-Players start off with 10 coins, Stars cost 20 coins, Boo will steal a star for 50 coins
-Same space Duels are back. Two players will embark to play a duel minigame. The player who lands on the opposing player’s space sets the wagered amount of coins that each player will bet. We can assume that this will be a final 5 turns type of event based off previous MP games
-At the end of 4 player minigames, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place are awarded coins
-At the end of 1v3 mingames, only the winner(s) will receive coins
-Hidden Blocks, a staple of the Mario Party series, are in the game
-On the board Peach’s Birthday Cake, you can now purchase small strawberries to plant, they cost 5 coins and will steal 6 coins

Overall, there’s already so much to be excited about because there are now three very balanced boards out of the five announced. We’ve already seen two of them in Peach’s Birthday Cake and Space Land, which have both received their own new and unique remake additions. Classic items are returning and the inclusion of the Chain Chomp Whistle really opens up the game imo, NDcube has added their own spaces and little adjustments here and there to the boards to bolster gameplay to new heights. And there will be 100 minigames across the series (MP1-MP10) to return in brand new form in Mario Party Superstars

The game features online matchmaking, which will be a first in the Mario Party series. Saves between turns are also back, which ensures that we can stop and return to a saved game any time we’d like

I might be the most hyped out of anybody for Mario Party Superstars, so definitely expect some updates and insights ITT!

From what i know Mario Party 1 was scored the best out of this series. Let's see if the Switch version will live up to Mario Party 1.

Hopefully it's good. I'm not the worlds biggest fan of Mario Party being honest. Always thought Wario Ware should have replaced it as the top Nintendo Party game but Nintendo never saw the same potential I did I guess.

Another party game is no bad thing. There is always about 4 per console so why not another one.

Can’t go wrong with the legend that started it all. MP1 is very fun. MP2 and MP3 is where the series really begins to take flight though; and those two are easily my favorites. Without a doubt they’re the best

The gameplay in Mario Party Superstars takes the best elements from various MP games, and combines them all into one, with the incredibly well made N64 boards being the foundation of this game. Just look at these two here

whats the total amount of minigames?

is it 100? Or are 100 returning and the are new?

because if its only 100, from 10 different games, thats some BS. This superstars should be massive…

Oh yeah, prepare your joycon thumbsticks to get absolutely destroyed
Lol fr man. I hope nobody decides to use those badboys too often when playing this game. Because they will break down. The JoyCons, even with Super Mario Party, take a massive beating and that game is fairly tame in comparison to the minigames I’ve seen confirmed for Mario Party Superstars. The Gamecube and Pro Controllers are best suited for this game, no question

It’s going to be 100 minigames from across the series. MP2 and MP3 have a bit more confirmed minigames than the others. Here’s a pic from the eShop

2Vlc9n5.jpg

I wouldn’t worry about it much. Looking at the lineup of the 60/100 minigames confirmed up to now, they’ve put together a fine list and there’s still 40 more minigames to be announced. NDcube has selected the very best that I can see. Messy Memory though…that one will probably get on people’s nerves a little haha. I actually had one game where we played Messy Memory three times in a 20 turn game before, in a game of MP3 😅

I really hope they include a few Mario Party 8 minigames. That one is actually my favorite despite being considered one of the weakest MP games.

I always crushed it at this minigame for some odd reason, I can't quite explain it.

Big fan of MP8 though, despite not being a fan of motion based minigames. There will be some thrown in I bet, even if only a couple
If you are kind in mario party you will lose.
This is kind of true. Most people don’t really get too serious with Mario Party but my friends and I used to treat it like a war everytime we played lol. It was always for fun but I wish we could have gotten some of the games we played on video. The mind games really come into play during some turns, and it’s a must if you want to slide ahead of the rest haha. One time a friend even slammed himself against a wall with candle and shattered a bunch of glass hahaha. But yea the mind games, they’re are a fun part of these games. I’ve noticed it’s an entirely different dynamic when playing online in comparison to irl but they come into play no matter what. You have to know your opponents and get players off your back somehow
More remakes/remasters. Of course.
This one is the grandaddy of all throwbacks though, ive been hoping and wondering if a game like this would ever happen since 2005. I would recommend this game to anyone, as long as the matchmaking servers end up working I’d say this is a must play party game. Besides maybe Monopoly (Lord of the Rings themed Monopoly 😎) the N64 Mario Party games are the GOAT board games

I'm glad that I never got around to the first MP on Switch because this is the one that I really wanted.

