Hell no. I switched from console to pc last year for the first time in 15 years and what a game changer it is.

With Playnite I got my own couch front end, I can control my pc completely with my Xbox one controller. I will ALWAYS have 60fps locked, no matter what game there is coming.

Games are a fucking bargain. On PC you will never pay 70€ again for a day 1 game. Ever.

It was also never a better time to make the switch to PC IMO:

- MS and Sony exclusives aremore and MORE coming to PC. This NEVER happend before.

- Games are becoming more and more crossplay, so I can play even MP stuff with my controller. Also my friends can still be on consoles and we can play together. Latest example is the borderlands 3 fuckery that Sony did.

- The hardware you are getting on pc never lasted longer than now because of dimishing returns.

- You never have to buy a cheap made remaster that just adds higher resolution. Just play the game on PC, even with mods if you want.

-EMULATION! ever tried F-Zero GX or BOTW in 4k? This alone is so worth it.

I've switched to PC gaming + Switch.

What would bring me back? Easy: console exclusives I want that I can't get on PC. E.g. release a Viewtiful Joe remaster and I will buy an XB / PS in a heartbeat. I've always liked what Sony / MS are doing but I just need the content.

I decided to go with the LG CX 55 inch Oled screen, atmos sound system with the xbox series x, and 5 years of gamepass > high end pc. No regrets. Hopefully I can get my hands on a PS5 soon. All about what experience you're looking for.

I built an RTX3080 / Ryzen 5600 gaming PC (huge effort trying to buy that GPU at MSRP but I did it) and use it connected to an LG CX like a console with controller (no desk/kb mouse setup).it's exclusively for gaming.
I also bought a PS5 recently.

but I'm actually considering selling the PC and buy and Xbox Series X to go with my PS5.

being in my 30s,I just don't have the patient or interest in dealing with PCs endless updates of drivers, windows and constant trouble shootings.
I also don't find having to worry about tweaking all these different settings in games to get the best outcome fun anymore (I used to in my younger PC gaming days).and I think spending this much on a Gaming only PC is simply not worth the enjoyment I get over Xbox Series X + PS5 at fraction of a price.and using it only few hours a week,I don't think I'll get neraly enough value in say next 2 years when these parts are outdated.

these new console came a long way from pathetic hardware of last gen.(owned PS4 from launch then Pro and original One and was disappointed by weak hardware)
give me 60FPS and I'm a happy man.bellow 60 FPS I agree it's sluggish unplayable for me.but they can now do 60FPS easily.being a controller/couch gamer also makes consoles a much better choice and I can put a considerable amount of cash back in my pocket too.

I absolutely see and agree with your point. I personally have 3080pc and ps5 but recently any time I want to do something on a pc, it does not work or when I play a game I think... ehh should g with ps version as it would be less hassle.
That said - 3080 is amazing and technically way faster than new consoles. I kinda have the pc for older games and old steam library... adn obviously older games have always some troubleshooting which is ... fine.
As for new games, for now ps5 is getting more use and 3080pc is for sure not justified in my case :p

yeah man,I spent days figuring out why COD Cold War wasn't starting on my PC ,and now Doom Eternal keeps minimizing/crashing on latest GamePass update..I mean it's an on going hassle and the nature of PC gaming,I just don't have the heart to deal with that kind of nonse sense anymore.

yes the 3080 is amazing, but honestly, when playing Ratchet & Clank and even Miles Morales on PS5,I was thinking is it really worth paying that much for an RTX3080 PC build? I mean the PS5 looks great.how much is the difference between RE Village on 3080 vs PS5/SX version?

again last gen they were 30FPS which even then was very disappointing for me even on single player hames.but 60 FPS fluidity makes ALL THE DIFFERENT in immersion.

and that was just the PS5,the Series X + GamePass will be pretty sick..PC is not worth it for me anymore.(and I really don't NEED the PC money,it's just a waste in my opinion) specially since I do the erst on my computing on a Mac and PC is for gaming only.

I've finished re8 on pc but played all Demos on ps5... ps5 has better anti aliasing since TAA actually works there :p Pc can of course ho above 60fps with 3080 (around 90+ maxed 4k)
And a super cool dualsense triggers and better 3d sound than pc.
Some ps4 games have 60fps patches like TLOU2 or God of War which is fantastic.

