Predictions: Will Halo Infinite impress or disappoint at E3?

Microsoft will have multiple headliners at E3 but Halo Infinite is the game everyone's been waiting for that still believe in 343.

There are no more delays, it will come out this year as it is shown at E3, so what you see is what you get. No more time to polish things up, no more time to refine the gameplay. This is it.

So let's put our names on our predictions, will Halo Infinite impress or disappoint at E3 2021? Do you have faith 343 will pull off this ambitious open sandybox Halo experience?

Its been 6 years since Halo 5, it can go either way.

It should be better than what we originally saw. But I don't know if 1 extra year can vastly improve the visuals.

There are no more delays, it will come out this year as it is shown at E3, so what you see is what you get. No more time to polish things up, no more time to refine the gameplay. This is it.

Delays can always happen if they believe it needs more development time to be good. And it needs to be good in my opinion.

I mean, I didn't have an issue with what they showed last time so if they are improving it from that, it can only be good! Although, I do wish they make it more like Destiny! LOL

I think graphically it'll be very similar, but they need to show a lot more of the game, then I think people will may be won over.

I think it will look decently enjoyable to play, but not amazing. I'm expecting lackluster AI shown.

I think they will impress. MS is in a lucky situation now as there are a lot of terrible decisions made by the new Sony management and MS has the chance to really come back and be their own best version since around 2009-2010. For this they need Halo to impress, among else. (fanboys leave me alone from either side, PS5 is my main but plan to get an XSX eventually as well)

They should do a Sony and show the game running at 30fps with all the bells and whistles. Then a week later announce a performance mode that runs the campaign at 60fps with reduced visual fidelity. Then it will grab all the headlines for how good it looks when nobody will actually play the game at 30fps 🤣🤣

I don't think many people have any expectations for this anymore?

At this point pretty much anything would be an improvement.

It will look improved, but I don't expect it to be a graphical benchmark by any means. 343 is what it is at this point. As long as it looks solid and shows off some good mechanics/performance/gameplay, then I'll be happy.

It is a tough spot to be in. You have to question the dedication of Microsoft on this one. They knew how important the game was and how much it meant for the Xbox Series S/X launch and they had enough time for it and somehow it ended up so bad that they had to cave in to the concerns of internet people hoping it is going to be delayed. (Obviously this is better for everyone. Nobody wants to play another crackdown 3)

With that being said I am certain that Microsoft is now micromanaging this development very carefully, because it is more than just a game for Microsoft. It has to be a success and can't be shrugged off if it were to fail. So I am pretty positive that this game is at least an 85/100 and will impress almost all Xbox gamers.

I am not expecting the game to be a graphical benchmark for the Series X / PS5 generation though, but it will be a substantial upgrade from last year

It will forever be tainted. Regardless on how much they improve from last years showing. With that said, still a day 1 game for me on PC.

I think it depends on who you ask, I mean some people seemed perfectly fine with how it looked

I think it might be a ”meh” for the younger audience, unimpressive for those that crave next gen graphics, impressive for Halo fans and GOTY for those that were fine with it from the beginning.

I don’t think it will be nearly the game changer many hope it will be, but that’s just me guessing

That is not how this works.
Halo won't go gold until, what...October? Graphical polish, gameplay tweaks and general refinement occurs during the final months of development of basically ALL AAA titles. If Microsoft shows Halo running in real time(they will), that build is almost certainly already outdated by the time the presentation goes down, let alone by the time they have the Day One patch ready. I also wouldn't be surprised if they show it without RT, VRS, etc...despite it likely being in place at launch.
And this all assumes it doesn't get delayed again.

I think for it to impress, people need to know what Halo infinite is...which is a spiritual successor to Halo CE. As long as people feel Halo Infinite is "Halo 6" they are going to be disappointed.

I'm betting it will look fantastic visually after a year to make changes. Hopefully the game play will look great as well.

Think they will do a Microsoft and show the game running on PC again? :messenger_grinning:

I think it will show a big improvement over what we have seen and that their marketing team will take care that they show it in the best way possible tailored to appeal the fans.

But I think that many fans may be too hyped and thirsty to see Halo made great again and next gen horsepower showcase, so their expectatives may be too high and they can be dissapointed.

Outside them, Sony and Nintendo fans who aren't MS fans are so happy with their respectives exclusives so I doubt could be impressed by Halo.

Regarding the more neutral people who aren't fanboys of one of these console factions I assume some may be impressed, some may be dissapointed but I highly doubt they may have big expectatives. Probably aren't invested on shooters and if they are, it may be in other ones currently more popular, like CoD, Fortnite and so on.

In average for all gamer types, I'd say the previous video highly reduced the expectations on it so it so it will be easier to impress people since I assume it will look way better than many people expected.

Ask me about my Stream Deck
They should have released it at launch like planned and improved though patches. At this point, if it looks amazing, how could you believe it knowing it has to run across generations. Unless, that is, MS allows a cyberpunk situation where the game is great on series x, passable on series s/one x, and 15fps on one/s.

I really think they will concentrate on multiplayer at E3, gameplay mechanics, modes, weapon balance and map reveals.
I actually wouldnt be surprised if thats true. I could see some multiplayer footage, maybe a live multiplayer match, with just a new trailer for the campaign. Its only a 90min conference, and imo a sizeable chunk of that will be used for the full Starfield reveal..
I'm sure Microsoft will be having another show before the fall games release.

As the recent Horizon showcase has shown us, one side will find a screenshot of one flash second on screen and take it out of context and parade it around as a meme.

The Infinite showcase last year wasn't as awful as people painted it. Sure, definitely was a disappointment from the original graphics. But that happens, even to heralded franchises from Sony (uncharted for example). I thought the gameplay and mechanics looked fine, the visuals were bad in places and definitely needed time and hopefully that stuff has been corrected. Time will tell. I think it'll impress those who are open to being impressed and those interested in disliking it will dislike it. War never changes.

You never know how 'bad' the XB1 version will be. We already know the game is using biomes, or mini open worlds for its levels. For all we know the XB1 version could be 720p/30. Poeple are just assuming it will be 60fps on XB1.

It will impress some!

It will disappoint others!

I do not believe they would show it if it was going to disappoint. At least not on the same level of disappointment we saw last year.

Probably 30fps for Campaign and 60fps for multiplayer like Gears 5. X1X and XSS versions will be very interesting with VRS being a certainty, I wonder if they have had time to get SFS or Mesh Shaders in.

Option 3. Neither. They had to cancel the last gen versions to make any substantial changes to the visuals. They didnt.

Gameplay wise the combat looked stale and boring. It's gonna be like Gears 5 which some people liked so maybe it might impress fans of the series.