Classic mini-games, works even with a GC controller, it's rare Nintendo does something I so specifically want like this.

A great inclusion of this game, would have to be Lucky Spaces, which weren’t in the original Mario Party games for the N64

In Mario Party, Mario Party 2, and Mario Party 3 there was a lot of down time where players would waiting turns and turns to be able to be able to do something. Lucky Spaces are a very interesting addition to this game imo. Lucky Spaces offer several things

1) Coins -
2) Items -
3) Discount(s) -

Below is a pic of Luigi landing on a Lucky Space on the MP2 board, Space Land (pic from my phone so kinda blurry)

Nvu09t9.jpg

Now there is a potential detrimental aspect of getting too inclined to land on these Lucky Spaces though. I can’t say for certain because the game is not out yet, but consider the following scenario:

A) Do you choose to land on a Lucky Space or a regular Blue Space?

-Lucky Spaces offer more advantages overall, but there are potentially Hidden Blocks that may contain a star in them when you land on regular Blue Spaces. So it is entirely situational according to your tactics, strategy and what the game may call for. A Lucky Space can fortify a winning strategy in a plethora of ways, but landing on a modest Blue Space may turn the game entirely in your favor if you land on one that contains a Hidden Block with a star inside

Any guesses for the next two boards to be announced?

I’ve thought about this almost daily for well over a month since Mario Party Superstars was announced, and if there’s one map that has a high chance of getting in, that map would have to be Spiny Desert 🌵

A list of reasons why this board is a highly promising one to have in the game

-Stellar soundtrack or music
-Desert theme and environment is immersive and fun
-Real star + Mirage star
-Two shops in positions that make the game very interesting. One at the start and one towards the middle area
-Many spaces, and pretty much the perfect amount too, so choosing your route and items carefully is paramount on this board
-Action Events involving cacti 🌵 allow players to navigate the board and reach three different spots depending on their jump; which opens up the board and a player’s options

It’s such a great board and its remake potential is honestly astounding. Overall, Spiny Desert is just a wonderful board and NDcube would of course make it even greater than it already is. So it’s almost guaranteed in my mind that this heavily strategic board for MP3 would only increase in the area of how much quick thinking and planning that the players must bring to each one of their turns when jumping into a game of Mario Party Superstars on the board Spiny Desert

Here’s a fun question I’ve been carefully considering for the past few days:

How many items will this game have?

There are 10 items that we know of in Mario Party Superstars that have been confirmed. And one of them is the Item Bag, which traditionally has given the player who has it three items at once. So that makes it 9 items with their own potential impact on the board and the outcome of a turn, turns, and overall the game. And the 10th being the Item Bag, which gives you an opportunity to gain 3/9 of those items at maximum

Mario Party 2 has 10 items
Mario Party 3 has 20 items
Mario Party Superstars = (?) items

The Item Bag itself is an item that hails from Mario Party 3… It’s purely a guess, but I predict that there are more items to come that we have not yet seen

So my questions to others of the Mario Party fanbase would have to be these:

1) How many items will be in Mario Party Superstars?

2) If there are more, how many more will there be and which ones are likely to return?

3) Will there be any more items introduced that the classic N64 boards never had, like the Custom Dice Block?

4) Will there be any rare items, such as the ones in Mario Party 3?

My view is that even if the item selection stays at 10 items, that the game is going to be excellent. Each and every item in the game now calls for the player to make a considerable amount of decisions, even when simply deciding to purchase an item. When and how to use them is a completely different story requiring even more careful consideration

If the game adds five more items to make 15 total items, that would be very exciting and make for some exhilarating games to be sure, but will NDcube pull it off is the question? There’s already a sound selection of items that will make the game very fun. But will they go the extra mile, and take the extra risks to add more complexity to the game overall with maybe five extra items?

One last note I’d like to share with others is that the Custom Dice Block item is a game changer. I really love this addition to the game and can already tell that the Custom Dice Block is going to allow for some exhilarating games among friends. It’s always a good thing for board play imo when there are items that as nearly as impactful as a Magic Lamp, or in the case of Mario Party Superstars, the Golden Pipe which takes you directly to the star. And the Custom Dice Block is exactly that; an item that will have an enormous impact on the choices to be made

MP is the one series to me that if you own one, you don't ever need to buy another one.

But going off the name, this game should have every board and minigame.

