The team mentioned Seasons a few times before, including our recent Halo Infinite Multiplayer Overview video. How will Halo Infinite function as a live game and what role will Seasons have as part of that?

Ryan Paradis: Seasons are the core container or framework for the content we’ll be delivering to our players. It’s a concept they should be familiar with in MCC already, but for our new players, it’s pretty simple: roughly every three months, we’re going to kick-off a new season. This comes with a ton of updates, new gameplay content, new events, new systems, new customizations, new progressions, new new new… And, as you’ll see in this blog, we’re really excited by the work the Halo Waypoint team is doing to bring your Spartan’s seasonal journey to the web and mobile app.

Chris Blohm: We are focused on adding to the player experience every season. We will look at what worked and see if we want to do more of it. If something did not work, we will learn from it and do better in the future. We want to experiment, learn, and listen with every release and make the game better for everybody.

There’s quite a bit to unpack there, but before we dive into specifics for events, customization, and progression, I wanted to discuss the quarterly model with you first. Why did we decide on this time period between larger updates and, the obvious question from a Community Manager, do we have to wait 3 months to fix issues that may arise?

Ryan Paradis:
So, we decided on roughly 3 months because it gives players a good amount of time to experience and explore the Seasonal content, without it getting tiresome and without constantly pulling the rug from under players. We want to ensure that there’s always a fresh and fun reason to be playing Halo Infinite, but that the things they know and love will be around for more than a heartbeat.

And you absolutely do not need to wait 3 months for bug fixes! We’re going to have to prioritize fixes on our end of course – not everything will be fixed immediately – but we have the infrastructure to deploy fixes pretty rapidly, once we solve them on our end. And of course, player feedback will continue to play a key role in identifying opportunities and shaping our priorities as Halo Infinite grows and evolves over time.

Chris Blohm: There’s one note from Ryan in regard to Seasons that I’d like to jump in on. We want players to have cool content, activities, events, and rewards over the course of the season, but we do not want to demand that players play a ton of hours every week of the season to complete everything. We want players having fun in Halo, not grind it like it’s a job.

We’ve mentioned customization and cosmetics a few times now. What are the various ways players earn and unlock customization elements?

Chris Blohm:
Out of the gate players can get starting gear and get rewards from the free Battle Pass track, the paid Battle Pass track, challenges, skill rewards, event reward tracks, legacy rewards (H5’s SR 152, for example), and be rewarded for some campaign actions. We have a number of Season 1 giveaways as well – certain weeks and days have some significance inside and outside the game, so we’ve set aside pieces for players to login and claim.

Ryan Paradis: And remember, we’ll always be adding new customizations and fun ways to unlock and earn those as well! Day one is just the beginning for us.

Glad to hear that people won’t have to wait too much longer then! Before we wrap up our second chat with you, do you have any closing words for the community?

Ryan Paradis:
Thanks for having us again! I’m excited when we get to engage with the community and can’t wait to continue the conversation throughout the year. Reminder to everyone out there: sign up for Halo Insider so you can play in flights and get the latest news on Infinite!

Chris Blohm: Yes! Every season will have exciting new content and activities. We have a ton to talk about and we’re excited to continue the dialogue in the future.

Then it goes onto the redesign and goals of the waypoint site

It looks nearly perfect as it’s being presented now, tho concerned that FTP will mean animated pizza camos, inescapable grunt birthday sounds, and cameo characters dominate the experience after a few months. Here’s hoping there are opt out options in order to cater to the two divergent audiences.

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
They were afraid to release halo infinite at launch it was off the hook for “redesign” and “graphical upgrades” and “polish”

Like just imagine how beneficial Halo Infinite at launch would have been for Microsoft 6-7 months ago. I don’t believe a month or two can change a game like some think.

Unpopular Opinion: 343 industries will never be able to capture the Bungie magic from the original trilogy

What are you trying to achieve here lmao? Irrelevant ass post to the topic at hand.

The fractures stuff means they will integrate non-canon armors and events into the game, I'm all for it.

How is this irrelevant. This video mentions the most important point of this entire approach of weapon addon which is purely cosmetic. Watch it then open your mouth. Its not about having one weapon with five different shaders and then releasing exclusive addon weapons because this whole "live" thing is a ruse for live service with mtx. Sooner or later it gets there.

When see yellow (orange-yellow?) my brain tries to read all of it at once and then I confuse myself. Slowly, Jiggy. Go slow.

Okay. Good info. I'm not quite sold on the multiplayer yet, but good to hear they are willing to learn and adapt. Sounds like this could be the definitive Halo Multiplayer experience if they do it right.

Coming in with your drive by "concern" trolling about 343 not capturing bungies original magic in an article about their new rebooted website and the new battlepass system that has been getting universal praise, that in fact Destiny 2 fans have been talking about how Bungie should adopt this method.

the progression systems and monetization systems seem to be BY FAR the best ones yet in any free to play title.
they basically used the free season updates in Halo MCC to beta test their progression system, and it is already pretty good in MCC, add events and stuff to that and you got a really genius way to keep people engaged. free skins that are as fire as that one in that image? if that's the norm going forward then, damn...

Never said destiny 2 is great or that Bungie is amazing or flawless. I meant Halo was made by bungie and is inherited by 343 and 343 doesnt understand what made halo truely a fun experience thats all. All this consmetic and live game talk, i have seen it too many times to fall for it. Just look at this whole situation. Their creative ditector of this game left last year. They cant show the updated campaign. It looks like that thing is still being finished and is gonna be hivebuster's length. Not to mention he is already making exuses about how some things would not be pathched immediately. All this does not not transpire confidence. It seems like its aiming for a Gears 5 type of launch i.e. the game took a whole year to be called a fully finished package, not to mention isnt this the biggest concern about gamepass. I am not saying it sucks without seeing much of the game, but i am very very skeptical.

How is what was said an excuse tho?

Not all things will be fixed immediately. That's always going to be the case. They're setting expectations because man children expect everything to be done immediately.

League of Legends has very robust and quick patching capabilities and hotfixing. It still doesn't mean everything will be fixed right away. Most things will release on the typical two week patch cadence. I'm pretty sure that's what's being referenced in Halo Infinites case

I have no nostalgia to the original Halo but its high time we abandon hope of getting golden days of Halo back. I may be wrong but I think directors in lead of Halo Infinite left 2 times in succession. so yeah..

I am treating this as a new game and so far its..alright.
It's F2P, will probably play if campaign is any good.
