So Where Does Nintendo Go From Here?

Switch 2 will sell buckets. Don’t do any major changes just fix the joycons, offer the latest Nvidia hardware.

I would say make new Wii notes but that ship has sailed unfortunately. Rip glorious Wii mote, hello shitty joycons.

Nintendo doesn't need a gimmick or a hook anymore now that they have one place to sell all of their games.

They just need to keep bringing the games, and that will be more than enough for 100 million plus every gen.

Switch 2.0.

The opposite of whatever Michal Pachter says they will do, or what's coming.

I could see them going into an even more hybrid product to capture mobile games market for phone. Or just low effort with a switch that does 60 fps.

The key will be shit online and making sure to not support any scenes for their games. Smash community ? Fuck them. Splatoon players? Eat a dick.

I honestly think they wont risk it that mutch. They will just make a more powerful hybrid console and call it Switch 2. People forget that with the Switch, they got both markets in one place, they dont need to waste money on RnD on a separate handheld console and marketing. The real question would be where they go after S2. Will PS and MS become all digital consoles in the next release, will we have classic consoles or full on cloud gaming on any device? Safe to say, Nintendo will be late to the party on all fronts as they always are.

If there is one thing about Nintendo, it's that they can make the highest highs and the fucking lowest lows.

50\50 chance their next console will be a collosal fuck up.

Maybe before the technology was available to make a hybrid console to play all of their games. This is what they've wanted since the Wii U but the Wii U was basically a prototype for the Switch.

I'm sure Switch 2.0 will have some cool new features but it will still be Switch 2.0.

I think they'll go deeper with the Switch concept.

I have a crazy idea:
Imagine Switch 2 as DS + Galaxy Fold.
The clamshell style of the DS with the center being a fold screen and the sides being foldable detachable joycons.

This could enable better handling when portable (slightly fold screen or joycons independently and a smaller size) while also being able to be docked in the current dock (unfold completely and place it on the dock).

In power it could be something between an xbox one and a ps4.

2024.

Many were definitely wrong, myself included. But you can't say there wasn't logic in the belief. The 3DS failed to sell at $249, which forced Nintendo to drop the price $80 after just 5 months. The $299 Wii U was an abysmal failure. Kinda not hard to think a $299 Switch would have trouble reaching mass appeal.

Of course, there was little logic when quite a few Nintendo fans on various sites were saying it was the end of consoles if the follow up to the successful Wii had failed.
The Wii was a very different situation, after the GameCube Nintendo left the power race for a different wider market with the Wii, the issue with this market is although it has a larger potential amount of customers, they tend to be more fickle and complicated, so when Nintendo simply thought the Wii U would automatically cash in on the Wii 's customer base they were wrong, as many had simply moved on to cheaper tablets etc. Also the messages and marketing from Nintendo was almost none existent, so the Wii owners that were left outside the core Nintendo fans, did not realize the Wii U was a new console, not some kind upgrade.

They have basically never released a successful direct successor to a previous popular console/handheld, so I'm not so sure.

Switch 2 will probably just be a new Wii U or 3DS. They need to revamp their marketing if they are ever going to make one.
I agree. Nintendo need to look at this trend and play conservative. IMO just add power to Switch2 and actually call it Switch 2, not Switch U lol.

As for Switch, shrink it to sub PSP size and make it actually portable, this is a nobrainer.

What fascinates me about the Switch is that despite the fact that you can easily emulate it, me and few friends almost caved into buying one because of the convenience and sort of appeal of having the object in hands.

The problem is you very quickly realise how underpowered (no 4K30fps or 3k60fps upsampled standard, and more importantly, no HDR), unequipped (no bluetooth, no wifi beaming) and especially how poor the catalogue has been which eventually makes it a pass.

The Switch Pro therefor wouldn't have been an "upgrade", but just the very basic standard update for it to be passable, except for some crazy reason they didn't and instead released an OLED model which nobody who either owns a Switch or didn't purchase one by now, has any interests in.

-Switch 2
-Will have fixed stick drift and will advertise it as an exclusive feature
-Previous games and accessories won’t be compatible and if you want to play Switch games on it you’ll have to buy $70 HDier ports
-Will still have shit online
-Will have mostly Mario spin off games with the occasional new franchise entry people actually get excited for.
-Will have ports of last gen Xbox One/PS4 games with the occasional extremely downgraded “miracle” port of a PS5/XS game.
-Metroid Prime 4 comes out after being rebooted again; Metroid Prime Trilogy still isn’t a thing
-Maybe Platinum actually releases another game.

Everything sounds good except for the underlined part. I believe that it needs to be more powerful than those two.
