UK weekly physical sales

Having to settle for No.2 on the starting grid is F1 2021. It's quite a slow launch for Codemasters' new racing game, with boxed launch sales down almost 30% compared with last year's game. 34% of sales were of the Xbox version, the PS4 edition accounts for another 34%, and the remaining 32% was on PS5.

Pretty impressive split between PS4-PS5. You would think there would be a lot more people buying it on PS4, since there are more PS4's out in the wild. But still 66% of physical is impressive, wonder what the digital to Physical split is?

We had scarlet nexus sales here, but got easily debunked by NPD sales. It was top 10 sales for both PlayStation, and Xbox. This just shows that physical sales means nothing.

Its the old people, who are buying physicals right now.

Too bad the physical version of this game, without pathces, is apparently buggy and incomplete and, effectively, useless piece of junk.

Codemasters is very crap.

Biased OP, focusing on F1 2021 instead of the number one on the sales ranking. He even managed to misread, and also miscalculate PS sales as PS5 only. Great work.

UK weekly physical sales: 66% of sales of F1 2021 were on PS5

OMG! I found an awesome Playstation article! Got to post it ASAP showing PS5 got 66% of sales! Done.

Oh shit, It was actually split with PS4. Damn, I cant change thread titles without mod help. I hope a mod changes the title before people notice!

That really puts into perspective how dead and buried physical media is when the best selling game in the UK right now is under 100k in 5 weeks.

Edit : that also includes console bundles? Jesus

What was the split in NPD? It being number 6 or whatever means nothing without a sales split or actual numbers.

Because they're just console warrior bait threads, and they couldn't be any more meaningless.

Digital game sales are like 80% of all game sales on all consoles and growing every year. These threads are like arguing over which CEO found more change on the footpath on their way to their mansion every month.

Who cares if xbox or ps sold 57% vs 36% when we know the numbers are chump change anyway? We know they aren't indicative of anything other than market share of the consoles. There just no point to these "one specific market physical sales only" threads.

The split doesn't matter, because of the ps4 numbers. You are comparing class of 22 students playing football against other class of 11 student. The PlayStation will always have alot of sales, due to number of hardware it sold.

All Bandai needs is that, it hit top 10 of xbox for sales. meaning, they sold very well on xbox. Considering Japanese anime games tend to do bad on xbox.

NPD is US... this thread is UK.

I believe for most games it is impossible to track Series and Xbox One split because they are the same box sku.
About our previous discussion, how long will Sony and MS have a problem obtaining waiver chips? Do you think these will impact, the production in 2022, and 2023? Will they have enough consoles, to start doing next gen games for the big titles?

What do you mean because of PS4 numbers? You are aware the Xbox version is just the Xbox version (no just Xbox One or Series versions, just one version).
It's the US, they aren't that far apart.
Of course the split matters, or even better actual numbers.
Number 6 in a chart means nothing without either those.

I don't know... TSMS didn't share 2022 plans yet.... we have only what they will produce in 2021 for each company.
But the issues was due the COVID-19 so I expected in 2022 to be better than 2021 in terms of production.

If the game can top in the US, it wont have problem doing good on UK. Since most games sales on xbox are digital.
Being TOP10 in US means nothing for any others country... that is UK.
Most sales on PlayStation are digital too (79% last Q)... that doesn't change anything I said.

BTW UK gives a physical + digital ranking late the week I believe... at least Chris talks about it.

Thank you. I was afraid, we might get in to shortage for both consoles. I was trying to get another ps5 for myself, and series x. But they are hard to get right now.

About sales, it depends on how many people in that country is interested in the game. The game is very successful in the west, but did bad on japan. UK, and US should have good results.

Yeap it depends of the place.
To add I found a March tweet from him sharing some digital splits in UK that is lower than the avg. worldwide.

Monster Hunter Rise had 38% digital in UK.

This article detail a lot of Physical/Digital split of 2020 games.
