Not really. HFW doesn't even come close to starfield.

So far we had teaser. then video of engine game. Its higher level of hype than elden ring.

I am not looking down on HFW, but it doesn't come close to these 2 title. Elden ring has souls fans, while Starfield has rpg fans. Both these people are anticipating these 2 games.

As i've said, if you look at YouTube metrics which you yourself referenced, Horizon is ahead of Starfield.

That's just factual

I don't even know why you're bringing up Elden Ring. It has a strong dedicated fanbase but it's not going to sell absolute gangbusters like Horizon or Starfield

It looked REALLY good, and will probably play amazing, but its a racing game, dude.

Xbox definitely have those titles up their sleeves though, Hellblade 2, Perfect Dark, Fable, we just need to see them!

I think they'll probably grab more fans on sites like this one but I feel they're still some way from being able to reach the general public in the way that PlayStation have a habbit of doing for some reason. I suppose the real way to judge it is simply via sales numbers.

Hot off the Witcher 3, one of the most beloved and acclaimed games of all time with some of the best sales legs we’ve ever seen in a game. Bethesda is hot off of fallout 4, which sold less, reviewed worse, and maintained players for less time.

Bethesda has fo76 and still sold millions and being played alot, still supported. This is their worst title. Compared to cyberpunk2077 which was hyped massively, and got sunked by cdpr themselves. We can compare companies all we want. But there is no denying both products were from the suits wanting to release broken games to cash on the hype. Its just one got supported and now got free expansion, and new expansion coming soon, while the other is still in fixing mode.

Those modes makes the game alive more, bring more community, compared to ratchet. Its same as Mario maker mode, and gta online challenge mode.

To be fair, both systems don't have a lot.....Sony has add-on last year spiderman, ratchet, and demon souls, forbidden west.....that's about it for this year.

Ms will have halo infinate, flight sim, forza hor 5, physchonauts 2. I'd call that a wash at best, lean one side or the other depending on what types of games you like.

I agree. The only thing they have to wow the GP (as in general public) is Forza Horizon 5 but in the end it's still just a racer. It looks pretty but you can't interact with any of it. It's just a background while you race in your car. (I'm playing the Lego expansion of Horizon 4 on my Series X right now before you jump on me).

Flight Sim is the same. Extremely niche. No hype and not much to talk about (even the thread here is struggling at less than 2 pages and it's all the usual MS posters trying to build fake hype and failling).

I don’t really disagree - I think Sony hype is complete bullshit, but their fans definitely know how to go overboard and make everything ‘the best ever’, so you always get the sense online (if you’re not paying attention) that they have this incredible forward momentum…

More games have been sold on the PS4 compared to any other platform in the history of gaming.

You used cyber punk as an example of a game that got a ton of hype without showing any gameplay. I replied that it’s hype was due to the witcher 3, which received far more acclaim, sales, and fanfare than the Bethesda last major game, fallout 4. I’ll also tack on that the imagery and idea behind cyberpunk, despite it obviously not delivering, were in theory far more exciting than what starfield is currently promising.

Forza definitely wowed me. But don’t we expect that from racing games? They can always push the envelope since they are so basic in nature.The hype behind MS flight sim is baffling and seems utterly artificial to me. People are really super excited to play a hardcore, hyper realistic flight simulator on a controller? The games also been out for like a year. Of course there’s not much of a hype factor.

I think the previous gen was a ridiculous situation for Microsoft, where it seemed like you could just own a PS4 and you wouldn't really miss anything. That was obviously not a good situation for Xbox to be in and someone obviously realised that. Forget the Microsoft-owned studios, when something like the Plague Tale sequel suddenly comes out as an Xbox and PC exclusive you know they are trying to fight fire with fire.

So I do think things are going to be very different this gen judging by the major moves Microsoft are making. It's not going to be easy to knock Sony off its perch, but before they weren't even in the game.

MS’ lineup completely crushes Sony’s. That’s even with awful showing from 343i, redfall. They have outer worlds 2, starfield, new forza horizon, fable, age of empires 5, avowed plus gamepass which offers insane value. I barely play any Sony games last gen and still have little interest to what Sony has to offer. Sony’s exclusives been going way downhill since ps3 while Microsoft is finally doing something I care about unlike halo and gears of war. Sony has earned their "wow factor" time and time again. MS and Sony could both show the same games, with the same trailers, and no difference, and the Sony version would be received better because there is a proven track record for that company. People KNOW those games are going to be legit, with MS, its more hopeful than anything else.

MS has a lot of work to do in order to get back in the good graces of gamers everywhere when it comes to positive reactions to unfinished projects. They'll probably get there, but Sony has been there since the 90s.
