It's only up from here. It'll impress. They just need to present it properly. Either way I'm excited and will be playing it day 1.

I think they just need to show off a curated campaign trailer, not focusing on another gameplay walkthrough really. Multiplayer seems to be the focus according to key art. MP maps will be much more baked and impressive visually with static lighting, I imagine.

I revisited the gameplay demo from last year recently, and if you don't watch it and just LISTEN to it, the sound effects and sound mixing actually seems really, really good to me. Show that in multiplayer with their 'directional threat amplification' or whatever they talked about in Inside Infinite one month.... I think it'll be impressive.

Graphically it will be a big improvement over last year without a doubt, it will impress. The main thing I want to see is how many enemies and allies the engine can display at any one time. Is it capable of doing battles on a huge scale? 5 to 10 marines and Chief vs 25 to 30 enemies plus vehicles would be epic, that's more important than flashy graphics IMO.

It’s going to disappoint because they know that have to impress so they’ll try but the truth about Halo has always been that it plays better than it looks and better than it shows.

Their best shot will be to have filmed some actual LAN multiplayer with actual gamer-gamer streamers and show a montage of the best plays and then some feedback from said streamers about how it feels, imo.

That and shadow dropping a playable one map beta the same day for all Game Pass ultimate subscribers.

I'm betting it will look fantastic visually after a year to make changes. Hopefully the game play will look great as well.

Think they will do a Microsoft and show the game running on PC again? :messenger_grinning:
They will do a MS an also a CDProject. They will not show Xboxone version.

I won't say they have learned their lesson but I think Microsoft knows that they owe their base something special.
I think they will be very careful about what they show and it will be scrutinized 100 times internally before it is released so I would expect to see something with a ton of bells & whistles that looks near complete ( even if the rest of the games is not ready yet).

That being said, as long as it doesn't suffer from pop-in or any of the other issues seen in the previous viewing I think they score a win even if it looks just "OK" from a nextgen perspective.

They should do a Sony and show the game running at 30fps with all the bells and whistles. Then a week later announce a performance mode that runs the campaign at 60fps with reduced visual fidelity. Then it will grab all the headlines for how good it looks when nobody will actually play the game at 30fps 🤣🤣
All they have shown was Halo running on a PC. What a weird thing to say with that taken into account.

#SonyToo
They can’t win at this point, with what they shown people have already made their minds up and Sony fans waiting to pounce and trash it reguardless of how it looks.

I think we will se an improvement but not massivly

I think it will disappoint.
There were a huge hype before the first gameplay, then huge backlash (deserved)

Then time has past, wounded fans have seen some screenshots that gave them hope.
Hope is changing into « this time it will be good » then very good.

i am huge halo single player /coop fan, i am sure the game will be good but i kept my hype in check , i don’t want to be too disappointed.

who knows, maybe it will be more than good.

Oh come on, hardly looked like a 360 game. Everything has been improved don't worry about it, Joe Staten has been working with 343 for about a year now and he knows how to make Halo.

The gameplay part of the demo didn't, but that ending villain monologue was a drop in quality and very cringey.

Impress. Based on the images from the campaign, it looks so much better. If it looks like that in motion and it's running off Series X, I will be very happy.

The base line is 1.3tf outdated Xbox 1 graphically I can’t see it being that impressive.

People seem to forget gameplay is king and if it can half decent graphics showing some great fun gameplay then all that should matter.

Last year the gameplay looked no different than halo ce.

I think it will just about deliver the bar minimum to be classified a cross-gen with next gen highlights

I’m a big Halo fan, but you’ve just committed account seppuku/sudoku there friendo.
Halo 5 is rated 84 and that's the lowest rated mainline Halo game. There is no way this is worse than 5, Halo 4 is rated 87 and again this is certainly going to be better than that. All the rest are rated way above 90, it has a very good chance of rating 90 or above just going by past entries.

People that know and love Halo won’t care either way, as they know they are getting something fun regardless.
I voted "impress" although I'm not totally convinced that will truly be that case. I do however 100% completely believe the post I quoted.

Can't really tell about general reception. These days people expect them third person cinematic games, which this one ain't.
But for me personally I think I will continue looking forward to it. I was looking forward to it even last year, even if it didn't look amazing. There's few FPS games these days so every one counts. The genre itself has gets bonus points from me.
