Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Presentation | Tribeca Games Spotlight 2021

Can't gamespot get a camera and encode video as well as basement dwelling youtubers? We can barely see the game with the compression, and 720p...

Anyway, we have seen the game before, it looks great!

Art is gorgeous. Phenomenal character design. Weird double jump animation though. Not sure why they went with a twirl instead of a flip. Maybe it’s a gameplay thing but if it’s just to be different I don’t think it’s working.

I am in for this. I don’t think I need to see any more. I will check reviews just to be sure it’s not some bait and switch but oh man does this look awesome.

These games are getting kinda close to maybe... 10 year old Pixar films (maybe). Which is awesome; but man.. some of y'all...
Just been having look at recent Pixar and DreamWorks animations and some people here have definitely drank the kool aid. Like you said, we're definitely in the realm of old Pixar films, but you can only roll your eyes when some people actually believe we are anywhere near the level of rendering of recent animations (last 10 years at least). We're certainly in that territory where games can mimick that look though, which is making some people lose their head.

This looks awesome. I love the art style. The environments look fantastic. I want to see what it looks like on the PS5.

Been looking forward to this one since it was first shown, I know it's a game for this year but I just hope Sony give them extra if it's really needed.
This is hardly Demon's Souls but I think it's always good to have a relatively easy playing game when you need a break from all the heavier games and this is hopefully going to be perfect for that.

Furries, forest, innocent lovely girl, magic….how could you not love it? But it’s also derivative af. They’re not reinventing the wheel, that’s for sure.

It looks like such a wholesome, comfy game.

I don't care if its a 7/10 or a 10/10. It doesn't need to be in my honest opinion. Doesn't need to be the greatest adventure game. It just seems like a small team of genuine people who made a game that they wanted to make.
Looks beautiful, has that cosy PS2-era adventure game vibe, that I used to love as a young lad.
Really want to play it.

The art style is just amazing, but it looks pretty generic in terms of gameplay. I'm also pretty convinced this is gonna be a short experience that you can get through in a single sitting, but that's fine.

Looks incredible, glad i have it in preorder...

But the really interesting thing is how atypical this is.. how can i put it.. all they ever talk about is their animation background, how all their staff is from the animation industry.. but there's clearly way more to the game, some really thoughtful gameplay features like slowdown and pikmin stuff... And how did they get this huge funding the game has obviously taken? What's their pedigree for making such a coherent gaming experience? Who did they bring in to help? Etc etc

I'm sold on this game but I won't be surprised if it's 8.5/10 thanks to naivety or something and the sequel is the real breakthrough

Well, I'll definitely be trying this game out once it's released! Kena looks like a refreshingly different sort of game. One that will be fun but kind of relaxing, perhaps? We'll see, but it definitely looks like it will be worth it. Looking forward to this one.

Remember Biomutant.

The hard thing is getting the combat, progression and all that stuff to work, this is what is gonna make or break Kena. People are hyping the graphics but....remember Biomutant.

Biomutant didn't look fun to play even for a second, unlike Kena.

Looked like shit from day one. Ppl are tasteless.

Kena looks good from day one, the style is appealing and as for the gameplay the scope is more similar to older Zeldas instead of trying to reach impossibile limits. It'll be fine if you know what they're (clearly) giving you.

I mean jeesh lol if i wanted to i could say there's something wrong about any animation conceivable.. list your concerns?
I thought for a minute there were framerate issues but it's actually super smooth, it's just that the characters skip animation frames from time to time.

Are you taking about in-game animation during gameplay? If so then that pretty normal in most games, If you want the controls to be responsive then you need cut some of the animations.

It's just done in a really jarring way in this game. Enemies do it at strange times for instance.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
Hopefully the gameplay will be good, not just "hey look please focus on the visuals 90% and gameplay 10%" kind of game.

Remember this is studio’s first time making video games and making animation for CGI movies is very different than making animation for games........everyone have to start from somewhere.

I know. It's not meant as some insult to the devs.. just a comment on what I'm seeing.

Not sure how that's supposed to make me ignore flaws in a product I'm thinking of purchasing lol

It's good to see that they're selling it at a pretty low price too. I do hope that Sony give this a lot more coverage as it draws closer, it may not be a massive console selling franchise but it certainly looks like it's potentially a lot fun to me.
