The beginning of the video made it look like they were about to announce a collection!

It looks pretty good to me, but then I only just started playing VF4 Evo on my PS2 last week, so I suppose anything would look good to me. I've been playing as Sarah mostly, and I hope her face looks better in different lighting:

Sega's strange sometimes. Some moments, they seem 100% all for going multi-platform, but then they go and announce another console exclusive like this. It's not 2002 anymore, when consoles were still different enough to make multi-console ports time consuming and expensive. If it's coming to PSN, then maybe they'll be a Gamepass announcement soon as well.

I think Sony paid a good price for this one.

Well, if that's the case, then at least Sony have faith in the series. It's a shame they didn't give a bit more money so that it could have a proper PS5/next gen version. I miss the days when fighters were the graphical showcase of a system. Only having to render two characters and a small fighting arena would have allowed them to really go to town with ray tracing etc.

Who knows ? It would be too risky to release VF6 during the first year of the PS5, especially with the Pandemic and all the Consoles shortages...

A simple remaster would have been an insult, a remake is a middle ground and maybe a good way to save time for VF6.

It's looking like being a busy Sega week overall. This had better bloody include an actual game announcement (and I want footage, not just a teaser screen):

I have to say, I'm a little nervous about the next game. I think that disappointing Yuji Naka hat game unnerved me a bit :messenger_tears_of_joy: . I just hope that it's a high-effort, high budget game at least (I liked Unleashed, in that respect). Hopefully the success of the film, and upcoming sequel, have released more funds for the game. They've certainly had a decent amount of time to make it.

A 2D game would be nice too. I wouldn't even mind something different (Sonic Advance different, not Sonic 4 different!)

Sonic Colors Ultimate has another Engine filled with new shaders.

PSO2 NG: New Engine

Virtua Fighter 5US: Dragon Engine Remake

Sonic Origins: Taxman Engine, wide screen(even for Sonic 3)

Not that bad especially if you compare with the 60 bucks Remasters/Emulation from of another famous company ho ho ho.

Looks like a decent amount of effort has gone in to all these games. It's interesting that they delayed the Sonic games (even the 1-3K collection) until next year, even though this year is the 30th anniversary. It shows that they are trying to put quality above deadlines. I'm still a little nervous about the new 3D Sonic game though - I only give it a 50-50 chance of being good. That whole open world design could work (Sonic's speed could alleviate one of the most boring things about large open worlds - traversal). I would prefer it if they were to make the Switch version very different from the regular console ones (like they did with Unleashed), otherwise the game could be held back technically.

They confirmed it'll be widescreen, not that it'll be using the C Whitehead engine. Did I miss anything?
You're right.
Taxman retro engine isn't confirmed yet but as mentioned by Kazza Kazza , they don't rush the games and collections.

PSO2NG worldwide launch date:
Far better than OG PSO for most people. Even new comers are excited.

June 9th.

VF5 netcode is good (except for Brazil ATM, no google server in Africa either)

Examples of past IP groups (Including dormant IPs)

  • Crazy Taxi
  • Jet Set Radio
  • Space Channel 5
  • Rez
  • Panzer Dragoon
  • NiGHTS
  • Shinobi
  • Virtua Fighter
  • Altered Beast
  • House of the Dead
  • Streets of Rage
  • Soul Hackers etc.

Utilizing these IPs after careful examination.

As gor 2021, they are doing a really decent job as Virtua Fighter 5 has good netcode, pretty graphics. Later this month PSO New Genesis has strong previews, so as Alex Kid DX (not in house tho).

Last month, some asked why Streets of Rage 4 was considered as "dormant". That's wrong. The report says including dormant IPs.Same for HOD, it's not dormant.

So which IP will be the next annoucement ?

Nights wheel of dreams ?
Super Monkey Ball Bananamania ?
Jet Set Radio Future Ultimate ?

I reckon the Monkey Ball game is next (and that's the only one that has been pretty much confirmed, iirc).

While I would love a new 3D Shinobi in particular, I can't complain too much these days about Sega utilising their old IPs. I'm looking forward to what they are doing with their new stuff too (that CA FPS-like game, that Atlus Fantasy game, and whatever else is cooking)

With RGG studio becoming somewhat famous in its own right now, I wonder if they will be given another chance to make a Binary Domain game? Just as Yakuza was dismissed as a Japanese GTA clone, BD was dismissed by many as a Gears of War copycat. I think a sequel could do well nowadays.

I like the fact that RGG Studio is less focusing on Yakuza (the recent ports were outsourced) and had worked on Virtua Fighter 5US, Sakura Wars (side quests), SOR4(a few members are listed on the credits)... I guess they'll also be involved in Banana Mania. :)

Any predictions for E3? I don't think there'll be any new announcements, except maybe some PC ports (Persona 5?). We'll probably get to see more of the likes of Warhammer 3, although I don't think we'll see any next-Sonic footage.

