PS5 is comfortably the market leader in UK

I don't know how, but Sony is producing far more consoles than Microsoft. Where I live I haven't seen a single Series X listed for sale since it was launched. It's nothing but thousands of Series S consoles that no one really wants. I can easily buy a Playstation 5 (which I did) at any time from at least one of the five major online stores. Even Sony's website has both versions available 90% of the time.
Several different factors. Sony has sold 100 million + consoles 3 out of 4 times so when it comes to ordering parts in bulk, they can place bigger bulk orders which could put them in front of the line.

MS waited for RNDA 2.0 chips to be finalized before manufacturing their chips which likely put them behind. Sony had the first gonzalo chips ready in 2018. By 2019 they were testing Oberon the 2.0 ghz chip according to the github leaks. Wouldnt be surprised if they were ready to start manufacturing early 2000s.

Sony's APU chips are smaller which means more chips per wafer. I was actually surprised by this. I figured higher clock speeds would lower yields but the smaller chips actually might have helped them here.

MS is making two consoles with two different chips, ram and SSD configurations so its far more complicated than producing just two SKUs with identical specs save for a bluray drive.

Series S is still sold out here in the U.S (Checked amazon and bestbuy) so it's curious to see why its not selling well in other countries.

While I’m not shocked, I have to admit this sales post are bottom tier IMO.

All consoles for the most part are selling what they are making, it always fall back to Sony manufacturing more consoles than Xbox, and Nintendo has been selling for 4 years so of course momentum is slower.
So far this gen has been a race of allocation.

Very very very nice

As expected but whats the sales breakdown? XSX and XSS are sold out as well. It's just a matter of who shipped the most and it seems this is one of the few things Jim Ryan got right.

Also, this isnt a sprint, it's a marathon so lets not start sucking each other's dicks just yet.
Sony's is absolutely killing it on all front and I'm gonna suck all I want. you can't stop me.

Learn to enjoy the moment.
Celebrate all wins.

Man, UK sales posts always trigger a few peeps, not really sure why, saying the UK is irrelevant is just laughable though, fair enough if it was the sales of Jersey in the Channel Islands (where I live, home of Henry Cavill :p), who cares about that, not even I would be interested in that!

But the UK has always been the top three or four most influential nation gaming wise (hello GTA series!), maybe that's dropped a few places the last several years, I don't really know, but to discount it's worth in any discussion about sales or anything else gaming related is embarrassing really, having to let others know about it shows some seriously deep insecurity, or just plain arrogance, pick one!

I recently ordered a ps5, xbox series x and a pc with a 3090 in it but have now cancelled the xbox series x order for now as I couldn't think of why I need it.

I'm from the UK.

I believe ps5 will definitely win the first 2 to 3 years but xbox will catch back up over the final 2 to 3 years.

Didn't know UK was such a small market - only above 1 million consoles sold in half a year
To put it into context in Japan Swich/PS4/PS5/XSX/3DS have sold over 3.72 million during the same time frame.

They also held a bunch to upgrade Xcloud server blades.

Japan has double the population, but the UK is the third biggest single market.

Also Japan isnt buying nearly as many next-gen consoles.

Well it is 25% better than last year and the 3rd or 4th biggest videogame market in the world.
I will say it is impressive for the size of UK.

What is a bunch?. How many XSX chips do you think they have now in the servers? 5K, 10K, 50K, 100K, 1 million? Xcloud can use slightly defective XSX chips binned from the same die. How many people do you realistically think they can host concurrently playing XSX games?

The answer to all those questions is going to be more than 10 and less than 25 million.

Japanese population is aging so looking at absolute numbers is not exactly apples to apples. When we look at demographics the actual potential gaming audience in the two countries is no where near double in Japan. 28% of Japan's population is over 65 years of age compared to 18.5% in the UK, that 10% difference is fairly huge

Last year Sony and Microsoft had scaled down production and supply due to new hardware and COVID
So 25% better result YoY isn't very impressive considering new hardware dropped; but thats outside of the control of both of them since demand is definitely high it's just they can't scale production fast enough.

MS kinda updated the cloud blade servers with the harware for the console, so thats why they in bigger supply shor than PS.

I also believe it has to do with the wafer allocation and the chip size. While Microsoft can improve production due to not needing the chip for the servers the other factors can still place them behind the competition.

I mean it's not surprising, PS5 is still feeding off PS4 momentum, that's all. It's really the only reason why PS5 is leading, mostly. I know not many will take this post serious, considering half of you only have love for "good guy" Sony.

I don't know how many times I need to say this but I'm Dutch. Yes I live next to you and I've been to the UK multiple times. Hell, I need to be there again next week because of work.
Nobody gives a shit about the UK, but you’re Dutch? If it wasn’t for legalised weed and prostitution your nation would be tied with Malta and Lithuania for most insignificant blotch on the European continent.

I never see just the console shipped and sold from Amazon.co.uk

Your link is also just a third party
It's been available at several points since its release. The fact it's a third-party makes no difference as Amazon regularly make use of its partners. My guess is that the Series X is definitely the more popular of the two over here, but combined they're being outsold around 2:1 by PS5 disc and digital.

Japanese population is aging so looking at absolute numbers is not exactly apples to apples. It's nowhere near enough to make up the gap in populations though. And as I say most Japanese are buying the Switch which is nowhere near as supply constrained as the PS5 and Series X are here.

All three companies are doing well at their goal.

Sony is selling the console which they put their all into

Gamepass is up almost 100% yoy

Switch sells out every time new stock is in.

They each killing it in their own respective fields.
Where are those GamePass figures from - last I heard from Microsoft was 18m?
