Flight Sim '21 (Xbox) Review Thread

I've been trying to find comparison videos to do with internet bandwidth, I'm lucky that I don't have any limits on data usage but obviously I'd like it to look as good as possible even though I don't make the ideal 50mbs.

Obviously these videos are not new videos and they're the PC versions of the game and I know the console version has been optimised a hell of a lot over this time period but I have no idea if they've also been able to improve data usage since then. It's just a matter of waiting and testing in now I suppose.

Cool stuff. In anticipation of this game I upgraded my home internet from 25mbs to 75….and just as vital, went to UNLIMITED DATA.

So….my body is ready. 😆

I was really on the fence about an XSX or a PS5, but this has pushed me over to XSX.

I just hope I can find one.

good luck to you man. XSX is a great machine with a good looking future. Which, to me anyway, really gets going with Flight Sim…in less than 12 hours.

If the Ascent is really good, then that’s one hellava Tuesday/Thursday Game Pass one-two punch. :messenger_bicep:

I built a new gaming PC this year with a 5600x and rtx 3070. This is the game I wanted to play the most in the last 5 years. Took everything to not play it on PC. I been waiting to sit in my recliner on my series x to play this game. Even got a LG C1 oled even though I have a Oled in my theater room that wife hogs.

This just seems like the coolest gaming experience ever on console. I might end up flying the whole world when its all said and done.

Guys, this shit is addicting. I didn't really think twice about it last summer when I downloaded it on PC...but holy fuck it blew me away. I was addicted to being able to go anywhere in the world to sight see, I couldn't stop. I didn't care about learning how to fly or anything like that, I just wanted to explore the world. It's such a chill game, too. Of course, some of my friends tried it and lasted 5 minutes before they NOPED out, lol. It really is something I forced myself to stop playing on PC because I knew it was coming to console and I wanted to see it in all it's glory on the big screen. I'm fucking giddy.

I just tried to play it out of curiosity and there's a mouse cursor in the top left corner of the screen when you boot it up, what.

I never looked into it, but lets say I pick a route from Toronto to Vancouver. In real life thats a 5 hr trip.

How does it work for fast travel or skipping to other parts? Can I skip around and pick anywhere in the world to jump to? Or is it by airports? Or by some predetermined hub points?

This game was fun for me to like find my apartment in - otherwise I have no desire to fly an airplane if I’m not in a dog fight or some form of combat so it’s not for me
For me, I'm going to do some local scenery and check out some cities around the world. I dont see myself sitting there for 5 hrs flying across Canada. But maybe I'll do 1 hr flights to Montreal and see if that giant Orange Julep is there.

People flapping lip about, "Oh, it's not a real game", "That shit's just a screensaver with buttons", all of that jabbermouth... oh yeah? You tell me if you've seen a group of gamers have more fun together than this since, like, back in the day of R6 III with the Duke? 👨‍✈️

(Yes, I know, I'm recc'ing a godforsaken "Funniest ## Moments" compilation internet video, but this legit brought me smiles thinking of a community bonding over a game, as it's been a while since I've met some good people online while playing.)

How are people going to react to a game where the overwhelming majority and point of the experience is simply moving point-to-point above vast and admittedly beautifully detailed landscapes?

How many Xbox fans bashed Death Stranding for this exact reason?
Death Stranding still became the game of the year though, so I don’t think you have to worry that salty tears will affect Flight Simulator much either, will probably just help keeping it in the spotlight so more try playing it since it’s just sitting there on Gamepass waiting to be installed 🙂

i tried that, and it's there:

and the Vatican, Easter Island, Niagara Falls and maybe the Great Wall.
Haha that’s awesome! 😄

Who's flying over their homes ? The moment this is available to play. I'm going straight to my hometown

The only one trying to convince people is you. I expressed an opinion and explained the rationale behind that opinion. I actually wrote that its fine, excellent even, for what it is, all I pointed out was that this sort of offering by its very nature is really niche and thus an unusual candidate for such high profile coverage.

And let's get this straight, I didn't say it was a screensaver. What I wrote was that for the mass-market gamer what it offers is little more than that of a screensaver in terms of enjoyment. An entirely self-evident observation given the expressed tastes of the majority of users everywhere. You know this to be true.

Perfect example of the difference between a game and a simulation. Horizon is a capital-G Game. As you wrote its a game about racing, not a game about driving. Entirely different focus and market appeal.
Bro nobody believes you, you need more people 📢

I saw that too, interesting just how much code from the PC version is intact, lol. The new xbox development kits must be working well to run this beast though.....

The LOD popping in really bugs me. The snow mountains reminded me of old PSX games with pixels dancing on the screen. Really bad. The Series S is way worse in other areas too, unsurprisingly.

Still looks really damn good. I just didn't expect to see those pop ins with the SSD and new tech... oh well.
I was thinking that this is some bug, because eve after "pop" there was a fuck all changes on that. I think that on this scale, stuff like this can be happening. I haven't see it anywhere else from more detailed scenes.

Fuck you with the empathy shit : D I am discussing, I haven't even launch the game, I need to experience for myself first : D