Pc is still a better deal games wise as games are cheaper even outside of gamepass.

Btw as you speak about issues - I could not launch fahrenheit remaster recently, ascent menu was not working and game stutters like a nightmare, Gamepass forbids you from changing files so I could not add new dlss to doom eternal... and some other issues. Everything solvable but every single thing I do recently on pc have some small issue :p

I was thinking opposite, going from consoles (PS) to PC. There are some pros but also some cons, and the cons are bit bigger than pros, for now at least, but we'll see things may changes, since all Sony games will comes to PC a steam account would be the winner, but thing with PC is price/life duration before it becomes outdated, all the drivers stuffs and cie, and a lot of hackers online. So yeah it's debatable.

now that you mention it... I started playing some bf5 few months ago and there is a game ruining "hacker" every evening.
You can see someone teleporting, immortal, auto aim or just team tickets going down 10x faster :p

Yeah, i've also seen what's happening in games like Tekken 7 and Red Dead Online in the PC side and it's quite ugly to say the least.

I think I'm going to switch to the Switch (seriously no pun intended).

I don't have a dedicated gaming/entertainment device right now, and I find myself sitting at my PC almost all the time (partly because I work remotely but also because (1) the sofa is small and my girlfriend is always in the lounge watching TV and (2) I have these two large monitors that just make consoooooming content/media so much better on my PC.)

Funnily enough I don't find myself actually playing many games on PC anyway, despite having been in the process of building a gaming PC.

Plus, now that my remote job is essentially just connecting to a remote desktop, I really have no reason to keep this big lunky desktop. Especially since I never managed to get my hands on a powerful GPU at a reasonable price.

THIS! Windows is seriously out of control with updates. Sure you can stop most of them with the metered data setting but then you have to deal with other issues from not getting a certain update. I have one PC thats totally dedicated to gaming and gaming only. ANd I have had issues with windows or Hardware driver updates breaking my system. Not to mention that every big update resets all my background service settings. its pretty sad actually.

I feel like this thread and the poll are kind of disingenuous. Most people aren't "switching" to another platform. They are going to have multiple platforms, and they'll play the exclusives on platforms that have exclusives while they use their primary platform for all non-exclusives. Generally people don't say, "I'm getting rid of my Xbox/Playstation and only playing on PC," or vice versa.

THat's why I didn't vote. ps5 might be my main played games platform but pc is nto going anywhere (although it should if I was better with my money :p )

I actually sold my Playstation 5 (not scalped, but sold it to a friend for a bit less than what I paid for it) last month. I have a pretty powerful gaming computer, and I prefer gaming on it. I also have a Switch that I barely use, and a Playstation Vita. My primary is, and probably always will be, PC. That doesn't mean I won't use other consoles for exclusives when/if they crop up.

That's good you were able to decide :)

Sony releasing their games on PC was also a big factor.

I'm a big fan of Yakuza series and when I saw how significantly better they run on PC vs original PS4 Pro (sluggish 30fps almost stuttering frames) I made my decision.
but then after building the 3080 PC, I couldn't resist PS5's features and cool design so grabbed one for exclusives only.

but now seeing how capable this generation consoles have become and what MS is doing with GamePass (which is way better on Xbox vs PC) I'm thinking PC is an overkill for me.

personally anything lower end than 3080 imo not worth it at all over PS5/Series X.(if it's only for gaming) .and 3080 build in my case is like 4x times price of a Series X without even taking into account cost of monitor and peripherals.

not sure I'll get 4x amount of enjoyment and not for long.(3080 probably completely dated in 2 years? right when PS5 and Series X will be thriving?)

It's not just Windows Updates! GPU updates,Motherboard,RGB.Fan monitoring software, and more!
and each and every of them can clash with the other new update requiring a new update of their own and troubleshooting..example..error messages on startup after a certain update..causing some issues in a certain game, fans going loud for no reason, etc etc
all require spending time googling and trouble shooting..it's a constant struggle! I just don't have the patience for it anymore.
I literally had to deal with all these examples in the past 6 months since I build this PC and I used the best parts and not exactly novice in PC troubleshooting.but it's just the way it is on a Windows PC.