There are two boards that have yet to be revealed to us in Mario Party Superstars. So which boards will be selected? It'll be difficult to narrow it down, but I'll use what I know of the series to decide which ones are most likely to be a part of the five boards. Each board will have a rating from 0-100. The higher the number out of 100, the higher chance it has of fitting into the new MP imo, and possibly being one of the two final boards to be included in the game. These are my guesses for each board in bold

MP1 - Mario's Rainbow Castle 80, DK's Jungle Adventure 60, Yoshi's Tropical Island 88, Wario's Battle Canyon 0, Luigi's Engine Room 30, Bowser's Magma Mountain 5, Eternal Star 2
MP2 - Western Land 90, Mystery Land 30, Pirate Land 75, Horror Land 70, Bowser Land 80
MP3 - Creepy Cavern 92, Spiny Desert 95, Chilly Waters 95, Waluigi's Island 25, Deep Bloober Sea 70

DLC for Mario Party Superstars seems likely

Based off Super Mario Party selling 15 millions copies, it would only make sense

And I could totally see NDcube saving excellent maps like Western Land and Chilly Waters for DLC

They should add more board from Mario party 5
There might be a Mario Party Superstars type game that celebrates the Nintendo Gamecube Mario Party games in the future. Mario Party 4-7 might as potential than this collection of boards considering how capsules and especially orbs can influence the course of a turn, a game. But Mario Party Superstars can potentially be the greatest Mario Party game depending on a few things. It all depends on the items, the boards (and DLC), as well as the bonus stars. There's still a fair amount we don't know yet but will probably find out about soon in a Nintendo Direct. September most likely
I can't wait for this game it's been long time since a good traditional Mario party game
Same here, have thought about this game basically every day since the announcement trailer at E3. The attention to detail and changes made, their selections with everything? It's very impressive and I say that as an overzealous Mario Party fan who looks at everything critically. To put it into perspective, it's like NDcube has a triple double with 56 points with half of the 4th quarter remaining. Unbelievable work being done. Extremely excited to see the rest too

The gameplay in MPS compared to the originals will be much more fast pace and I believe tactical play and strategy will play a larger role in this game. And that's exciting because MP2 and MP3 especially had a lot of strategy involved for MP games. Mario Party Superstars is looking incredibly grounded and strong right now

I'm not sure what I think about the stickers though lol

I'm pretty bummed that they are only releasing 5 boards. that's pretty low effort imho. Each regular game usually has 5 or more boards, and this is a remake so they don't even need to get imaginative. There should be more like 8 boards at a minimum, 5 is so Nintendo - bare minimum with a 50/50 chance of zero post launch support.

The best two Mario Party games ever released imo are Mario Party 2 and Mario Party 3, which both have six boards. It’s not too big of a deal that they’re one board shy of the norm. Plus, I think there’s a high % possibility that DLC comes to Mario Party Superstars later on if the games sells really well

Someone was saying that the templates are there but this project is one where NDcube has to start from coding scratch? Not sure, but if that’s true then there is no issue with 5 total boards. Chin up trufflepigg-san, this game is going to be a lot of fun

Also, we’re less than two months away. We’ve dipped under the 60 day mark and now only 59 days remain until Mario Party Superstars is available. There’s still plenty of time to look into this game but for me, they’ve done nearly everything right so far. Boards so far look magnificent and I love the changes, minigames selection is stellar, love the items especially the inclusion of the Chain Chomp Whistle and Custom Dice Block, overall it’s lining up perfectly and more info is on the way

It has to be better than super Mario party. Also I’m glad pro controller support is in.

I don’t own the 64 Mario party games because they destroy joysticks so I think this is actually not a bad idea. But it could use more maps as usual, they usually skimp on maps.

Our friends from the Nintendo Treehouse played their game on the new and improved version of Space Land. But at this point, the mean amount of coins they all possess stands at 75.25 coins. Even for turn 18/20, that is a really high amount for players to have. Especially considering they were only testing and showcasing the game. Also take into consideration that Bowser’s Coin Beam is present on this map

This tells me that the economy in Mario Party Superstars is kind of supercharged. Once players get the ball rolling, they might find themselves able to purchase the items and stars they'll need to claim for a victory with more frequency than ever before. It could have just been the nature of the way a couple of players were playing during this particular game that lead to everyone having such an ample amount of coins, but a lot points towards the Lucky Spaces causing this influx of coins between all four players, as well as being able to win coins in minigames for coming in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place during 4-player minigames

