No it's doesn't, break from releases for the generation is the point. All of which are more (or very close to)5 years ago (Halo Wars 2 was 2017)
That fits within your very specific timeline break you are asking for.

My point is it already took a big break. You keep saying there were so many releases on XB1 but ignore the fact that they came early in the gen and it has already took a long hiatus. No it's doesn't, break from releases for the generation is the point.
Your point doesn't match the clear thread title. Why are you trying to make this a debate? My point is it already took a big break.
Here let me help match your thread title then.Your point doesn't match the clear thread title. Why are you trying to make this a debate?
If the thread title is too much for you don't post. The point I'm making in the title and body are crystal clear. Here let me help match your thread title then.
No they should not take a break this gen, Halo is just coming off a long break.
They already did.Should Sony take a break from Ratchet, God of War, Uncharted?
Forza is good and should continue but not milked like the last 2 gens
You mean those games that in some cases won't release until 4 or 5 years in?Forza Motorsport is going for one gaas game without frequent installments, halo infinite is going free to play for multiplayer so obviously gaas. So they're obviously not going to release new games in those two series for a while.
In addition to this, Microsoft bought so many studios and is investing so much more money in them so they can diversify their lineup.
Are you sure you follow xbox and their studios enough to make such questions? If you did, you wouldn't have to ask such questions.
again, where are you getting these numbers?Ok fine 6 releases not 7. Still a big amount 4 major titles after infinite, 1 remake, and 1 upgraded mobile game
there’s absolutely no reason why we can’t have both. Building up on other IP’s doesn’t mean they have to take away from what currently works. The moment they drop halo is the moment I drop Xbox altogether.Hmmm on one side, I assume the fans would want new things, on the other side those 3 IPs are heavy associated to Xbox.
the problem is, their new IPs didn’t got as much popularity as those 3 IPs…
So… we are in a dilemma.
It’s truely a special kind of game. I feel like infinite is a farewell and hello at the same time to the franchise. There is nothing else in the entire games industry like Halo, so why would they stop a franchise like that? Nothing else plays like or feels like it.
No, they have plenty of studios to focus on other IP.After Halo Infinite and Forza 8 obviously since those are coming soon and are already in development.
Halo, Gears, and Forza Motorsport were the top franchises in the industry at one point. They started the Xbox, and they were the backbone of the 360. They were among the top rated game series critically for years and are still well reviewed now.
Even on Xbox One where they had weakened substantially, they were the franchises that got the console out of slumps and stopped everything from falling apart.
But this is why I created this thread, it's not just the decline and changing developers that are a problem, but I believe a lot of new Xbox series fail because of these franchises, and they take away resources from these new projects. I think Microsoft put too much reliance on them and it's caused them to have too much sway on first party game sales.
Let's look at the Xbox Ones AAA first party releases, outside Killer Instinct which barely counts, and Sea of thieves what other AAA release succeeded outside of H/G/F? Nothing.
It's not just commercial success either, but also critical success. Here are Xbox One first party AAA releases on metacritic
Forza Horizon 4 - 92%
Forza Horizon 3 - 91%
Forza Motorsport 6 - 87%
Forza Horizon 2 - 86%
Forza Motorsport 7 - 86%
Halo Master Chief Collection - 85%
Gears 5 - 84%
Gears of War 4 - 84%
Halo 5: Guardians - 84%
Halo Wars 2 - 79%
Quantum Break - 77%
Sea of Thieves - 69%
Crackdown 3 - 60%
The scores are declining but the H/G/F games still score higher than other AAA Microsoft games, so they still give those entries priority leading to less resources available for games like Sea if thieves, little help for Remedy on Quantum break, and heavy outsourcing for Crackdown 3.
Do you think it's time for a break? Let Forza 8 and Halo Infinite be the last entries for the next 5 years? I feel that will help Microsoft do better with new AAA ip this generation.
A god of war game has released every generation since the first. They already did.
Exactly! No, they have plenty of studios to focus on other IP.
Personally I'd prefer 2 games a gen.It appears it is going to one game per generation now and more of a GaaS to support GamePass.
Doesn’t the comparison how 343i releasing less games, make it seem like the studio is not working well?Halo 5 was the only Halo game of the Xbox One generation
Naughty Dog released more new Uncharted games than 343i released new Halo games last gen...
we are also only at Halo 5 right now, after 20 years of the franchise existing.
You misquoted me. I didn’t say that. It was M MvCSpiderman that wrote out the quote you attributed to me.again, where are you getting these numbers?
main title released:
-halo 5
-halo Infinite
remasters:
-halo MCC
-halo wars DE (which shouldn’t even count because it’s not a standalone, just a bonus game for the LE of HW2)
spin-offs:
-halo wars 2
-halo Spartan assault
-halo Spartan strike
and of all of these, as mentioned before, the last title to release halo wars 2 back in 2017 and halo 5 released back in 2015 and that was the last major release. Halo infinite would actually suggest that a major release is overdue.
Only math I can figure is Halo Wars 1 (remaster) and 2, Halo 5 and Infinite.
He also doesn’t take into account we only had 1 mainline Halo FPS this gen and then spin-offs in different genres and a remake of the old games.
They are just lumped together as Halo even though it spans different genres and stories.
Doesn’t the comparison how 343i releasing less games, make it seem like the studio is not working well?
I dunno that’s the impression I get!
They took a break before the reboot.A god of war game has released every generation since the first.
Did you read the thread? The concern isn't about liking the games or not. That was never the issueThey've already taken a break.
There's plenty of other games out there if you don't like them.
I like them, so I hope they keep making them. No concern here. Can't help you.Did you read the thread? The concern isn't about liking the games or not. That was never the issue
Might not be a good one though, I say its high time to take it out of 343's hands.Halo infinite is a reboot of the series.
My God, people on this board feel like trolls with such uninformed claims.
Didn't even try to read what you replied to, unfortunate.I like them, so I hope they keep making them. No concern here. Can't help you.
