PlayStation welcomes Housemarque to the family

Returnal was awesome, so it seems like a good get for Sony.

If the Bluepoint rumor is true as well I think these are strong acquisitions. Small studios that can execute incredibly well, as opposed to huge studios well past their prime and slowly fading.

And they clearly like the studios they are buying, because they already own the properties. The danger is of course that people leave these studios and go elsewhere if it's basically an acquihire, but that's true for any studio purchase.

I also don't like the Capcom "rumors", or the SE ones. Those are just pie in the sky wishes right? I don't think Xbox/Nintendo gamers should be cut off from Capcom or S.E. software. I also don't think it matches how Sony operates.

It does seem to be different philosophies - buying properties vs buying the talent that created those properties.

Sony I think has a better way of creating a long lasting relationship that bears fruit everytime a new team is formed from within a successful one that creates successful projects. Returnal I believe is one of Housemarques highest rated title. And I think shows the growth of the studio who has made multiple games for Sony.

Now with Returnal being as great as it is I think whatever their next project is they now have a blueprint in how to incorporate their Arcade DNA into every project. Which is now a staple, similar to how Insomniac's staple is wacky weapons, and fantastic animations that go with it.

I hope we see Microsoft take the same approach in how organically new teams can emerge. I hear thats whats happening at Coalition?

Sony buying Capcom or SquareEnix rumors are about as legitimate as the rumors Microsoft is buying Sega and EA.

Very nice pickup! I've always liked Sony's strategy when choosing studios. Work with them for years and develop a relationship, then purchase.

Microsoft's strategy feels like they are trying to catch up, though the Bethesda purchase is formed from a similar type of relationship.

Some of Microsoft's acquisitions seem doomed to obscurity just because there are so many new studios with more to be announced if the rumors are to be believed.

I've posted in the past that I worry that Microsoft is trying to do too much at once. They kinda need to though for the plan that they have, but still. Too much...is still too much.

it seems people are taking my comment the wrong way.

I am not mocking them or anything. Sony did a great job acquiring them. Marquise is a talented studio. And will help cover certain areas Sony is lacking.

My main issue with Sony is the lack of other genre. Compared to Microsoft future output, Sony can't match them with those genre.

While God of war 2, Spiderman 2, and Horizon forbidden west will make them a success, its not enough for people like me. I like different genre. Not the same 3rd person narrative story driven.

How about a prey type game. A shooter game, or even a horror game, which isn't a zombie. Something like amnesia.

These types of the games people like. I want them to give us those games. Just like how ps1-3 gave us great diversity games.

God damn wasn't even aware it was your autistic ass lmao

Have you researched the difference between a gun and an axe yet?

Fallout 76 is really great now; people really should check it out, as it's insanely cheap now and works great.. of course you have to at least like Destiny style games, but especially if you can find someone to co-op with FO76 is a special game.

Runs REALLY well on PS5 too.
Sometimes i wonder what the fuck is wrong with me.
Read the same shit about Sea of Thives yesterday.
Both games still suck major balls.

Played Fallout 76 with a few friends for the first time a few weeks ago and we stopped playing it after like 6-10 hours.
Its fucking boring.

I haven't played it but i have watched whole playthroughs of the game. The environments may not be exactly "monochromatic" but they DO have a very limited pallete which make them look boring and drab to me. Nier has some environments that have limited pallete as well but overall it was much more colorful and pleasant to the eye for me.

And yes obviously it was their artistic decision to make it look like that but i'm assuming that if their next game has a much more densive and less empty world it will also look more interesting to the eye.
Nier was definitely NOT colorful bro. Look at my damn avatar. I've beaten it 5 times. Outside of the Theme Park. Even then the colors are intentionally muted.

Do you even like Fallout games? The game has a great story, a TON of lore, lots of content to go through. You can play it pretty much like a single-player Fallout game. Most of the hate for the game comes from outdated opinions directly taken from Angry Joe's fat ass.

Calm your tits.

I played and craved Fallout 1 and 2, all "new games" except New Vegas were shit compared to those two.

Hey I drank the cool aid at least. I have all of their games for this gen.
I was clown at that time. Now I just need to finish that menacing spider crowler.

Work is killing me these days. 4 hour sleep, almost hour drive job, and coffee to stay awake. I am surprised I could afford 2 hour of game time.

This Friday is off. So I hope I can finish it this weekend.

Is it worth buying Miles now? Or do I need to play Gow, lou2, or got?
