But that's about it. The rest of the trailer is full of MGS references. I don't think he is making a MGS game with Sony, he is just giving his blessing to the remake. The next PS5 event will have the full reveal..no doubt about it.

The last one MGSV is so obviously stretched, the whole game feels like how Nolan did with TDKR. Worse of all, MGSV overran its budget.

This probably is just that, DS Director Cut or a little story expansion, with some nods to MGS design.

The rumor makes sense to what is going on. Konami is literally open to licensing out IP, Sony has confirmed they have spent money on 3rd party stuff, its a fit that makes sense.

Of course. He is a joker and has a certain house style so it's not out of character to cross over some elements from MGS. I can see this trailer being a hint that the Director's Cut is going to include more action, sneaking, set pieces etc. which might have a similarity to infiltrating a base in MGS.

But people thinking Kojima is going to return to the reigns of the Metal Gear Solid series proper? No way.

YoI have to admit it’s a strange time for Kojima to say “I am moving on from Metal Gear”.

I mean, we know. It’s been over five years since his last one and he released Death Stranding in 2019. If people are begging him for something, it’s Silent Hills.

Most discussion around Metal Gear has actually had very little to do with Kojima and more about the remake or the movie.

That’s why it seems like it could be something more.

imo V:TPP is pretty bad.

the open missions are clearly where kojipro is in beta stages, they have no experience designing game around that, it clearly shows

the story.....even for a MGS, is frustratingly poor. little things like going from shagohod to zoe gundam... stretccch!

also the camera work, the single shot, the head bobbing, low fov, gives me motion sickness!

V was all round shockingly disappointing.

Konami owns the IP of MGS and they fell out with Kojima leading to Kojima Productions.
Id be VERY surprised if they swallowed their pride and allowed Kojima and Sony to partner to make a new game or remake.

I think its most likely just a homage.
At best a hint that another studio is making a remake as per the Bluepoint rumours lots of symbolism such as "handle with care" Sam entering the box but ultimately putting it back on the shelf - Kojima hinting he gave it a go and thinks its time to hand over the keys.

Either way excited to see what he does next whether its on PS5 or XBOX.
