... so far, only 2022 games are looking any good at e3 besides a few of Microsoft's. At least the Switch's getting some of the best looking ones besides Replaced (shame, because this is the best looking game I've seen at e3 so far). Square Enix's presentation was hilariously awful garbage and Ubisoft wasn't too far behind. Hopefully Capcom and Nintendo will have some good stuff over the next couple of days.

Feels like i'm the only one that cared about Crus'n Blast. That reveal was actually a pretty big deal to me, loved the N64 games and I thought Nintendo/Raw Thrills didn't care enough to port to Switch. Crus'n always seemed like one of Nintendo's IPs that they didn't really care about.

Hmm. I know it’s far fetched and most of it is probably just my mind craving for new stuff from Monolith Soft, but if the rumors happen to be right and the new model/upgrade/pro/whatever is releasing this fall, would they have some yet unrevealed game(s) to accompany the hardware reveal? I know Xenoblade isn’t a big thing for the masses, but MS has the ability to do breathtaking visual design that could show the new console in a good light.

Or then they just announce Super Mario Odyssey 2 and laugh on their way to the bank :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Well, E3 is over, and I came away satisfied, thanks to Nintendo. I could not find much excitement from other conferences, but now I have at least one game for a month for the rest of the year.

June: Legend of Mana
July: Skyward Sword HD and Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
August: No More Heroes III
September: Wario Ware: Get It Together
October: Metroid Dread
Nobember: Shin Megami Tensei V
December: Advance Wars: Re-boot Camp

And there will probably be another Direct in September, where more smaller games could be revealed. Line up is good, so I have no complaints.

Yeah that's what I've been thinking as well, a new game by Monolith would be the best showcase for a new enhanced hardware, especially if it's the fabled "ambitious" new IP they've supposedly been working on since mid 2017.

Ever since we got the Metroid Dread reveal, I've been thinking of getting a first generation 3DS for cheap. I want to play Samus REturns. I can find them really really cheap here.

I also would love to try some SMT. You guys think its a good buy?

3DS is a great system get an XL or N3DS. But if you can get a 1st gen cheap get one

Yeah, can find really cheap. The problem is that is hard to find games, like really hard.

Btw, the 3DS plays DS games right? I wanted to finish Metroid Prime Hunters, never managed to finish it on my friend's DS at the time.

Yes it does, Amazon U.K. should have a few games also CEX U.K. actually depending on where you live. Let me check cex ships overseas, it doesn’t. Ahh damn.

Really hope Nintendo eventually allows external hardrive support or at least a Switch with more system storage. I'm running out of room on my 1TB sd card and might need another one soon.

Decided to pre-order Metroid Dread. I almost never pre-order but I'm so excited for a new 2D Metroid I couldn't resist. Need it day one. And Nintendo games are usually so polished so no need to wait for the developers to patch it up.

I've never played one. Maybe at an arcade once unknowingly. That would be perfect if this game has online multiplayer

Also, for those interested, the Final Fantasy games on the Nintendo Switch eShop are all 50% off right now - for another 4 days I think

Unfortunately it doesn't look like it does based off of eShop listing. I don't think they expect much since Cruis'n isn't that big a seller on consoles but who knows, maybe they'll add it in later.

I can't speak for the Cruis'n game on Wii or the Gameboys (since I didn't know they existed until recently), but the N64 games are really fun to play and from what I've heard Blast is as well and way more wacky then previous games.

Random question…I have two SNES Classics unboxed still- the NA version and the EU version. I had always bought two with the intent of keeping one unboxed for collector’s purposes, but now I’ve finally decided I want actually play the damn thing! Which one should I unbox and let become worn? Is one more collectible than another? Concave/convex button preferences? Weird question, but didn’t know where to ask it. Thanks.

Get a NSO subscription and play the SNES games on Switch. The Switch emulators are improved in comparison. If you want a SNES style controller there are options from both Nintendo and others (e.g. 8BitDo). Had both the Super Nt and the Mister fpga system (best experience compared to original hardware) and SNES mini but in the end having he games on Switch is the most convenient (handheld option) with close enough emulation and extras (save stated, rewind etc.).