Nah. I might get a ps5 somewhere down the line cuz of exclusives but I don't think it's gonna happen due to Sony recently publishing their IP's on pc.
Pc is the only way to properly play games. It's like that expression I heard females say. Once you go black there's no going back. I guess PC is a big black dick. No homo.
I wish there's some analogy I can use with vaginas but there isn't, unfortunately.

Didn't read through the thread but IMO everyone should follow their own path wherever it takes them.

I've gamed a long time and owned many systems. From C64 onward.

Out of modern systems I keep an eye on all of them but have owned every PS, original xbox, PC (still have a capable one), and switch.

Have settled in on PS systems because it's where my preferences took me. Basically it's your hobby and money. Don't be influenced by any issue other than what you enjoy.

I've always had PC + console, but if I had to choose one right now it would probably be console.

Prices are getting too crazy. Even if you somehow manage to buy at MSRP, $500 only gets you a mid-range GPU and there are already games you can't max out when you buy it.

And it's still pretty common to have issues here and there with games not working properly, especially if you want to use Microsofts dog shit PC version of GamePass. Console is just more comfortable and I'm really not as much an enthusiast as I used to be.

x570 chipset driver update is only every 2-3 months... but gpu, uefi (x570 is super buggy), each software.... even rgb software all have constant updates... Either it's all buggy on it's own or it's buggy in combination with new windows updates or x570 (like razer synapse trash).
Windows updates, as frequent as they are, are rather unnoticeable ... most of time

Yeah that's the thing that push me away from PC the most, super expansive and then one year later if you want to sell you graphic card you'll have to sell it half the price you bought it, also as you said, PS5 and Xbox Series S will start having true fully next gen games around mid-end 2022, at that time the 3080 will already be outdated, and i'm not a fan of buying and upgrading all day, i haven't even bought PS4 Pro i was more than satisfied with PS4, i've seen the little gain you get with Pro but it wasn't worth it the to redo the while rebuying thing.

Having a PC to play some old games when you want is cool (specially since Jimbo and Hermen don't seem to care about bringing full BC to PS5), but when it comes to the newest games imo i think consoles is the best choice to pick.

2 years ago i was thinking about getting a gaming PC but when i saw specs for PS5/XsX it just blew my mind. Honestly, back in 2019 if you said that PS5 will have Ryzen 8c/16t at 3.5ghz,GPU comparable to RTX 2080,raytracing, ultrafast SSD, 3d audio, dualsense for 399$ you would probably be banned for trolling😅

Comparing to PS4 when it was released this time is a totally different story.Night and day difference.Best of all most games will have option to play at 1440p/60fps(with AMD Fidelity FX) which is great. Plus i can't wait for PSVR 2😁

I mean take a look at Steam users hardware statistic. PS5/XsX are better than 95% gaming PC out there.

Anyone that would consider switching to console isn't a PC person in my eyes.

I happily play console games but I will never stop using my PC or playing games there. My current setup is PC for most games and multiplats. I have an XSX hooked up to the same computer monitor for 360 games and games where frame rate isn't important or perhaps I want to play with HDR. The PS5 is in the living room and for exclusives only.

All of that said, you can certainly have a great experience with a PS5 or XSX only. They've caught up quite a bit to PC graphically and they are easier to use. PCs to me are more than gaming though and I like having a universal device for everything entertainment.

PC has the biggest library of games you can play plus you can adjust the graphics to be better than consoles with a decent GPU. With Sony caving in and starting to put exclusives on PC soldifies for me PC becoming the primary. I will still continue to have consoles since they're are still exclusives but majority I spend my time on PC for my gaming needs. Since I can pick from games from the NES era all the way down to this gen.

Yes PS5 and Xbox series X are very great hardwares specially PS5, and even more great when you think about the price/values, can't wait for that cross gen cycle will end and we'll starting getting full next gen games.

"specially PS5"?
arent they both basically the same hardware (CPU/GPU) with Series X being slightly more powerful version? (I know PS5 has a bit faster SSD storage)
I have the PS5 BTW.

Yes they're close on many areas, but when it comes SSD I/O tech PS5 is on another level.

Always a good laugh reading things like this...
care to share what you find funny about it?
because that's exactly what happens on a Windows Gaming PC.
it's not like I only had an iPhone and a console and now complain about PC.

