Genshin Impact |OT| 4.0 (Fontaine) - Je m'appelle "la baleine"

Not like I will ever pull, but new bow looks like it was made only for electro heroes. Kinda a downgrade considering that all previous heroes had their BiS weapons being made in the same/fitting style. YMY got robbed of her own fire themed bow ;(
Yea weapon skins/glamour system can't come soon enough. That crescent pike on Rosaria looks like trash.

Speaking of Yoimiya, her official kit translated. She sounds like both a nice Pyro sub-dps and a great Pyro off-field support. Super hyped.

Looks OK, but I expected more creativity with her elemental skill. Looks like a ranged version of Huo Tao pyro basic attack.

Think of it more like a non-melee Childe dagger mode. Unlike Who Tao, it doesn't kill her to repeatedly use the skill. But yea, basically.

I still wonder:
  • What's the Energy Cost of her Burst?
  • What's the duration and cooldown of her Ele Skill?
  • What's the default duration of the explosion DoT from her Burst?
Depending on those answers, I'll decide if I'm pulling for her or not. If I do pull for her, like I said before, I'm aiming for C1 for the extended duration. It seems like the biggest QoL increase if you're planning on using her like an off-field pyro applicator.

Oh no. No pyro Cocogoat, just a pyro Fischl. Hype deflated.
Yeah, gotta agree. She actually sounds kind of worse than Fischl. Fischl's bird just passively damages and applies electro to enemies. Yoimiya needs to be on the field, actively applying marks herself through basic attacks, and then switch off again so others can explode those marks. That's a lot more work.

I don't understand why they implement these restrictions that lock her into a more supportive role. "Only other characters can activate her mark!" Why though? Why can't she just do that herself so she can be more of a DPS if the player so desires? Makes no sense to me.

Compare that to Ganyu, who just deals tons of AoE dmg all the time, regardless of whether she's on or off the field, or whether she's a support or main DPS.

I'm sure Yoimiya is gonna be a great supportive character, but that just doesn't excite me as much. I'm missing some flexibility here. A shame, she looks fun, has interesting mechanics and everything, but the implementation is just kind of awful if you ask me. The wait for Ganyu re-run continues, I guess.

Exactly. That's why I want Pyro Cocogoat. But looks like MiHo is afraid of what they achieved with her and Klee so now they create some unnecessary fuckery and shenanigans just to sell you more constellations and more heroes. Bah.

Depending on those answers, I'll decide if I'm pulling for her or not.
will farrell dont believe GIF

You pulled on C6 Tart. Freaking Tart. Then you pulled on probably the least valuable 5☆ EULA. Stop kidding yourself and start saving on C1 YMY.

Otherwise her kit is perfect, but how the fuck am I going to feed that thing to have it ready all the time while still building her for Pyro and EM. It's like every Pyro support is Monkey Paw'ed for me.

  • Xiangling - Gooba sucks and aims at fireplaces/torches instead of enemies.
  • Amber - Best girl but Baron Bunny gets knocked out of range of everything, her burst is great but only lasts a few seconds
  • Xinyan - Great shield with pulses, requires you to be fighting 2 or more things and for it not to glitch out and actually work. Entire kit built for physical damage based on DEF. It's like a schizo designed her.
  • Benny - No
  • Hu Tao - Kills herself
  • Yanfei - baby Klee, zero off-field support
  • Klee - Expensive C2 for best results on a character I don't like the gameplay style for
I could have swung 60 Energy, 40 would be ideal, but 80....

Yanfei is interesting on how boring she is. You could use her elemental skill or burst and the only real difference visually between them is that one is in a area and the other one targets an enemy while hitting everyone around.

Hu Tao is another one with a tag "if you want to explore, kill enemies and have fun she's not a character for you". She feels more like design specifically for challenges of sort, where you really need to use her elemental skill. You gonna be 100% not using her skill during the whole time.

Xynian my girl will never be fixed. Which is sad, because one of her constelations activate a level 3 shield without even hitting an enemy lol. So yeah, I'm starting to think they do that on purpose. Def shield scaling for someone who does not focus on def is like "never go full retarded".

Xingling I have no complains. Aside from being terrible to light torches, she do her job very well and her burst is pretty good(even more with constelations).

Companions don't interact with your furnishings yet, right?
Only so much as they'll appear in your area if you put one of the "gifting" sets down and have any of the relevant companions anywhere in your teapot (inside or outside). After that they go back to where you placed them.

Kinda stupid you can't even make them sit down in a chair or even stand behind a god damn desk like a receptionist because it's considered "clipping" through the furniture.

I'm sure it will get better/more interactive with time though.

Thanks. Is there any website or way to check what furnishings you need to complete the respective sets?

Yeah, it's really dumb. I get it's a soft launch but I wouldn't mind waiting... I hope they had more character interactions eventually to make it more lively.

Here's Indoor https://genshin.honeyhunterworld.com/db/item/hc_672/?
And Outdoor https://genshin.honeyhunterworld.com/db/item/hc_772/?

These are only the "gift sets" so if you want regular furniture set, you'll have to navigate to the normal ones on the menu to the left.

Thanks. Now I can simp properly.
For some reason I still haven't put my favorites in the teapot yet. Mostly because they're all Rank 10 Friendship already.

Speaking of - Fake Fake , I finally put more than just waifus in my teapot. Your roaming pack of dogs seems to be doing well.

Mine aren't yet because I've been lazy farming that... I just hope they add more dialogue to the ones we already got and stop making Traveler friendzone them.

