think even of you plan on doing that getting an Xbox first makes sense. Then grabb a Ps5 later when it has more exclusives and they aren't all $70

Hard to say as I have both. I find myself using the Xbox more for some reason which is odd since I’ve primarily used PS these past gens. It’s like my Xbox is the car I use to commute to work and the PlayStation is that vintage thing I drive in the country on weekends.

That's a good question to even ask, the bad thing is which one to get when either one of them is available to get. For me, I would say get a PS5 if you get lucky enough to even find one. As for Series X, it depends if you don't have a PC or a good internet connection to run cloud gaming through xCloud. I got the Series X to hold me off till more PS5 becomes more available to purchase. But if you want a program that allows you to play games without paying a lot for anything. I would go with Xbox for Gamepass. But again if you have a PC then you don't need an Xbox. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Both systems offer good things.

Since your open to both.... I'd advise you to buy which ever one is available. Both are hard to come by especially the PS5.
This is the true answer get whatever you can find first and buy the other one later. Right now the exclusives on PS5 put it over the top but I’m also counting PS4 exclusives I’ve enjoyed playing through at better frame rates that I didn’t finish last Gen.

I know the reason for me is Gamepass vs buying games for $70 (or €85 in my region) very few games are worth paying the premium for on PS5. Both Ratchet and Returnal I got on “deals” for €60 .. at least they were cheaper than the msrp.

PS+ collection and games you get are decent also.

PS5 now and 2024 you can get an Xbox if their promised games are released and are good.

This gen really looks like both are going to have some killer exclusives so get both eventually if u need a;l the good games. Personally don’t have that kinda free time anymore so Xbox/gamepass combo is more then enough for me now so can wait on ps5 till some big games I really need to play build up.
This is my post all typed out for me and ready to go.

I have an S now (which is kind of a next gen stepping stone console if we’re honest with ourselves), but I’ll eventually get a PS5 when they’re in stock.

Once you experience Game Pass you will know you’ve made the right decision.
I would recommend Game Pass for someone new to gaming. However, OP already said he has a preference for Sony exclusives. In his case, Game Pass should not be the deciding factor. Quantity isn't always the solution.
