I have gamepass ultimate from october 2019 until april 2024 and paid $200.

Best deal ever.
The discounts are insane for sure.. I have it for a couple more years and also didn't pay much for it.

The service is meant to cost $15 a month though, and that'll likely be the only way you can use it soon (for new players in particular.)

Don't get me wrong.. it's a really cool service.. it's just expensive in the grand scheme of things for a lot of gamers at it's actual price... but it's designed to make money, so that's kinda the point lol

I didn't take the time to read this full thread as I'm sure it's full of some nonsensical talk and fanboyism. But the bottom line is that this is the best Microsoft E3 conference in quite a while and they nailed it for what they needed to cover at this time. A solid A-. Showed their big guns including Starfield, Halo, Forza Horizon, showed a diverse set of games coming this year and next (and some even beyond), showed a ton of "Xbox exclusive" titles, and had some pretty good pacing. If you're an Xbox fan or a GamePass subscriber than you have a lot to be excited about!

No, what you're not going to get are any titles specifically pushing the Series X level hardware (although there were a number of "next gen" exclusive supporting Series S/X and PC) and there are a bunch of games that are still a ways off (Hellblade 2, Perfect Dark, Fable, Elder Scrolls VI etc) but it's an exciting future if you have any Xbox platform. Way to go Microsoft!

Halo is going to look shit graphically, people need to accept that. The contrast with 2042 will be stark.

Quite a lot of games I haven't heard of, but lots of 'B' releases to help fill out the GamePass catalogue. Never played a Forza game before, but might get Horizon on PC if it's any good.

Disappointing news about Starfield, but not surprising in the least. Can see it slipping to early 2023 realistically.

Stalker could be interesting.
Is Kena a 'b' release?

5 years of Gamepass Ultimate, which if you want to play online is what you'd buy, is $900.

It's not really that cheap of a service at full price. A great value if you use it a ton, but that's the cost of a whole lot of games.
Ohh, ok, it was dirty cheap when I was subscribed in PC. I thought it will cost 10€ monthly on Xbox. But even at 15, 180€ yearly is less than I pay in full games. In PS5 I spent 160€ in only 2 first party digital games (Demon souls and Ratchet). Sum to that PS+ subscription. So 180€ yearly doesn't seem too unfair.

$15 /month is the price if you want Xbox Live Gold (if you play any games online, you need it.) That also comes with the PC version tho, which adds to the value for some.

And yeah if you are going to be buying most of those 1st party games day one anyways, it's a great value.

For me personally that price will likely have me cancelling once my deal runs out. And I wouldn't pay $180 a year for a similar Sony service either.. I won't be spending $900 on PS5 games either.

We'll see though, maybe I'll change my tune when my super crazy deal months run out.

The show was a hit and miss in my opinion. After a while, I got bored and nearly fell asleep. It was too fast paced. Game, after game, after game. Hardly any pauses to allow a person to discuss what many of the games are about and their gameplay mechanics. Furthermore, only a small number of games had any gameplay. Heck, Forza 5 was the only one with consistent showing of gameplay without a bunch of cut-scenes killing the vibe.

Ive been playing video games for a long time. Ive seen a ton of E3 conferences over the years, therefore, all these pretty trailers no longer get me excited because I know a lot of times the gameplay is complete garbage, or close. In all honesty, I am more intrigued whenever Nintendo is having one of their YouTube shows because you are likely to see actual gameplay more often than not.

Hahahahaha complaining how it was game after game, no pleasing you people. What a silly complaint.

What I liked or at least showed interest in

A Plague Tale: Requiem
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2
Psychonauts 2
Somerville
-looked interesting.
Replaced- loved it, my type of game.
Halo Infinite-looks a lot better than before. The only thing negative that stuck out is that the environment looks static still.
Forza Horizon 5-Looks beautiful.
Shredders-looked interesting. It's been a while since i've played a snowboarding game. Last one I truely loved was
1080 I believe.
RedFall-only CGI but it's Arkane, so it has my attention.
Starfield-im listing this but I really don't care all that much at the moment as I don't have too much faith
right now in the people making it.
Outer Worlds 2-Needs no introduction. Yeah no gamplay but still, it's nice to know it exist for now.