Yeah, i see more Atlus related things. (this spring Sega already has 3 returning IPS with VF, Alex, PSO...)

How would you all feel if our old friend Yuji were to be given a second chance at Sega (now that he has been let go by Square Enix)? I'm not sure he would even be interested in working on another Sonic game. He seems to prefer new IPs. I have mixed feelings about it.

BTW, has anyone ever played that Rodea Soldier game (the Wii version)? I'm thinking of buying it for my Wii.

He is a genius programmer, i think he could be given a second chance on technical stuffs.

But don't give a role as a producer. First, i think Sonic were excellent on Megadrive because of the game designer Yasuhara (Naka was great for the technical aspect). Second, i think he has a toxic attitude, console warring with Peter Moore, downplaying Yasuhara's work on Sonic...

That's good news. They can easily expect another 250k at close to full price once it comes to steam, and another 250k+ on top of that once the heavy discounts come.

I wonder how Like a Dragon has done in comparison? I get the feeling that it has more mindspace outside of the main Yakuza fanbase (seen a lot more people mentioning it). I wouldn't be surprised if it is already well over a million. It has between 200k-500k according to steamspy, and it hasn't had any crazy discounts yet, iirc.

I still think it will be hard to break into the 5 million plus category like Resident Evil etc, but it's not impossible.

Forgot to mention that a few weeks back I bought some SEGA shares on Trading 212 and just topped up today with 14 SGAMY Shares at $3.30!!!

More sentimental than making money on it, but I am sure SEGA will increase their Share Price given what the CEO has said on giving Investors a Return on Capital.

Happy to say I am a SEGA Investor now :goog_lol:

How easy is it to buy shares in the UK?

What’s the go to brand for wireless genesis controllers? I like my 8bitdo stuff but I’m wondering what else I should be looking at. This will be used with my mega sg and preferably would like to get it on Amazon

Shame this didn't come to fruition, such a neat idea:

There is more on the proposed project in the tweets (spoiler - Sega said no). I hope they are looking at companies such as Limited Run games etc who are re-releasing old Mega CD games etc. It would be great to get official rereleases of classic Sega games:
A shinobi Megadrive collection
Shining Force 3 collection etc

Sonic Mania is free on EGS, cock suckers ;)

Come on, is there seriously anyone on this thread who didn't buy that game on day one :messenger_tears_of_joy: Still, I suppose some might have only a console version, so I suppose an extra PC version would be nice.

Many Sega franchises are rising from their graves lately:

Virtua Fighter 5US had been downloaded beyond expectations (Source: Sega).

PSO New Genesis is a success, many people are hyped by SMB Banana Mania and Valkyria Chronicles 4 didn't bomb after all. (VC1 reached 2 millions, VC4 will pass 1,5 millions and is announced for Luna)

I just came across some articles/tweets about people wanting to know more about the 'lost' Sonic puppet show that was at SEGA World in Sydney 1998-2000. Weirdly, I know the people who worked on the show. Was only a kid at the time. I remember having some of the puppets at my house and the ridiculous script.

Did any of the North American people here ever watch a games TV programme in the mid-90s called Twitch TV? It's featured in this PandaMonium video:

Unusually for the media of the time, it appears that the show was pretty pro-Saturn. I can't find any footage of the show on Youtube, and I never got to see it in the UK.

Signing up is pretty simple, it takes a few days of verification but Trading 212 has delayed it's signing up process to improve their systems.

Freetrade is another you can go on but their ISA costs £3 a month, and their Freetrade Plus is £10 a month to buy more stocks.

Depends if you want to wait really. If I ever refer you I get a free share and so do you!

I think the Stock Price was priced in, and it went lower because the Momentum for SEGA's stock is super low.

Someone I talk to bought in because SEGA owns a colossal amount of Physical Assets such as Golf Courses and Parks. :pie_roffles:

I hope to make money on SEGA, but it is also for the Sentiment as a SEGA fan.

If you ever get rich from this, then you have to buy everyone in the Sega thread a game of their choice. I'll take Panzer Dragoon Saga thanks, and I hear Fat Frog Fat Frog would quite like a copy of Snatcher :messenger_beaming:

I have too many people to pay if I get rich. :pie_grinning_sweat:

SEGA won't do it unless I put thousands in it and it suddenly gets to Nintendo's European Share Price (Over €500).

Atari would be a nice play for the NFTs people go on about...funnily enough that went down as soon as they announced they will be making new games for consoles.