Probably the North American one tbh, wouldn't the EU versions run worse or something?

The EU version uses the same roms and runs them emulated in 60Hz.
It's not like back in the days when the PAL version were slowed down due to the 50Hz "problem".
Yeah my understanding is the refresh rate and the games themselves are the same. Just didn’t know if one was more “available” than another and if it is wiser to keep one unboxed over the other.

Intoxicate Intoxicate The SNES Online is great, but unfortunately doesn’t have the same games as the Classic— i.e.- Super Mario RPG, FFVI, Earthbound, etc. I had also already bought an 8-Bit Do 2.4 GHz controller that works specifically with the console, so I’m all good to go! I’ll probably just break in the NA version and keep the EU unboxed for collector’s purposes.

Ever since the Mario Party Superstars trailer review at E3 I’ve been on cloud 9

If Nintendo includes Chilly Waters into the game as one of the five boards then they’ve done their job to perfection. But from the gameplay available, it does look like they’ve been tweaking things and improving certain aspects on the two boards shown so I would actually be glad no matter which Mario Party 3 board ends up making it to the game

My friends and I used to play MP3 all the time, and I had an uncanny record against my one friend whenever we played on the board Woody Woods lol. He couldn’t win on that map for some reason, and by the end of the summer on that board alone he was like 1-8 when Woody Woods was chosen

This board, Chilly Waters, should definitely make its way to game. With that they can add and tweak to make it even better than it already is? It almost seems guaranteed that this would be one of the five boards

Woody Woods is already confirmed since it's on the box art.

It has an interesting change with the bank on the left side of the map being moved to the top near Boo

Yeah I noticed that late, yesterday was the first time I actually took a good look at the box art and saw that it was Woody Woods. It surprised me. I like that map, and I never realized how good the theme to Woody Woods is until yesterday either. Mario Party 3 has some top tier maps so no matter which one or two ends up being a part of the five maps, I will be fine with MP3's representatives. And since there will be changes made to the maps, they'll probably be even more fun to play on

Which maps do you think make the roster? We have Peach's Birthday Cake (confirmed), Space Land (confirmed), Woody Woods (confirmed basically), and I'm going to say these two are the final boards

1600px-MP3_Chilly_Waters_Board.png

My reasoning is that Horror Land will be selected because it has the most potential for fun with just a couple to a few minor adjustments. I always felt like Horror Land was almost a stellar map, it only needed a little bit more to be on par with Western Land. And I think Western Land will be omitted because Chilly Waters will be the map to take its place. Chilly Waters sort of resembles Western Land except it's more complex and trickier to navigate, and less luck is involved. You aren't forced to go to the top left of the map if somebody wants to buy a round of milk for everyone. You aren't being hit by a train but instead have a choice to jump over snowballs or get chased down by a snowballs

It wouldn't be a bad idea having three MP3 maps either but I'm assuming they'll be going with a 1-2-2 split. Maybe there will be an unlockable sixth board? Hopefully

I think they're either gonna do Horror or Pirate Land from 2 and the final board will be Eternal Star, since they would need a map that feels like a Finale to the game and it fits with the whole Superstar goal.

Sadly I think it'll be Mario Party 3 that only gets 1 map unless a secret final map exists that they won't tell us about.

I love the music for Pirate Land. They're going to need to enhance it quite a bit I would assume if Pirate Land is brought on. It's a very simple map and the bridges could be problematic with all the happening spaces. That map has a ton of potential to be great but I think the team would have to step in and reconsider a handful or two of spaces to be altered. I've actually never played on the board, Eternal Star because I've only played about five or six matches of the very first Mario Party but the map looks kinda weak tbh. Like the aesthetic is something I can see the devs saying nah we aint touching this even if it was fun. You might be on to something with Pirate Land. Just looking at it - you can sort of see it has the makings of an excellent map even in its simplicity. Switch a few blue spaces to something else, add another dynamic and it's there

Eternal Star would be one of the easier maps to remake since it's just a Star shaped rock in space, it'd be lower effort than other maps like Bowser's Magma Mountain or Bowser Land, so I can them going for it.