From what I remember reading from the dialogue leak, Hu Tao, Fischl, and Kaeya are winning the Travelerbowl based on what they currently say in the teapot.

*edit* I'm also getting real sick of the self insert always being underage in these waifu games. Rosaria asked me out for a drink and my only answer was "but i'm teww widdle".

FGO did this too, and that MC looks mid 20s at least.

2/3 for now... I'll take it. Keqing slightly alludes to it and then you friendzone Ganyu for now so I cri.

and YES. it's annoying as hell when there's no point and you're traveling fighting gods and crap anyway. Stop always making us dodge them requests.

Especially hilarious considering the Traveler and sibling are millions/billions of years old. But a glass of wine? Maybe in a few years kid.

Maybe being million years old makes you smart enough to realize that alchohol is bad?

I mean look what wine did to Venti... So our MC can use his appearance as a form of polite denial when it comes to choosing a drink for a dinner haha

The second area is open now, and it feels so good to explore again. This is where the game is at its best. Combat is fun, but it's just not deep enough for the game to be as enjoyable when you have nothing left to explore. You really need both for the best possible experience.

Combat would be much more enjoyable IF you didn't have to farm so damn much to make a single character good.
But also if we didn't have to grind our character building materials so much, there'd be nothing left to fight. It's a catch 22.

My issue with combat is with how the devs increase difficulty at higher levels. Max level domains and other challenges feature enemies with un-blockable attacks like random fireballs, icicles, or lightning, or they apply elemental debuffs. Basically you need to have a shield character, or a cleansing character, or be prepared to eat a lot of food. These things are not insurmountable, but they aren't fun and force you into a certain playstyle, which runs counter to the core elemental reaction gameplay and team comp experimentation.

A more enjoyable difficulty increase would have enemies unlock new combat moves as their level increases, both in the open world and in domains. This would help to keep things fresh if enemies had different moves or patterns that would layer on as the game progresses, so that fighting a lvl 85 shield Mitachurl wouldn't be the exact same experience as fighting the lvl 5 version.

My problem is not even the difficulty. It's the amount of cheesiness this game has. For instance, on artifact dungeons I notice that Electro fatui mage can use her moves even when she's launched in the air. I used Sacarose burst and she was launch in the air and this didn't stop her to launch her barrage of lighting ground attack. Abysm mages sometimes do their special attack one after the another with no delay, while cryo abysm mages randomly leaves a cloud of ice out of nothing(they usually have to do their falling ice shard attack).

And don't get me started on the talent cryo dungeon which was made specifically to frustrate the player, not to offer any kind of challenge. The cryo effect drains and stops your stamina regeneration, crystals falling are cancer and against any kind of practice learning. They either fall without warning(no red circles), or the warning is too slow because they fall instantly or they all fall at the same place, stun locking your character unless you use a shield. They can even fall after you beat the challenge and is getting your talents rewards.

How about the fire aura? Whats the counterplay of fire aura? Defeat the enemy before he has a chance to throw fire balls at you.

There is no counterplay other than kill them immediately or bring a shield. This what I meant with the game pushing you towards a shield character, which has been even more obvious with the recent geovishap bosses. The balancing is off since you don't really need a shield through most of the game.

Once you hit the high level domains, it's like miHoYo is saying : "Get a shield character or get f*cked. We can't be bothered to create interesting mechanics to increase difficulty, so here's some unblockable attacks and unavoidable auras. Here's some artifacts with crap sub-stats for your trouble."

I think the real problem is that they're trying to shoehorn an action hack n' slash game into an open world exploration adventure game. The combat is 100% fine as is given the main context of the game, where you're supposed to experience story/explore the world/find treasures and secrets with bosses and encounters along the way. The problem is that that type of game is very expensive and time consuming to develop, so in order to keep people playing daily they have adopted these combat mini events, trials, and locations since that content is very easy to duplicate and develop. It's very "active" from a gameplay perspective, so it may fool you into thinking you're having fun when in reality the mechanics are just getting not only more rigid which reduces creativity, but also it works as a sales pitch as we all saw in 1.5 the "We buffed JohnLee now pull for him you fucks" patch.

Then again, these are the same developers that make Honkai, which is also guilty of "make product (character), then create problem (boss) that can only be overcome by it". I guess you just can't remove the greedy gacha developer mindset from the product at the end of the day.

Phase 2 of this island event is actually pretty great. It really opened up and there are activities/chests everywhere. I'm loving the subquests that get opened by exploring and the conch stories. Good shit.
Looking forward to exploring and more lore bits.

Yea stuff like this and the Mona/Fischl event should be perma-added to the game. It's silly to have it limited.

Honeyimpact has all of the skill info/modifiers updated now for Ayaka/Yoimiya/Sayu/Electro Traveler. If anyone wants to look at cooldowns, %'s, or other info.

Yeah, it bothers me.
This new content is amazing, it's probably my favourite in the whole game - I love sailing (I mean in RL), I love the archipelago setting and I bloody adore Wind Waker.
I know we'll have plenty of time, but knowing it's temporary makes me full anxious and I have to rush it.

Woof, they did her dirty. How, why? Damn, Inazuma looked amazing at the distance, but closer it gets, better I see that we waited for mediocrity lmao

Remove her "culling the weak" ability? Burst is 80? So what does she has now? "Press ○ 5 times for awesome"? Groan. YMY is another hectic character who can't do shit on her own without constant switching and skill juggling. Bah.
