Anyone considering an XSX instead of a PS5 after the E3 conference?

Having to play the many upcoming fps games on a controller and Starfield without mods makes it seem like a bad deal.

I was hyped for Forza Horizon series, but after 4 that went away. Open world racing is not my thing, so MS is left with almost nothing.
Anyways, I have a good PC so I'm good.

I'm a bit confused about the OP....what the conference has to do with his "reconsideration" when just talk about to have launch games on gamepass the day one? We already knew this from awhile, I literally don't follow the OP. Seems another stealth gamepass appreciation thread to me, the E3 is a blatantly excuse.

Im at a similar spot where as playstation fan I bought an xbox360 first and then a PS3 when the slim version came out because at the time it was just a better purchase and took awhile for those exclusives to pile up. Now I feel like im in the same spot, that maybe ill go for XSX first and get a PS5Pro or slim later. This time being because I get the appeal of gamepass. Its a financial decision but I also play a shit ton of third parties. And not gonna lie, even Halo Infinite got me interested again. Not to mention I can find XsX way easier than a PS5 atm. Anyone else in a similar boat?

That's the way to go IMO, in like 3 years there will most likely be a 399 PS5 Slim, with enough exclusives to chose from, with all the 1st party heavy hitters waiting to be played. Get an XSX/XSS now with GP if you're financially restrained, then PS5 somewhere down the road.

Tbh no , I'm not going to switch of to XSX because of a good conference!. I'm still taken by a great system with an incredible controller and of course a variety of games and much more on the way, so until now there is no solid reason to switch from a system to another.

Getting both the PS5 and the Series X is definitely where it is at. I went PS4 first last gen and didn't regret it, switched to the Xbox as my main third party system when they launched the One X and after they really got serious about backwards compatibility. Since most of my 3rd party games are on Xbox now I got the Series X first this gen, but there are enough great exclusive games on each system that you should really end up with both. I'm on the lookout for a PS5 now, because I want to play Demon's Souls, Miles Morales, and Ratchet & Clank.

Especially now with Gamepass, the Series X is a must have for someone who spends a lot of time gaming. It has totally changed how I play. I try so many games, and I find myself finishing all kinds of games I never even would have tried before Gamepass.

You knew this. I didnt, thats the point. Of course I heard of gamepass before but I just thought its something that has access to older games and maybe in 6 months a newer title pops in. I had no clue I can get the newest Forza, Flight Simulator, Stalker 2 on the same day as a regular release. Thats crazy money savings. For reference I spent $130 to buy Mass Effect and RE8. But now gamepass offers a lot of new titles straight out the gate, now I get it what MS was trying to push.

I will wait for PS5 slim version.

For current model I will have to buy new furniture.

Im a playstation guy, love the games and the platform but this covid next gen hasnt hyped me as much. Even when announced, I really didnt get the XSX appeal with its gamepass. I chose my platform based on the games I have most connection with. Im not gonna lie, I do wish some titles were on PS like Forza Horizon, Gears of War, Flight Simulator etc. And then the E3 show happened and at the end of almost every single trailer: "Day one gamepass". And considering how often I see GP on discounts I was like wait...I can play all these new games, day one if I wanted with a single subscription of under $100 a year (taking advantage of discounted GP). And on the other side I have to think if I want to part with $70 for each game on PS5. Sure, ill miss out on the big exclusives from PS but I never said I wont buy it later as well.

It's the best option and obviously PS will and has great games but Xbox first party are simply too big. The amount of studios and depth of talent is frightening and PS just don't have the numbers to compete anymore. Gamepass now having 3rd party games day 1 consistently is a genuine game changer.

Nope. While MS put on a very good show, there still wasn't enough there to make me want to switch platforms.

And, honestly, the only game I saw that I really, really want is A Plague Tale, and that's coming to PS5, so ...

Not really the target audience for this thread, I have a series s and a PC with a 3080.

Anecdotally my PS mate is looking like he will get one of the consoles for Starfield.

I think if you are into indies, getting an Xbox or a decent pc is a must-have more than ever.

