ELDEN RING releasing 21.01.2022 - Summer Game Fest TRAILER 2021

The art direction in the original Demon’s Souls (and therefore indirectly the remake) is good but less coherent than their later games, Bloodborne in particular.

I still love the game but stuff like the fire lizards and the bearbugs are pretty uninspired and sticks out IMO.

That art design. It’s like a dream or a painting, or both!

I wonder if we will have to deduce the lore in this game or have a more traditional narrative driven experience like Sekiro. I have a feeling GRRM's involvement is really really minor.

I really wonder how much Martin actually had to do with the writing of this game. What and exactly how much did he contribute and did they even need him? Maybe he has provided a lot of cool context for the characters and motives. Will see. From Software has definitely carved out a niche for themselves, thats for sure.

He's doing the world building and story telling, what exactly this entails in a From Software game is beyond me.

Looks horrible compared to PS5 Demon's Soul. However, gameplay looks to be on point.

True. I wish it was on the level of that Demon Souls remake, but since its cross gen, it will look like how it was made for years on current gen with simply a frame and FPS boost on PS5, Series X etc.

I'm ok with that though, we all knew this was current gen going into all this. The gameplay legit looks like a cross between Demon Souls and Shadow Of The Colossus

Crispy resolution, nice texturing and interesting colors. Nightmare inducing character design and animations. Looks amazing. Day 1

The mere thought of playing this on a PS5 along with Demon Souls and Horizon Forbidden West is giving me chills.

Looks like all other Soul Games. I know that it will be captivating and challenging, but I do believe that I am growing a bit tired of the arts formula. Another issue has to do with the visuals...

Imagine the mess if BOTW2 get a release date one month before Elden Souls. Duel of the titans.

The art direction is as nice as ever but the ingame engine reminds me of Dark Souls 3, is it a simple evolution of it ?

I hope we get several difficulty modes this time

The art direction is unreal.

The music is God tier.

If this had the textures and IQ of Demon Souls.....Jesus. It would almost be too much to handle.

So it's just Dark Souls 4. Looks pretty but I've played the other 3 and this just looks like more of the same. I kinda feel like the January 2022 date is just a placeholder. I expect a delay.

All in all...I'm not all that interested.

I think the game will do great but I'm rather disappointed that the only thing From Software will be known for is their Souls games and not much else.

it being so early in 2022 WITH an actual day in the date makes me think it has the delay baked in, and originally it was planned for later this year, but they shifted it back. I doubt there will be a delay.

We'll see but I'm always very cautious when I see December or January dates. That said. Other then my reasons stated games that are 6 months+ away don't get me excited at all. If it isn't within 2 months or showering me with a textbook of information that says it will make the deadline they set then my hype is nonexistent.

2020 and 2021 has been the time of delays.

Oh god. That's not even going into Pokémon Legends: Arceus slated for release on the 28th. If Breath of the Wild 2 is also releasing in that time frame its not going to be a bloodbath, its going to be a sea of blood. 2022 could very well stand to eclipse 2017. That is of course, barring any more delays and change of schedules.

It really does look like a remastered PS3 game which is disappointing when it doesn't even look as good as Sekiro.

As far as the graphics debate is concerned the CGI promotions of Dark Souls does highlight the potential From Software can bring giving us a target of what "next-gen" Souls games will bring.

While their character/art style will continue to stand out from their peers, it's a shame that it is restricted by the engine they have developed at this point. Maybe they should move over to Unreal Engine 5 with that Lumen/Nanite goodness and we can really see what they can showcase.

Dark souls 3 came out in 2016. In 2022 it'll have been almost 6 years since we got a new souls game.

Sekiro was a huge departure from the souls formula for those who wanted it.

Take both of these into account and you still have dip shits who reply with "oh so it's just another souls game" "I'm burned out on the souls formula" etc.

Go play some Last of Us 2 ya fridge bitch loving weirdos. Us big dick Chad's can't be seen with you small pp Andy's.

The last of us part 2 grounded mode is harder than bloodborne, by far. I am sure elden ring will be hard though

Who the fuck cares about graphics. From has made some of the best games of all time and none of them has ever been state of the art graphically.
Currently 90% of NeoGAF becoming obnoxious level of graphic whores. Just looks DF threads we get for fuck sake, they have this childish argument over couple of pixels and frames. I shouldn't be surprise this this type of reaction in place where they value graphics over everything else.