This picture pretty much confirms what I'd thought since the day this game was revealed on June 15th and that is that there will be a lot more action in this game when it comes to gaining, purchasing, and utilizing your resources. Having the coins to do things in this game will be less of an issue than it was in the early Mario Party games; where sometimes you would wait half the game or even the entire game just to be able to do something if you were having an off game that day. And since more people will have the coins necessary to win, it then becomes more about how do you make these coins count in-game and which decisions will lead you closer towards a greater chance at winning the game and becoming the Super Star at the very end

More coins = more items, more stars, more potentially nerve wracking encounters with Boo (who may steal a star from you if paid 50 coins) and more avoiding traps set by your opponents
More items = more possibilities coming from all players
More possibilities = more opportunities and therefore more decisions to make during any given point at any given turn

It looks like there’s a lot more to consider in this game than previous Mario Party games. So players will need to be on their toes and equipped with sharp tactics and strategies to maximize their chances of winning

Keep in mind you can lose it all in Chance Time if you’re unlucky, but I like what I’m seeing with how much skill seems to be involved when playing Mario Party Superstars

The price points of each item have been perfected IMO

The ultimate item is the Golden Pipe, which will bring you directly to a star. The price for that item (previously called the Magic Lamp) has always been 20 coins. But now with the Golden Pipe being 25 coins, players are forced to more carefully consider their funds and how they ought to spend or save their coins

The other items shown have actually been slightly reduced in price. The Skeleton Key for example has always cost 5 coins but now may be purchased for only 3 coins at an item shop. This reduction in price incentivizes the purchasing of the more situational items that may or may not lead you to a favorable position to reach the star, or whichever destination you are aiming to reach

I gotta say, this game is looking very well balanced and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Mario Party Superstars becomes a top 3 Mario Party game. Could even see it being top 2 but idk about it becoming the GOAT, as MP3 is a supremely fun game…

We’ll see though, there is clearly a ton of potential here with Mario Party Superstars, even without knowing all the items, minigames, bonus stars, boards, etc. There will probably be at least one more trailer coming soon from Nintendo showing what NDcube has in store for us with Mario Party Superstars

Yoshi's Tropical Island

Yoshi%27sTropicalIsland.PNG

Western Land

maxresdefault.jpg

Yoshi's Tropical Island and Western Land are the definition of classic N64 Mario Party. One of the two will likely get in, and it'd be a little surprising if that wasn't the case. Both boards have a lot of potential to be even more fun than they were on the N64. The fact that we can now hold three items, and there being items spaces and lucky spaces added to the boards make them incredibly enticing to play. I feel especially confident that Yoshi's Tropical Island will be a part of Mario Party Superstars. Everything checks off; great visuals, excellent theme through and through w/ both its music and the board itself, and it's a very exciting & high energy board

Here's a little theory of mine: One of the reasons for the ramped up economy in Mario Party Superstars is because a board like Yoshi Tropical Island will eventually be playable either from the very beginning at launch as part of the base game or perhaps later w/ DLC. And a board like Yoshi's Tropical Island thrives when players are doing well and have plenty of coins to invest [into their respective strategies]

Virtually any board that NDcube chooses from the N64 Mario Party games can now flourish because of the way they've designed the game. This is honestly looking like such a great game already, and we only have about 3/5 of the information about it from Nintendo. Cannot wait until the next update and potentially the next trailer

(43) more days until the release date for Mario Party Superstars

I want to share with everyone reading in this thread, a possibility. It's not exceedingly likely that this specific board is selected to be one of the five boards in this game to represent the classic N64 Mario Party games, but it would be a fine choice indeed if it were to be in the game. A board that I would personally say is one of the more hardcore and trickier ones; one where it's challenging to play on and win. This board is none other than Creepy Cavern, from MP3

Creepy Cavern

1200px-MP3_Creepy_Cavern_Board.png

Creepy Cavern is an excellent board for several reasons and would certainly make for some highly strategic games with friends. It would also work seamlessly with the items we already know to be in Mario Party Superstars. The balance of the board itself is outstanding. I'm not sure how NDcube would go about making their changes with the map and such, but I am sure that the end product would be very solid no matter what. And while I do expect Creepy Cavern to be omitted from the game, there is a good chance that assumption is totally wrong. I 100% believe in the board's potential to be either the first or second greatest among the five if Creepy Cavern were to get in. The map is just that great and can be even greater of course with changes. Cool theme as well. Creepy Cavern is a map that can bring about some very intense, close, competitive games and I would personally be thrilled to have it in the game. Another cool thing about this board is that it pays homage to the underground levels in the Super Mario Bros.

