Anyone considering an XSX instead of a PS5 after the E3 conference?

Well I already have them both but nothing at E3 was shown that made me more excited to use my Series X. Just got a new TV and the only things I’ve been using it to test on series X are auto HDR and FPS boost 120hz titles. Where on the PS5 I’m playing Returnal, and Rift Apart.

That alone speaks to the issue. Love the hardware, but other than the BC program there’s nothing really tempting me to actually use the console.

No. I prefer to buy over to rent, and I prefer Sony exclusives over MS exclusives.

I'm not a shooters or WRPG guy, never bought Bethesda games, L4D or similar games, and never have been interested on the previous Psychonauts, A Plague of Tales, Flight Simulator or Outer Worlds games. I prefer action adventure single player games and fighting games.

Most of the games shown in the conference were multiplatform games that also are going to be released on PS5 (the 3rd party stuff plus at least Fallout 76 and Elders Scrolls Online stuff) either day one or after a timed console exclusive.

Regarding the exclusive games, Forza Horizon looks amazing as usual in the series. Halo didn't look awesome as it should but at least didn't look bad as before, I need to see more about it. The other new MS games show for the first time like Starfield, Contraband, Outer Worlds 2 and Redfall only had a CG and a logo, so we don't know how their gameplay is.

My most anticipated upcoming MS game is Hellblade II, and Antoniades said yesterday they are still working on the vertical slice and still didn't move to full production, which means they are still years away from releasing the game.

I don't have a ton of time to play, have a huge backlog and select carefully the games I play. So once MS releases a few exclusive games I want to play I'll get a few months of GP on my gaming PC, no need to buy an Xbox. I'll play all the multis (that in many cases perform better on PS5) and Sony exclusives on PS5 the rest of the time, plus some Nintendo exclusive on Switch or indie I want to play on portable from time to time.

I will probably buy one as soon Hellblade 2 lands on the system.
Taneem Antoniades, the guy in charge of the game, said yesterday they are still building the vertical slice of the game and still didn't enter full production. I assume because they are waiting for the UE5 full release. This means the game is several years away from being released.

What about Starfield?
As of now it's a pretty CG/ 'in-engine' cutscene running on a NASA PC. We don't know how its gameplay will be, and since we still have to see the game we don't know if will be good or not.

Bethesda games never have been appealing to me, but their fans said that their most recent games Fallout 76 and Elders Scrolls Online were pretty bad at least at launch compared to previous games from the studio (Fallout 3 and Skyrim) so I wouldn't bet on it and instead will wait to see gameplay and specially reviews.

In theory it will be released like a year and a half from now, but since the game seems to be pretty ambitious, knowing they had many issues at launch in consoles with several games and now that will be a key exclusive for MS I think they will have pretty careful with it, so since they didn't show gameplay I think it won't be released until at least H2 2023.

has been asked to post in 'Grounded' mode.
I was hyped for Forza Horizon series, but after 4 that went away. Open world racing is not my thing, so MS is left with almost nothing.
Anyways, I have a good PC so I'm good.
Weird the same thing happened to me. Forza Horizon 3 is my favorite racer if all time but Forza Horizon 4 didn't click with me at all. I noticed the music wasn't as good either

am expecting majority of their lineup will be similar, multiplatform, execpt MS will Gamepass'd them.

so if you just wanna play games, the value proposition is too much to handle

Well yeah if, after seeing what Sony has to offer, that's the case then of course I may be more inclined to go with Xbox and Game Pass.

E3 is over, Sony decided not to show up. Why should people wait for them?

They should be coming to the people.

I disagree. I think it's just that the only real value E3 as an entity provided was the scale and bringing together of people under one big physical event. As long as there's no physical event, there is no real need for any of the companies to "be at E3". Nothing would've changed if Nintendo had just titled their video as "Nintendo Summer 2021 Games Showcase" without the word E3.

Anyway right now (1) there is very little supply and (2) they are easily "winning" by the numbers so of course Sony does not need to come to the people.

I am of course willing to jump over to Xbox if I see what Sony has and decide it's not for me. No harm in waiting. It's not like I (or the majority of people) can actually get an Xbox SX or PS5 right now anyway.

sorry about his english
no, for now I don't care about Xbox, not even after this E3.

I have ps5 and that's enough for me, soon I'm more interested in getting a switch

Makes me want to upgrade my PC. Except I can't afford it with how expensive GPUs are lol.
I mean then get a series X for significantly cheaper and upgrade your GPU when newer cards are out and aren't chip shortage inflated. You'll have a better GPU and your wallet won't be massacred by supply shortages... I'm a PC first and would be lying if I say that I play all the time on my XBOX series X. But I also have gotten a ton of value out of it, have put enough time into it and love to game in the living room on it as well and prefer a two monitor office setup instead of routing my PC display to my TV.

No, in fact it's the other way. This is First new Xbox generation I've not bought at launch and I don't see that changing. Maybe they'll be in a good place in 2 - 3 years but I've not been interested in their output for some years.

No, but I still want an XBOX. Already ordered a PS5 from a local retailer for the September shipments.

Might attempt to buy XBOX series X once the price is cheaper, hopefully a Digital Edition will come down the road. Pushing for full digital this gen. I'd still seriously consider building a PC again, but stuff is crazy expensive these days.

Just a heads up buddy. There is a massive shortage on GPUs. If you want a 30 series it'll run you well over 1,500$. If you want a 3090, more like 3,500$.

I know what those prices are like, but I was actually wrong about my assumption that if you tried to make a current gen game console PC you might spend $500 on the gfx card. It appears to me that a Series X is something close to a 2080 Super, a card you will be hard pressed to find for under $1000 unless it's used and/or lower on RAM. INSANE.

