Have you ever used the Cards or Hints feature?

I went back to the PS5 features deep dive from last year and was reminded about the Cards and Hints system they spent so much time focusing on. Made me realise that despite having a PS5 since launch I've never actually touched that side of the system at all.

So my question is, does anyone actually use this stuff? Or are you like me and just use your PS5 like a more powerful PS4?

Cards are all I use to launch games. In addition, I have gotten stuck on some games (e.g., collectibles etc.) and the trophy help cards proved immensely useful (I would otherwise have to always google how to get that item or kill boss etc.). In my experience, cards have transformed my gaming experience. So yea, two major uses for me: Launching games + Game help.

You should try them out man; try launching a game, say Astrobot or miles etc. from a card; it will take you right where you left off in seconds, without going through usual screens (studio icons, main menu, load game etc.) Also, try using the game help feature if you get stuck, it has been very accurate and helpful for me so far.

I just forget to do it, honestly. I turn on the console and hit X on the game. That's all I know in this life.

I used it last week for help with getting a gold bolt I was missing in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. It worked as intended, more convenient than searching online. It’s just that only select games seem to offer it.

I wish I could say I used them a lot!

But I really don't (only with Astrobot, in pursuit of the platinum) and often I don't even know how to properly reach any of the cards when in-game.. I click the PS button and a percentage shows.. something. And then I can click it and.. it's just weird and convoluted man.

I used them just yesterday to get all collectibles I was missing on Plague Tale Innocence. Really useful IMO since I didn't have to open youtube on my PC to find it. I also used them for Astrobot and Control. The games that do use it correctly are really useful.

- Warframe shows cards for two challange modes with rank placement between friends and global score
- Rainbow Six Siege uses cards to save the score of the last 5 matches you played and also a few game mode cards to join matches quickly.
- COD Black Ops shows the current match and some cards to quickly start the campaign and multiplayer game modes
- Returnal shows cards for each biome with percentage completion for the collectables (really useful when I was going for the platinum)
- Miles Morales shows cards of activities you haven't completed yet and you can instantly load the game at the exact location of the activity (less than a second)
- Sackboy shows percentage of completion for each level and also hints with video of collectables you might miss. You can also instantly load into a level like Miles Morales.
- Control uses cards for each location to tell you what you are missing.
- Demon Souls I think is the most complete pack with vídeos on how to navigate the area you are in and also videos with some collectables

And so on...

Never used them, what do they do?

Do they instantly teleport you to a part of a game to do a trophy?

I've not even looked into it :/

Picture in picture is a great idea, they need to allow more access to it.

Snap was great on Xbox too, but the machine couldn't handle it.

Hopefully Sony allows more user access to the picture in picture feature. Hopefully Microsoft brings back Snap.

I've used the cards to get into a game quickly but haven't really used the help system. Gotta see if Nioh 2 remastered has this feature for the kodamas. Currently using guides to find them.

I use them occasionally. I forget about them mostly. But sometimes I will see them. Realize how useful they are and love them for a game. Then forget again until I rediscover them lol

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
I used it to start a bugged side mission in Spider-Man that’s about it.

Snap on the xbox one fucking ruled. Playing diablo 3 while watching football was my sunday ritual for a long time

I used them in Astro and Sackboy when finding collectibles I missed. But, most games don't seem to bother with them, so I think they'll soon be completely worthless.

Nope, never, I'm the type of guy who doesn't like to try new stuff. I only sometimes rely on the percentages and progression info when going for the trophies.

I use the cards, it's annoying when games don't have them because I like launching right to where I was without the menus.

Never really used the hints though.

NOt sure what it actually does, but several people here mention it for collecting stuff?, Is it launching the game to the right location of for example a quest monster/drop location?, If so I should use it.

I would definitely use this feature on occasion if I had a PS5. Not just because I like to explore every little detail of a UI, but because there's always going to be the odd thing I need to Google for whatever reason. Cards save you that Google search, which definitely adds to the experience.

I never use them, I’d rather have a easily accessible trophy list.

I can’t really complain about the OS in general but having to go to the home screen, find the game, click trophy list, sort the trophy list, find the specific trophy and then have it reset everytime I get back into the game is a goddamn joke.

They need to fix the trophy list.

I used them a lot when playing Astro's Playroom, but not very much since then. They work great though.

Used it few days ago for collectables that i missed during my playthrough of A Plague Tale. Pretty convenient thing, shame that most of developers doesn't bother to make similar guides/hints etc.

If you have PS5 games and aren't using the cards ever, then you are a dimwit
Hi, I'm a dimwit! (no surprises there)

Seriously though, I don't care about trophies. 99% of the time I'm just playing a single-player game for my own amusement - if I get stuck in a particular scenario, I'll either grind it out until I figure what I should do, or then google it. In the latter case the cards could be useful I guess, but personally, text >>>>>>>>>>>>>> video.

The trophy thing is neat but the cards get you back in the game very quick from a cold boot on the PS5. It skips all the splash screens that happen when you normally load a game, the main menu, etc. All that shit is skipped and it puts you right in the game.

Ps5 that have it implemented correctly are awesome (activities)
You can jump right back into a game, almost instantly.
Ps5 games like doom eternal don't make good use of it, cause you have to connect to Bethesda net (useless) and then actually select your save? Wtf.
(I know doom eternal ain't 100% ps5, but the current version is native and this "feature" of connecting to a 3rd party online service for the single player mode will inevitably slow down the process)