True but in terms of GPU power Series X has the edge, and TBO if I had the choice,(on PS5) I'd have gone for more GPU power over slightly faster SSD any day.

I went from primarily PC to primarily console at the middle of last gen and, honestly, I don't think I've missed very much. My PC is basically an MMO machine at this point. I miss the days when PC had huge exclusives. These days it's all shitty indies that can run on a 10 year old laptop or console ports. There's literally never been less of a gap between PC and console than right now.

Video drivers and windows have auto updates and the last video driver took almost 1 month to have an update. I am on windows 11 already and the number of updates are surprisingly small. "ENDLESS". LOL.

I will give you the "constant trouble shootings" if you only and only play some old games that have some fix required on Windows 10/11. But I very much doubt that is your case...

Windows updates happen automatically (set times/at shutdown) and most other things can be ignored. If your PC is new everything should be up to date and nothing needs updating unless something doesn't work. Here's my experience with gaming on PC over the last 8 years: Click play and go. The majority of games work some occasionally need a quick fix via Google. Sell your 3080 to someone who will appreciate it.

I recently got my hands on a base PS4 so I could catch up on exclusives I missed out on and, I’m quite impressed with how much they’ve been able to achieve with 7 year old low-mid range hardware. TLOU2, God of War. Yes, it’s 30 fps and that sucks but it’s extremely stable and well paced 30 fps and there are no hoops to jump through to achieve it. If we continue getting 60 fps options on consoles then one of my primary objections to them goes out the window.

It’s true that PC gaming is easier and more accessible than ever, but it still has issues and I think I had my fill of that for life. I’d be quite satisfied if I never had to see an fps counter or check Pcgamingwiki or even see a graphics settings menu ever again. And I have no interest in researching and building overpriced hardware anymore either.

I mean, I still have objections to consoles, mainly that analog stick aiming isn’t very satisfying or accurate, but I might be willing to compromise.

Ok, that’s enough rambling. I see a fair few members here expressing intention to switch from PS to PC now that Sony is going all in on PC, but is anyone doing the opposite?

Edit: Ey people, I'm not saying I'm going to trash my PC. I'll still use it for my backlog and exclusives but those are usually low spec games.

I just wish you could have played those great ps exclusives at thier best, or at least on a ps4 pro...... 😞

Depends on what game. I've come to prefer playing on console because of the comfort so unless the game isn't restricted to PC I'd much rather play from the couch

as time goes by I find console more and more insufferable. Thing is for pc I can iron out a lot of annoying design choices with just trainers, with mods even more brilliant . There are so many games that are near unplayable on consoles will become gotg on pc. BAsically all Bethesda single player RPGs are this way. spending thousands on upgrading pc is well worth it for me over time. Not to mention i enjoy rts, crpg, simulation, porn games quite a lot, I also love playing and watching moba. There are also a lot of indie horror games that I usually enjoy playing so pc is definitely the way to go. Even games like persona, dark souls are clearly more enjoyable to play on pc. I only buy console game if I really cannot wait, those moments are becoming so rare.

Undecided. Actually looking for some opinions should I get ps5 and laptop or gaming pc.

I like running Ubuntu on my current laptop so gaming pc would have to juggle between two os most likely. I prefer controllers and hate cheating so that favors ps5. With laptop I can watch shows on bed too.

With gaming desktop I could have more power, have all games once Sony puts them to pc. I could do non gaming graphics tasks too.

Price is a factor too, hard to say today what it favors when it's time to make decisions, got to account for ps+ prices as well.

Even pc gaming/hardware enthusiasts often mention that they come to this point with age. From LOVING to do and solve al those things on pc to a point where you just can't be bothered anymore even if you understand it all. It doesnt't have anything to do with interest in gaming in general, but something definitely happens to our brain...Maybe we just get tired.

Maybe at certain age you just want the experience and to enjoy things the most comfortable way (I'm not talking about your seat) instead of working for it, even if what you're getting isn't technically the best possible version. It happened to me and I'm still tryng to figure it all out.

Yes at least for the high end stuff. Its getting out of hand personally with the prices for pc hardware. It’s not feasible unless your making bank on your job.

I will still have a pc to do some stuff on not possible on consoles plus lighter gaming that don’t require latest hardware.