Don't rule this board out. Creepy Cavern very well could make its way to Mario Party Superstars

Only (37) more days to go

I think it’s only right to squeeze at least one more prediction in before the Nintendo Direct tmrw

I’ve considered these two boards and have come to a conclusion. Bowser Land and Horror Land will most likely not be a part of Mario Party Superstars unless they are introduced one day through DLC. It’s as simple as the fact that there are better boards that require less work to remake, that would be a lot more fun, and that would fit the theme of the game better. Here are the boards

Bowser Land

Bowser_Land_map.png

Horror Land

HorrorLand_MP2.png

4wUetcy.jpg

Both boards would be excellent to have in the game, but for some reason I get the feeling that NDcube and Nintendo will instead be looking towards a completely light and cheery theme, map for map or board for board. Bowser Land could be one of the greatest boards to grace the game if Mario Party Superstars has Bowser Items. Bowser Land, even in Mario Party 2, was a very strategic board that had players considering their position and much else every single turn because the board is essentially a sabotage match during each turn given the Bowser Parade. And it was strategic even with only being able to hold one item at any given time. So one can imagine a remade Bowser Land, where players may have three items in their possession, this board could easily become one of the greatest under certain conditions and changes made. And it would certainly look amazing remade too. I'm not the biggest fan of the music, but it matches a board built for mischief very well the same so no complaints there really. The thing is, Bowser Land is kind of hardcore. Players will need to be constantly on their toes and on the look out, actively anticipating the Bowser Parade. And when you land on the Koopa Bank, you actually lose coins; the complete opposite from every other board that features a Koopa Bank in the classic N64 Mario Party games. So they flip the script on players a bit here with Bowser Land; and I question whether Nintendo would put such an extreme board in the game when their focus seems to be more geared towards inclusion and making sure everyone can pick up the game, play, and have fun immediately. Bowser Land is kind of stark in contrast when you compare it to the three boards we know to be a part of Mario Party Superstars. It's theme takes place in a fiery inferno, filled with Bowser's minions. The theme in terms of gameplay is largely sabotaging others with the Bowser Parade, as well as celebrating the greatness of Bowser. And the last point I'll make is that this board, while being a board from the classic Mario Party 2, is a board that you earn only after playing the other five boards. So even though I would assume most who had the game probably unlocked and played Bowser Land at least a couple times, it's not guaranteed and that may play a factor in NDcube and Nintendo opting to omit Bowser Land from Mario Party Superstars

As for Horror Land, I just think this board needs a bit of work and then it can be great. But they would definitely need to change some things. I love this map for its Horror theme but tbh I wouldn't consider it great as it is in Mario Party 2; they would need to make it more exciting IMO. It almost feels like they ought to bring this board along just because Mario Party Superstars is being released so close to Halloween, but overall I just think that this board would need a lot of work and re-thinking with space changes, space additions, the night and day mechanic could be better, and it is kinda lame how you can only use Boo at night. The board comes alive at night, but during the day (although personally I enjoy both the aesthetic and the feeling of the day portion of the map) the board can be uninteresting during that time...If Nintendo gave NDcube the go ahead to switch up the upbeat overall theme within Mario Party Superstars we’ve seen up to this point, and with only one board, I'm pretty sure this map would have priority over any other one. If Horror Land gets announced, then it will be very interesting to see how it's altered to compliment the game

Total of five boards. I anticipate DLC but that might all depend on the game’s sales. The five boards all look amazing. Big fan of NDcube’s selections too, they all offer something very unique from one board to the next

Haven't played a Mario Party since the N64, but I remember the mini-games that practically made you snap the analog stick off the controller by having to spin it so fast. Do those still exist in the series?

That's the infamous side effect of playing the first Mario Party. To this day everybody still remembers that minigame and the damage it did to their palms. But no, thankfully there haven't been any minigames like that since the original Mario Party. There are some pretty entertaining button mashing minigames that will pop up now and again but nothing that's going to destroy your hands
Does this game support switch lite?
Yes. Those playing with a Switch Lite should know that this was posted on Nintendo's official site: "Software compatibility and play experience may differ on Nintendo Switch Lite"

well it's all n64 based right?

so it should? i guess?
The boards are based on N64 classics, and the minigames are a collection of some of the very best from Mario Party to Mario Party 10. There are also items from the N64 games, Gamecube games, and even one or two from Super Mario Party on the Switch. Overall, the game celebrates the classic Mario Party games or Mario Party, Mario Party 2, and Mario Party 3

All minigames are played with button controls, so you can use the Joy-Con controller or the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller or a Nintendo Switch Lite system