No, PS5 will be my main console when there is one to purchase (but I may get a Series S as a secondary game pass / emulation machine)

Haha, yeah the Size of the PS5 does make me wonder where I would put it. Even my Series X is weird, even though much smaller. I have it laying on it's side and angled with the heat vent facing out because it is just slightly too tall to stand upright in my TV stand, and gets too warm for my comfort when layed down and put in straight.........Weird problems, but these consoles are weirdly shaped!

Yeah the first one was such a good game, was that a gamepass day 1 game though?

Nah.

Will see how I feel when the new TES releases but that is years away. I'm.actually pretty happy chipping away at my ps4 backlog for now. I want a ps5 but the only games I like the look of are Demons Souls and Returnal. I'm showing unusual restraint for me.

Flight simulator alone is a reason enough to get series x . Games like ratchet, Forza , halo , uncharted are all too samey with better graphics every few years .
But flight sim if it's done well on series x is probably the biggest to buy a console if ur not into PC gaming

Whilst on neogaf you're going to have most saying no, not taking in what you've said you're interested in.

But from what you've said about yourself and what interests you with game pass.

I would say go for it and enjoy the buffet off games, it's literally a downpour of games for the next 6 months.

& when you get a ps5 later, there will be a nice pile up of first party games at a more attractive price point so you won't have to worry about dropping $70 for each title.

The games are £70 here in the UK what is roughly $97 USD, what really sucks.

Nah. I'd prefer to have all the consoles. XSX for everyday gaming with my friends and the PS5 for the occasional solo Sony games. Both offer good gaming experiences just depends on whether you game alone or with buddies.

What about Starfield? Tell us something we don't know?

I was 100% in team PS5 late last gen. Loved the PS4. Amazing exclusives. Barely touched my Xbox in the last two years. Kept hearing about Gamepass and decided to give it a shot with a free months trial. I couldn’t believe the value and was hooked. Once Series X was revealed (most powerful console) and news of $130 AUD games trickled in it was no contest. I go where the value is and right now Xbox gamepass is unbeatable. I’ll pick up a PS5 when they release a slim and there are heaps of discounted first party games.

It is, that’s why I joked about it! I guess the hiatus of no gamepass threads ( ads ) are over….

I assume tomorrow we will have another thread of “gamepass, game changer did you heard of it?”

Well they did before but also having a job and life I cant/wont own all 3 consoles as I dont have time to play them all together. I have a PS4 Pro and a Switch and yes for a long time I wanted to play again Gears and Forza Horizon but as I said I use my consoles for third party mostly too, I dont buy a console just to buy the 15 exclusives it has. I dont game on PC so when I buy a new-gen console, thats what I use it for and right now just realizing, I can either spend $100 a year to play brand new games day one...almost all games or I stick to traditional of paying $70, even for third party.
The amount of times you contradicted yourself is astounding. You do realise most 3rd party games don't go to gamepass? If you aren't interested in 1st party games then why do you care about gamepass? If you don't have much time then surely gamepass is overkill? You're op made sense , this comment makes them both sound stupid.

I think if you are going to buy both eventually, then it would be smart to go with Xbox first especially if you are interested in any multiplayer games (full disclosure: I only have a Series X and am not planning on getting a PS5). The single-player experiences that Sony excels at will always be there and will still be great next year or even later (and discounted), so you don't really risk "falling behind". I'm playing through a lot of single-player BC enhanced games now (some new, some I've played before) and having a blast. Plus with Game Pass you will have lower up-front costs which may help with saving for the PS5.

Gamepass, PSnow and the like are not something i want to support. Im oldschool and i like it that way.

I’m really hyped for that game. Can’t wait! Was so happy when they surprised us with a launch date of next month.

Have a Switch, XsX, PS5 and two gaming PCs all serve their purpose. The conference did make me change my stance on Game Pass but not the system. SMH, Yea I bought into it. I know.... I know.

Well I already have them both but nothing at E3 was shown that made me more excited to use my Series X. Just got a new TV and the only things I’ve been using it to test on series X are auto HDR and FPS boost 120hz titles. Where on the PS5 I’m playing Returnal, and Rift Apart.

That alone speaks to the issue. Love the hardware, but other than the BC program there’s nothing really tempting me to actually use the console.