Combined with the gamepass stuff, i though it was good overall.

Different industries; rather vapid comparison beyond "you pay a monthly fee and it's media."

Would you have actually spent $900 over the next 5 years to play the specific games offered on GamePass? That's the question.. and why wouldn't you spend that money? Likely because you didn't actually want to play all of the games.. nor did you necessarily have the need to play them day one when they are expensive, as you could be engulfed in another game for weeks, months, or even years at a time.

Like I said, the value is based on how much you actually would have spent on the games you wanted to play, or ended up liking that you might not have tried.

People often only play a game or 2 a year, because.. that's all they have time or interest for.. games are something people spend dozens of hours on, they aren't movies they watch once or twice.

And they generally choose those games they want to play.. not have a service choose the games for them, and games they want may never come to it.
UK dollars here.

£659.40 at RRP for 5 years of Game Pass Ultimate (Gold, Game Pass, Game Pass for PC, EA Play and xCloud included)

Vs

£699.90 for 10 games at RRP on PS5, plus £249.95 if you want to play online for those 5 years. Total cost £949.85.

Regarding Xbox, I’d pay for Gold anyway for Halo and Gears, so the question becomes do I spend £249.95 just for 5 years of online play and buy the games separately, or pay an extra £400 for the 5 years worth of first and third party games.

Im sorry if this is a dumb question, is halo infinite campaign and mp coming this year, or just mp. The splash screen only had mp for this year

Show was great. Straight to the point, game after game. Nothing really stuck around to bore you or piss you off.

Only acquisition announcements would only make this better.
Heh, we've come along way from the days of Sony, MS, and Nintendo self fellating over their sales numbers for 15 to 25 minutes

But that's what Microsoft is about, multiplayer or co-op games, Sony are for single player.

Say what? Lmao. It was nothing but game after game, nor was it boring. Unless you're a Sony fanboy, which you probably are.
No Sony fanboy here. Actually, Sony is highly irritating at the moment...

Very clear shift in marketing this year. Xbox is no longer the product, Game Pass is what they want to sell you.

And to that end, well done. Day one bangers like STALKER 2, Starfield, Psychonauts 2, Eiyuden Chronicles, and Redfall. That's a pretty strong pitch. I have no real interest in an Xbox since I have a solid PC, but I will keep my gamepass around.

I really enjoyed it. Lots of good releases lined up for this year too that I really want to play. Psychonauts, Halo, Flight Sim, and Forza Horizon 5 look really good. Plus a ton of indies and plenty of titles that I can expect to play on GP and save money. Pretty much everything they showed I'm looking forward to play for the most part. I know my best friend and his brothers are going to love the news. They mainly play co-op and mp stuff. Contraband and Redfall have my attention too. I loved the Outer Worlds 2 trailer lol, if they improve the faults of the first it could really be something special.

Pretty good, not mind blowing..

Phil though not ashamed to trumpet just how much of an RPG powerhouse Microsoft are now.

Looks like Bethesda games won't be appearing anywhere else

Its possible the Halo multiplayer might launch before the campaign. Maybe thats the reason for the vague release. I would be ok with this.
That thought just occurred to me also and I hope it doesn't mean MP this year and SP next. I only play Halo for the campaigns.

Hermen teaching the fanboys what ridiculous children they are. It was an hour and a half of non-stop games, 20+ of which are day one on Gamepass. If nothing in that lineup or value proposition interested people who are supposedly "gamers", then they're unable to be pleased.

Eh, you honestly think what he posts on twitter is what he really thinks? This is just good guy marketing.
