In the US, The Last of Us Part II has outsold Miles Morales and Ghost of Tsushima

I personally enjoyed GoT far more than TLOU2 but this is very accurate description of the game. I don't know why both Sucker Punch and Guerrilla Games went with this very Ubisoft style open world, do they truly believe its good open world design or because it was just easier fill the open world with "content" to make the player busy.

Whether you liked the direction of the story or not, it is still the biggest leap in facial animations and raw emotion/storytelling compared to 99% of other video games. The animations are on another level, nobody comes close.

In saying that, I preferred the first game but its still a phenomenal game - eff the hate.

That's not their narrative. Their beef is with ND by proxy trying to shutdown their channels for reporting on the leaks and attacking fans for not liking the direction of the story.

Sure, they used that as their excuse to then create 20 vids or more per channel shitting on the "sjw" characters Neil "cuckman" etc. like true proper Trump bigots.

Someone attacking your livelihood is a good excuse to make videos. And there were legit topics like the the deceptive marketing(model swapped trailer) and lies("Ellie is the only playable character", "You don't have to kill dogs") to make videos about.

Yeah, making videos about how PewDiePie didn't like the game or reporting misleading sales figures is "great" content.

They're desperate for content and thats why they made videos.

Well deserved sales!

Only bought this rare gem, because fellow gaffer gaymers like Jon_soy and The_dike had so much good to say about this game of the generation. :messenger_weary::messenger_ok:

Well they didn't invent open world games.

Be specific. What do you exactly mean by Ubisoft style?

America seems to be the target demographic for this game so yeah, no shit.
... GoT and MM were made for the japanese/european crowd?

Fucking Spider-man?

The mental gymnastics that you guys go through to hate on TLOU 2 is something else

TLOU 2 piggybacked on TLOU success, sure. But thats how it goes with every franchise.

Horizon FW will sell more than the first. Spider-man 2 will sell more than 1 and so on.

I'm curious about how TLOU 3 will sell in the future. Dont think that the haters will affect sales by a lot. We will see.

Loved TLOU 2, but preffered the first one. It deserves all the success nonetheless.

TLOU2 was a gift that kept giving. Can't fault them for capitalizing on it.

As for what constitutes great content is subjective, as long as it doesn't involve lying IMO.

For example Ghost of Tsushima has lots enemy base you can take out which mostly plays out same way, and nothing is really hidden, when take over An enemy base, other question mark appear on the map.

The open world less about exploring and more about getting in to next interest point.

Man, Valhalla outsold the Last of Us 2 in half the time, I know it broke records for launch sales in the franchise but I wonder if it can become the all-time Creed seller.

i actually like having markers telling me where to go. open world games are usually long, so i dont want to waste time running around looking for shit and than end up using the internet to find out anyway. just tell me where the hell it is.

The story should be about how an original IP punctured a top 10 filled with large budget, play it safe sequels -- not how one of the most anticipated games of all time didn't do as well as Madden.
You ain't wrong, it's pretty fucking insane how Tsushima ain't that far beyond Last of Us 2 and Spider-Man, considering all the advantages those games got in the marketing.

Not surprised. For me, Ghost of Tsushima was my 2020 game of the year with Miles Morales (as well as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for that matter) being better games than TLOUP2 which was great in every aspect except for the one that mattered the most.

- Using 80% drop after the first week to prove its a failure.
- Calling all the awards rigged and holding a MC user score to a higher value.
- Saying all negative reviews were the only "honest ones".
- Most journalist were paid to give the game a high score.

There's also a reason why people are on twitter using these lies.

People are easily manipulated and that's why they gather a huge following. lol

Thats fair, but for my taste I like to explore, that entire reason I want to play open world games but If the game is not rewarding to explore then it just giant open map thats pain in the ass to get through.

GoT released less than month later.
Spider-Man will sell a lot more eventually.
GoT is WAY behind TLOU 2 in Europe.

i like a good balance. i think rdr 2 did it perfectly. theres tons of markers but also so much things you can discover yourself by exploring. imo thats best way to do an open world game.