As for the map itself I think they would make a lot of changes, since it was a little confusing with the warps not visably making sense despite the board image showing that they connect to each island in a pattern.

They would definitely need to change quite a bit gameplay wise like the 2 main gimmicks. On the board all 7 Star spaces are active from the beginning and you get them from Koopa Kids, instead of buying a Star from them, you actually make a bet, Koopa Kid rolls s dice from 1-10 and the player rolls a dice from 8-10 whoever if the player rolls higher they get a Star if Koopa Kid rolls higher though not only does the player waste 20 coins but they also lose a Star if they have one. This board is Brutal and if they bring it back it would need to be balanced, but it's the board that makes the most sense to have. I can even see them replacing the 7 Koopa Kids with the Koopalings.

I just think it has the highest chances out of all boards, although I think Bowser's Magma Mountain or Mario's Rainbow Castle could be a final map.

Mario's Rainbow Castle
Based off the current model, I think Nintendo will select Pirate Land and Mario’s Rainbow Castle. Even though I think Chilly Waters and Horror Land would be more fun

Chilly Waters + Deep Bloober Sea
or
Chilly Waters + Waluigi’s Island

Those options would be the most competitive and fun maps to have in the game. But I do think that Pirate Land with some adjustments would be an excellent choice as well. If Woody Woods was selected then Nintendo is probably going for the good clean fun looking maps and as funny as it sounds, I think they would probably consider a map like Horror Land a bit extreme. Its theme is the complete opposite of what the three maps we know to be in Mario Party Superstars atm. Horror Land is doubtful to get in because I think Nintendo will go with a lighter theme among the selected maps

I just hope Chilly Waters makes it. Would be such a disappointment to see that board left out

I finally ordered a Switch!

I've always wanted to play Mario and Zelda but held off, simply because those two, and maybe Donkey Kong, were the only games I have a desire to play. Now that Metroid is coming up, I finally decided to take the plunge.
I guess I also have the fear that neither game will live up to the hype, for me personally, as it's very rare for games to get as much excitement drummed up as Mario and Zelda.

Still, I'm excited to sit down with some of that Nintendo magic for the first time in 5 or more years, when I briefly owned a Wii U.

Switch GOAT. The library is pretty sick dude. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is another game I’d highly recommend to anyone

Its not just Pirate Land, Bowser Land has a sinister side to it as well. I have a legendary inside joke & story shared among three of my bros that took place one night thanks to Bowser Land

What time is it?
We still need to get a Mario Party game going at some point.

Spent about 60 NMT looking for Raymond today. I settle for Marina.

Played a round of Mario Golf and finished 11 under par. First impressions are kind of eh. I'll give it some more time over the weekend.

THPS1+2 seems like a pretty solid port.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 is so beautiful.

I've been playing a ton of Alien Isolation. I think it is easily the most visually impressive game on the Switch even if the performance can tank from time to time. The game is a little to stingy with save points for my liking. I find myself annoyed a lot from the Alien deaths. It's pretty tense though.

THPS plays great. Good port so far.
Mario Golf first impression isn’t the best, the adventure mode start very slow. Will have to test it in some multiplayer sessions. Hope it‘s better in those then Tennis Aces.

Any hope for F-Zero to come back?
I feel with Advance Wars getting a remake and Nintendo seemingly being okay with bringing back low selling series for a second chance is a good sign for F-Zero

I only ever played the first one and Captain Falcon is very cool imo, would love to play a new game staring him.

Andyliini

It depends on completely if there is anyone from Nintendo willing to produce one. That interview from some time ago hinted at something like that.

Then again, the fanbase is seemingly relatively small and extremely vocal, so if new F-Zero is anything short of perfect, they will make sure no one should ever try to enjoy it. Personally, I don't play racing games at all, so I'm completely indifferent, unless it takes development away from some game I would like.

Nintendo has been bringing back dormant franchises lately, so who truly knows.
