ELDEN RING releasing 21.01.2022 - Summer Game Fest TRAILER 2021

I never played a Souls game and I’m hyped for this. So glad it’s a cross-gen title.

The world looks like it’ll be a joy to explore and discover. And the enemy designs are so varied and cool, with a couple of them reminding me of Shadow of the Colossus. I’m actually surprised the trailer showed so many of them.

Just be ready for the hard difficulty.

Why do people care so much about graphics? Art Direction, Gameplay, Story are what matter the most. Those are things that age well. Oh and good soundtrack too.
Graphics are the least important imo, they just need to be good or standard, no need to be revolutionary.
art direction looks like all other souls game ( nothing impressive imo ), gameplay has to be seen but i think it ll be just like other souls games anda base item description is not the most exciting way to tell a story

Oh it's confirmed you create your own character and playstyle, awesome, i love Sekiro a lot, but gotta admit i miss those customizing aspects of the Souls game, so the replay value will be infinite like old Souls games, so excited can't wait!!
Indeed, Sekiro suffered a lot from having a pretty straight forward character progression/customization IMO. I really appreciated getting actual new attacks and skills though.

Bloodborne to a much lesser exent but it also suffered from it in a way. Too few viable builds in it.

I’m really looking forward to see how this will work in terms of build variety and how many different stats we will get to play around with.

Well since clearly it's not going to be Elden Ring now, hopefully Bloodborne 2 becomes that overly ambitious game that Miyazaki has supposedly been wanting to make for years now.

This looks like Dark souls 4. I don't consider it to be a bad thing, just commenting on its art style.
Maybe gameplay will be very different, we'll see.
Anyway, I expect it to be a great game.

Last one was in 2016...

Technically the last one was in 2020 with the Bluepoint remake.

Just tired of these already. Same ol shit but with new art and some new character models. It also looks dated and might as well be called Dark Souls 4. I mean at least Sekiro tried to branch out and do something a little different. Whatevs, I know a new Souls circlejerk is an impossible one to break.

It does look a bit last gen. Especially the stiff animations.

But still, Its a dope looking Souls game! And I will be there to play it day 1.

Demon souls 2020 is the same game as the ps3 version with better graphics. No new areas or enemies.

Looks good and I will be playing the shit out of this, however this really makes me laugh at all the fake insiders around this game. Nothing here screams particularly Norse or Celtic besides the tree of life logo in a camp and maybe the redhead. Just seems like the usual FromSoftware mishmash of fantasy monsters from different mythos. If this was called Dark Souls 4 that wouldn't be out of place. Calling you "tarnished" instead of "hollow" or "ashen" doesn't really scream new to me. Would have liked a bit of change in the architecture from what we've seen from their previous titles. This just looks like a more open Dark Souls. Which is a little bit of a missed opportunity.

With that being said I am on board and will be playing day 1. I am sure the game will be great. Hoping the lore will be interesting to discover.

I'm amazed that people aren't impressed by the visuals. I for one can't wait to get my ass handed to me over and over and over and over again in all that glorious 4K/60. Bring it Miyazaki!
The graphics are fine, the problem is its the 5th game with an indistinguishable setting, if you told me parts of this trailer were from DS3 with a FROM enemy randomiser I'd believe you. sekiro and BB had a much stronger aesthetic identity. It doesn't look bad but it looks exactly like souls and different people have a different tolerance for experiencing similar things over and over. If this was DS2 id be having a heart attack, sadly its not.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, FROM's reputation as a great storyteller is vastly overblown. That said this does look interesting and Dark Souls in an open world is the natural progression of their talents.

. . .I also liked the look of Dark Souls 3 and SEKIRO so the game engine looks fine to me.

Looks the same as every From Software game released last generation.

What exactly makes this different to Dark Souls 3?
try to look again but also element of game design this time.
and even if there were new things shown on that front would it really be a problem ?

From can really make a trailer.
To those who expected Ratchet and Clank graphics, development on this game started long before the PS5 kits came out. Was always gonna be cross gen.

Strange way to admit you couldn’t get past Taurus Demon.

Would probably be easier if you posted what you think makes it the same as Dark Souls 3, other than a broad visual identity.