Is there anything more funny than a meltdown of insecure people over a video game selling well they don't like whilst picturing themselves as the resilient wolfs that stand tall against the evil manipulation campaign of video game developers.

Absolutely, one 49.99 game + one original IP from a studio with less prestigious records vs one of the most hyped games all time, how surprise. You wanna at least wait till TLOU2 surpasses the first one sale figures before starting crowing.

Besides, TLOU2 has been on sale for 29.99 for 4 times while GoT never drops below 40. The storefront prices don't lie.

I don't know who's videos you've been watching but Quartering and Geeks + Gamers and co where the main ones I saw(didn't see all of them btw) and I didn't see them make these points(or at least as strongly as you are doing here).

- I've seen allusions that TLOU2 wasn't selling as much as Sony was hoping(anecdotal evidence of many TLOU2 copies left on shelves), none of them said TLOU2 would be a financial flop.
- I recall they brought up that negative scores were being removed but obvious 10/10 "positive" review bombs were kept
- Don't recall seeing them claim this, I know G + G has a review of almost a 9 on their site.
- This is not a specific TLOU2 claim, I'm sure you're familiar with the term "access/shill media" which may have been brought up

R* knows how to make most detail open world, but my problem with their game is actual game itself not really fun to play. All my complain about GoT's open world, the actual combat is really fun which I cant say the same about RDR2.

Whats hidden? in the map you see tones of question marks once you active a tower or take an enemy base, what more importantly what do you exactly find? new weapon? or new tool? or just new skin for your sword.

In Bloodborne you actually fine entirely new and completely optional area with own set of enemies, bosses, NPCs and weapons/armour and that game is not even open world.

These are straight-up lies.

when you liberate a camp you unlock at most a 10m radius around the camp. what tower do you activate? i don't remember ghosts having towers?

The open world less about exploring and more about getting in to next interest point.

That might be something done in Far Cry a lot, but Horizon started development in 2011, before that become a deep staple thing in the series, Far Cry 3 had not even released yet. As in, that become a big deal deep in the series as it continued. So Far Cry 2 starts a lot of that enemy base stuff with Ubisoft titles, but at the time its unknown to anyone that would be a core SERIES thing, but even that series didn't invent that to really say "ubisoft style", many, many open world games long before any Far Cry or even AC, Watchdogs etc where doing that.

I also greatly disagree with it being less about exploring, the actual lore of the world is learned by exploring the game. You are literally rewarded with different weapon parts, lore in terms of info on the world etc. I could never say its "less about exploring" Shit, I would say getting to the next interest point IS EXPLORING. You are basically saying its not about doing a thing to lead to doing a thing..... You explore to get to an interest sir lol

edit. You are arguing semantics waaaaay too much man. It has a tower, but that shit exist in Japan, Ubisoft didn't fucking invent the architecture of a damn tower man. Lighting the towers in Ghost increases your LEGEND, it isn't used the same way you see in the AC series to even try to force that shit be argue its some how the same or something. Whats next? Ubisoft invented grass and birds? So the game MUST be Ubisoft style when people speak and move and jump off buildings lol Ubisoft invented all that huh? So I think people make this argument many times, yet have little information to really argue any real exclusive trait by Ubisoft really being done in theses games, a lot of this shit is evergreen, common open world shit that existed for generations.

So what SLB1904 SLB1904 means is simply they don't remember Ghost having towers in the respect of any Ubisoft style thing, not that the fucking structure of a tower was never in a fucking game man lol

A franchise that goes back to the PS3 days and sells a ton of copies already outselling a new franchise and a Spiderman side game. And outselling them being on the market for longer time.

Who knew.

Like my example with Bloodborne, that game doesn't tell me where to find anything and I LOVE that, I'm the one has explore to find hidden areas. My problem with most modern open world is devs is afraid of players to getting lost.

Now you're lying. lol.

