.....fans should get a chance to experience the results of those efforts when Dead Space launches in fall of 2022, according to sources familiar with development. But internally, EA is expecting to launch Dead Space during its fiscal 2023. So we won’t see that in its financial guidance until early next year.

Roman Campos-Oriola, the game’s creative director, also made it clear that since this is a remake, everything is being fully rebuilt using a new engine. “It’s being fully rebuilt in Frostbite,” says Campos-Oriola, “with all new assets, new character models, new environments--even though we’re basing those on the original designs. There are new parts, new props, new collision models, and so on. We're rebuilding everything from scratch, but we're keeping the same story and the same structure." He also mentions how the SSDs in the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will enhance the experience with quicker load times. "Our intention is to offer a fully unbroken experience, it will be an uninterrupted sequence shot, from the start screen to the end credit, without interruption," Campos-Oriola explains.

As far as how the Dead Space remake is going to differ from the original, Yazijian said that the studio will “do away with some things that don’t work, and make sure the game stays relevant to modern audiences,” though he didn’t specify what exactly. “The main source of inspiration,” he says, however, “is the original vision for Dead Space. We make sure we’re following the story, the art direction, everything, out of respect for the original game.

Really don't know what he means by "elements that didn't work". I played the original for the first time last month and aside from the visuals and performance, the game felt surprisingly modern. Maybe he means those level transitions?

It could mean things like the asteroid shooting segment which was completely unnecessary for the game as a whole, frustrating and universally hated.

One of those things I didn’t see as egregious and on the hardest difficulty it only took a couple tries, but the game definitely didn’t need it.

I hope they are really careful about the changes they make.

Cutting something like the asteroid section I can live with, but for the love of god, please don't mess with the fundamentals.

If this goes well, and they get it right, I'm all for 2 and 3 getting the same treatment. I love me some Dead Space.

Dead Space was a great concept, but suffered due to poor pacing, samey design thorughout many of its levels, and an over reliance on jump scares over creating a truly tense atmosphere where you feel like you could be attacked at any moment. Once you learn the few tricks the game has, you can tell whenever an enemy is going to pop out at you.

I loved Dead Space, but I definitely remember getting to a point where I just shot every corpse lying on the floor because there was a 50/50 chance it was going to jump up as soon as I got closer.

2 first dead space already did the continuous uninterrupted shot…

and unlike Gow it was a real one (no cut to menu)
Chapters changes in DS1 were clear fullscreen menu cuts with loading and change of location, that's a weird definition of continuous uninterrupted shot...

Hmm, I enjoyed the two shooty bits as they gave you a break from chopping up necromorphs. I hope they are not cut. They shouldn't really cut anything, there wasn't anything that sticks out as truly bad.

I do like the idea of bringing DS2 elements into it though, the improved zero gravity in DS2 was more fun.

I hope they emphasize the horror atmosphere from the game by cutting the asteroid shooting gallery. It sucked so much.

What are the elements that don't work? i mean beside letting dario argento doing the VA in the italian version of the game...shit was atrociously bad.
This, i don't remember anything or part that wasn't good on DS1 and also DS2. Feels like they're aiming to cut the game like Capcom did with RE3 Remake, or even worse, hope i'm wrong but that stincks hardcore if it's the case, wouldn't be surpring from EA tho.

Wouldn't be hard to do the continuous uninterrupted shot with modern consoles with the SSD NVME, GOW did it with HDD console and that was super impressive considering the result they got with a console with a slow HDD, and GOW also was the only game that did in its generation of consoles. I mean it's SSM easily one of the best game dev of the industry.

Frostbite is fine. Not everything needs to be Unreal.

This studio has plenty of frostbite experience across different titles. It won't be some forced screw up like Mass Effect.
Or Anthem.... or Dragon Age Inquisition... or Mirror's Edge Catalyst....

Frostbite wasn't made for anthing other than Battlefield.

The asteroid shooting part didnt work for me, and sucked. Also getting to and from that part sucked too.

Notice how Andromeda, Anthem, and Inquisition are all Bioware. Sounds like one group's problem with the tools and engine more than the engine itself.

I don't recall ME:C having issues with the engine, more of it being a disappointing game. Not having to do with Frostbite.

Motive worked on Battlefront 2 and Squadrons. Both perfectly fine, playable games. Hell, both of them are set in space, too. They'll be okay.

They’re really doing a great job building hype for this. Over a year away and we already know it’s some Ass Creed director in charge, a writer that worked on Mass Effect Andromeda, that they’ll be removing shit that they think “doesn’t work” and getting feedback and guidance from shitty Twitch streamers.

We so excited

Super suspicious of this. While Fallen Order has been surprisingly good, I cannot forgive EA for fucking up DS3 and killing Visceral for no reason. And even then, they sabotaged TF2 to get Respawn for cheap, so EA is not to be trusted.

IF everything is exactly the same - gameplay, voice acting, music - I will buy it. This talk about “cutting” sounds exactly the opposite. Only thing I didn’t like about DS was the asteroid part, and I don’t want them to cut it, just take the jank out (horrible controls/sensitivity, darkness, etc).

Also, if EA wanted to show that they were good guys, they would bring on the original DS team as consultants and do everything they said.

At this point it sounds like the only thing they’re carrying over is the name.

Would’ve loved if they had just transferred over the original script and voice actors but I knew it’d never happen. This is an EA remake not a BluePoint remake. Instead, we get a writer from one of the shittiest games released within the last decade.

If they remake 2 and its faithful and brilliantly updated I'll actually jazz myself.

Cool! Cut elements that didn't work... Like the microtransactions from 3 right?

Who I am kidding? Chances are they're going to triple down on it and cut all the good parts from the series... Prove me wrong EA!
