Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
Happy for y'all who love Soul Games.

But I just don't get the hype. And it looks awful graphically. Will be hard to play after Ratchet.

Wish they just cancelled the last gen versions lol

It’s gonna be sweet to play a From Software game in 60fps from the get go.

I’ve always played their games for the first time on my PS3 and my base PS4 so the initial impression has been blighttowned to an extent.

Why won't we?

Obviously its going to be the rare game to do it but once development tools catch up to hardware capability its certainly possible
Its a 5min demo, and probably cost millions and tons of devs just to produce it. Unless games are going to start getting 1bil budgets and 1000 devs producing them, then no there wont be many next gen games at that level. Even Naughty Dog, (probably the only studio, with a couple of other studios capable of reaching that level) probably wont reach it.

ELDEN RING features vast fantastical landscapes and shadowy, complex dungeons that are connected seamlessly.
Traverse the breathtaking world on foot or on horseback, alone or online with other players, and fully immerse yourself in the grassy plains, suffocating swamps, spiraling mountains, foreboding castles and other sites of grandeur on a scale never seen before in a FromSoftware title.
Create your character in FromSoftware's refined action-RPG and define your playstyle by experimenting with a wide variety of weapons, magical abilities, and skills found throughout the world.
Charge into battle, pick off enemies one-by-one using stealth, or even call upon allies for aid. Many options are at your disposal as you decide how to approach exploration and combat.

Okay that looked fuckin amazing. Happy it seems to have more fluid combat like Sekiro compared to DS even though it looks like a mix of both. Sekiro is my jam and enjoyed it a lot more than BB and the DS’s. That world is looking beautiful!

We expected it, we finally got it.
Elden Ring revealed himself to the world at the opening ceremony of the Summer Game Fest. A gameplay trailer punctuated with an interesting info: the release date.

As usual, the world of FromSoftware (co-created with George R. R. Martin this time, author of Game of Thrones) is very mysterious. We note, however, that the character is referenced as The Tarnished, which may remind the bearers of the mark of Dark Souls.
Fighting on horseback will also be part of the game. This trailer is very dense and also lets us glimpse the threats that we will encounter in this new universe.

Elden Ring releases January 21, 2022 on PS4/5, Xbox Series, XB1 et PC

I have no idea what it cost but I dont see how you got to that conclusion

The demo was mostly duplicated rock formations and dynamic lighting that made it look great. Its not like some dev sat there modelling every single pebble, its just procedural generation of assets in a denser image

Modelling the character model and animation probably took more work than the environments

What are you talking about?
This is a PS4 graphics game at best with next-gent support - 60fps, higher res and faster loading times, that's it. It's no Horizon FW at all.
Its doesn't mean it's bad game - art-style it top-notch, can't talk about everything else yet, but I do think it will be very good game.
I'm talking about graphics from tech perspective. I see this as missed opportunity and that's sad. I wish they push graphics just little bit further.
Also I'm a Souls-fan.

FromSoftware wants to take the Souls game experience to a broader level that is not restricted by the story/lore or the world like Dark Souls

Dark Souls was meant to be one game, not a series, but Bandai the ones who wanted Dark Souls 2 & 3

But It seems the new partnership between FromSoftware and Bandai Namco will go much further with Elden Ring

Idk, maybe in the near future we would see something like Elden Ring MMO?

Not gonna lie it definitely looks like a PS4/Xbone game but at least that means that playing it on PS5/XSX should have great performance. Wonder if it has create a character like Souls or a “real” character like Sekiro.

Why do people care so much about graphics? Art Direction, Gameplay, Story are what matter the most. Those are things that age well. Oh and good soundtrack too.
Graphics are the least important imo, they just need to be good or standard, no need to be revolutionary.

I was talking about the PS5 UE5 demo in that post lol, not this game.

Who said? Graphics is 80% of your perception. Of course game need to be great but why compromise on graphics if game is already good?

Next year huh...

I’m thinking they should have dropped last gen consoles.

This year alone we’re getting 5:1 ratio of current gen to last gen sales of cross gen games. It would only be more drastic next year.

Oh it's confirmed you create your own character and playstyle, awesome, i love Sekiro a lot, but gotta admit i miss those customizing aspects of the Souls game, so the replay value will be infinite like old Souls games, so excited can't wait!!

multiplayer also confirmed on that website...but what about...invasions?

I never played a Souls game and I’m hyped for this. So glad it’s a cross-gen title.

The world looks like it’ll be a joy to explore and discover. And the enemy designs are so varied and cool, with a couple of them reminding me of Shadow of the Colossus. I’m actually surprised the trailer showed so many of them.

Was always under the impression this was exclusive to Xbox...

Anyway, not a big soulsbourn fan but I can appreciate how fuckin cool this looks. Will probably buy and not come anywhere close to beating it.