- Look at the video "7 Year Old Games Are Outselling The Last Of Us Part 2" from G+G. He talked about how it will sell well up front and starts going on about how it completely dropped off. The guy in the other photo is a YouTuber, he has been more bold in his claims by calling it a failure. he said 4.1 million were shipped and many of the copies were still being left on shelves.

- The guy in the pic talked about MC scores all the time.

- G+G is not the only site. All the people hating on the game, just see what they said about the positive reviews and the excuses they made. It's not that difficult.

- These claims are made all the time by Xbox fanboys. They think Sony pays to have their games reviewed well. Still doesn't change the fact that it's a dumb claim and people used it against TLOU 2, even more so than a game like UC4 and GoW.

I would buy it for my PS4 but the game got a 60FPs update on the PS5. It could be a while before I get to it since want to play it at 60FPs.

I don’t think I said that, but they definitely have world wide appeal, especially when compared to TLoU 2.

I’m not sure who ‘you guys’ are unless you mean the large portion of ND and TLoU fans who didn’t like the game?

Remember when Bethesda made good games beforeicrosoft bought them? Pepperidge farm remembers.

Theres no denying that there's quality in these games, but let's not pretend that there would not be the same amount of hype if they weren't exclusives.

Someone on this forum literally said that it was a shame days gone and Horizon zero dawn got a PC release because these games had great quality until they were announced for pc.
Why so serious?

ighthouse increase jin legend status doesnt reveal shit on the map. informe yourself
Every time find new shrines or Fox statues and even beat enemy camp the map expands while revealing other question marks in that area, that also how you unlock fast travel.

Madden's main audience is in the US and the game is on multiple platforms. When it comes to world wide sales, TLOU 2 is doing much better.

As I explained earlier, God of War was on sale for along time and it only sold 10 million copies in about 13 months. Sony puts their games on sale few months after the game released to, and this has happened with nearly all of their major releases so far.

What I'm remembering is finding the parts for that ultima armor (not weapon, my mistake). Either way, you still find those parts and must actually explore to complete that.

Like my example with Bloodborne, that game doesn't tell me where to find anything and I LOVE that

Thats fine, but that doesn't mean Horizon or Ghost had less exploration. Bloodborne is also a smaller world that can get away from that vs some enormous map. Keep in mind, you don't even NEED to evne fuckihng listen to anything the map tells you. I literally choose to ignore the map in Ghost and just looked at the wind stuff and what ever I naturally found, I found.

I'm the one has explore to find hidden areas. My problem with most modern open world is devs is to afraid form players to get lost.

ok....yet both games you are talking about you legit can choose to not use the map though..... In Ghost, you literally have HIDDEN LOCATIONS where you MUST explore to discover them. I'm sorry Danjin, but both games allow you to explore freely and ignore all maps if you feel just and reward you with many things if you do including items, equipment, side quest and lore. At this point, you are just nit picking. I love many games that allow exploration and reward you for doing so, but I don't just pretend 1 fucking game allowed me to do that or something, its why I even played BoTW and Horzion and Bloodborne, and Ghost and The Last Of Us series etc They all allow you to discover and explore and that is a hard thing to pull off for me to nitpick some shit like this where you can literally choose to ignore a map or something.

Ghost literally has a feature with the wind for you to ignore the map to explore freely. I don't see anything where its this "less exploration", its in the high tier of games that involve exploration . You find shit, they give you shit, you discover shit lol God Of War had a compass feature, so did Horizon and Ghost Used the wind feature, I'd argue many fucking games allow the player to get lost sir, the fact that those maps are even optional on the hud shows they are ok with you getting lost if you choose to play that way.

Didn't like the game but also didn't expect it to do bad, so I'm not surprised. IMO the game wasn't really fun to get through and the story didn't justify the length of it.

Shit I don't like/rate sells well all the time so I don't really care about these numbers. It's obvious enough people liked it/rated it or the first game had enough goodwill to justify the sales, either way I'm happy for the people that liked it.

If Naughty Dog could go back to Uncharted that'd be awesome tho, I've had enough TLOU for a while.