So, yeah. Consoles now do m/kb and high refresh rate, are getting some pretty impressive next-gen games, are plug-and-play, and the whole system is half the price of just the PC GPU lol.

Games are pricier on console and it's not as easy to play nigh infinite cheap/free games, or to mod games. But you cannot ignore the convenience, cost, performance, versatility and game library of BOTH these next-gen consoles. I would totally play XSX at my desk using a monitor for FPS games, that was never really a viable thing with 360.

Yup. Been wanting an XSX long before E3. I originally had a PS5 pre ordered cause I’ve just always bought PlayStation. Cancelled it and waiting to get hold of a Series X. Series S is easy enough to find but I want that 12TF beast.

Sony has dropped the ball on exclusive games. Nothing they have interest me anymore. Xbox is where it’s at for me. Game pass is miles better than PS+/Now. Luckily I have a PC so I can play Flight Sim, Halo, Forza, etc and use Gamepass but I want an Xbox cause I’m done with PC and won’t be upgrading it anymore.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
I'm considering finally turning mine on again, so there's that. Long story short, I was playing it alot until I got a PS5. I dont think I turned it on since, going on 5 months.

I will be playing Forza 5 tho.

Microsoft have many promising, and exclusive console games in the future (that are of interest for me).

Starfield
TES VI
Fable
Avowed
The Outer Worlds 2
InXile Upcoming game(s)
IO Interactive game?

The thing is that I like to play these types of games on PC. Luckily, all of these seem to be getting a PC release. In other words, I don't need to buy another console. If these weren't on PC, I might have been tempted.

Even Game Pass won't change my mind, although, I can see why the service is so attractive for many. It does give you a lot of bang for your buck.

You knew this. I didnt, thats the point. Of course I heard of gamepass before but I just thought its something that has access to older games and maybe in 6 months a newer title pops in. I had no clue I can get the newest Forza, Flight Simulator, Stalker 2 on the same day as a regular release. Thats crazy money savings. For reference I spent $130 to buy Mass Effect and RE8. But now gamepass offers a lot of new titles straight out the gate, now I get it what MS was trying to push.

But you'd still have to pay for Mass Effect & RE8 as they aren't on Gamepass 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I have a gaming PC so Xbox doesn't make much sense for me. And I already have a PS5 so I'm good on the hardware front.

Why do you have Ultimate? For xCloud?

I have Ultimate because it gets me gamepass across Xbox and PC, you don't get the full value on the PC side but you do get quite a bit.
It is nice playing a game on the Xbox and going to work and just picking up where I left off on my PC.

Gotcha. I missed where you said you had both PS5 and XSX as well as PC.

I don't think so, I don't think they have announced anything unexpected or interesting if you are not already invested in their ecosystem. I don't think the gamepass filler games is particularly alluring to non xbox fans in the short and medium term, it's about as attractive as the monthly PS Plus games.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
Anytime Sony is silent for a few days we have these threads that keep popping up. You guys are like children, you constantly need attention.
Well, given this post is in this thread, I'd say your comment is really ironic.

I was just giving a random example. Who knows, maybe SONY throws in a similar service soon. But currently, you get to play way more for way less on the XSX. PS even if i wanted to get Doom Eternal this late its still $25, or any of those games i missed in the first 6 months of release. Those are all free on gamepass.

As it stands both systems don't have enough to make me buy one yet. I'm going to stick to my vanilla XB1 and PS4 for now.

The 500GB hard drive on each of these new platforms is way too small too. Once theres a revision in a year or two hopefully there's more games.

I would also urge anyone to instead of buying something based on trailers to wait until the final products are out. It's not worth potentially getting burned if a game turns out bad or ends up cancelled.

No, GP has plenty of games I don't want. the few games not on PSNow are not worth it for me. big 3rd party games are not coming to day1 GP.

Simps for Amouranth
I switched from 360 to PS4 and tbh I just prefer the output of ND, Guerrilla and Santa Monica to MS 1st party efforts, there was nothing shown at that conference that remotely tempted me, sure Flight SIM looks incredible but is it for me? Gamepass... Amazing value but I don't really game loads, I've hundreds of games on my PSN account I've never touched.

Now the only game that could swing me to picking up a series X will be Elder Scrolls 6, I absolutely loved Skyrim and I don't think anyone comes remotely close to offering the sort of freedom that the Scrolls games offer so we'll have to see how much of a vast improvement it is over a fully modded Skyrim

this conference did nothing to get me hype or even consider grabbing an X..PS5 has been more than enough for me, plus i have a gaming rig so really no reason for me to buy an xbox..now if they start showin some serious games i might consider but Forza and Halo isn't enough

The only thing that would make me consider Xbox One X and only as additional console would be something from Arkane Studios.
So absolutely no chances for a “swap”.

NEVER hisssssss!!! The only way ill touch THAT box is with a ten foot pole. Sony for life, im ride or die sony, my blood runs that playstation blue. Ive cut anyone out of my life who associates with the xbox!!!

/s

lol i use both consoles quite a bit now. I just beat mass effect legendary and re8 on my series x, and now im running through ff7 remake and ratchet and clank on ps5.

that being said, sony’s absence was felt this year. I wish they were as communicative with the community as they used to be from like 2013-2018. They have a lot in the pipe line, and they only talk a small hand full of times during the year. And when They do, its not always substantial and it rarely gives you everything you want. They are becoming more like nintendo in that sense.

I got really lucky and got a XsX from Gamestop a few days ago. They sent an email out that the local stores would have some and I didn't see it until the next morning. I decided to go get some coffee and stop by. There was a line out front and I figured I'd see if they got anymore. Was legit the last one in line and they gave me a card for the X. I'm enjoying it so far. That said, I still want to get a PS5 but I'm not paying a scalper. I'll wait until shits back to normal.
