Me neither.

The 60 fps mode in Spiderman miles for 1440p drs with it dropping to 1080p only when the frame dropped below 60 fps

and even then their TAAU is so impressive that 1440p looks way closer to 2160p than I've seen in most other engines. So I think the 60fps mode will look awesome regardless of its internal resolution.

The visuals in that Push Square preview are ridiculous. I can't wait for the leagues to dismiss this game and the technical foundation it is built on because of it's cartoon nature.

So... 4k30 OR 1080p60.

If I had a PS5, I'd play it at 1080p60 simply because my TV is that resolution (so it'd look sharp) AND extremely fluid at 60 fps.
probably the same settings as miles. also insomniac technique is insane. miles 60fps rtx looks unbelievable good on my cx.

their Temporal injection is far and ahead any other sony first party studio.
i knew i wasnt crazy

Looks amazing. I'm jealous of those of you who are going to play it on high-end OLED tvs. I can't even imagine how jaw-droppingly beautiful it will look.

If you play this in 1080p (and own a 4K TV) you are a fucking psychopath.

4K30 or nothing to experience every drip of these mindblowing visuals :messenger_heart:
Ratchet PS4 downsampled on my 1080p tv looked so clean it felt like a pixar movie. I dont think i have ever seen a game like that before.

Then i bought a 4k tv and while the extra detail and resolution was great, I still fondly remember my first playthrough at 1080p with supersampling.

And that was a 1440p image downsampled to 1080p. This game is true native 4k.

Pre-ordered. It looks jawdropping. And what a lot of people seem to be forgetting: this game is coming out a little bit over half a year after launch.

Compare first year games of past consoles to those that came out towards the end of their cycle... We have beautiful things waiting for us.

I have to say....

The leap between PS4 Ratchet and PS5 Ratchet is probably the biggest I've seen in the entire series. It's just astonishing what's on display here. If this is indicative of other leaps, then nobody should be disappointed with the hardware we have this gen. It will produce some incredible looking games once we leave last-gen behind.

I love 4K and I would even jump to 8K when content is available if I had an 8K camera. I finished Spiderman MM at 4K@30fps RT, then tested the Performance RT mode and it's really the best mode. Maybe not as sharp as native 4K RT but very close with their intelligent reconstruction!

I downloaded infamous on my ps5 and was shocked to see how bad it looked compared to Spiderman and ghost of tsushima. I remember it being the best looking game on ps4 back in March 2014. That was the game that made photomode a thing and by the end of the gen it felt dated. Crazy.

Ratchet is native 4k so they are wasting a lot of the gpu horsepower just rendering pixels. They could get 2x more power by using their 1620p temporal injection system. I suspect we will see that in Spiderman.

Is this confirmed? I would surely choose this option, if present.
It isn't confirmed for R&C yet, if that's what you meant. We were talking about the performance mode in Spider-Man Miles Morales (which runs at a dynamic 1080p to 1440p + 60 FPS + RT).

Insomniac has the confirmed the quality mode: 4K + 30 FPS + RT. But they haven't confirmed the performance mode. Rich from ReviewTechUSA tried creating drama by digging up a 10-month old article that wondered if the performance mode will be 1080p + 60 FPS (no RT). Insomniac's community manager shut it down by pointing that this is a very old article.

So my hope is that it will at least run better than that. Let's wait for official numbers though.

Nah, at 30fps give me Native 4k and max effects. At 60fps then yea reduce resolution to boost performance but keep the effects like Ray Tracing and use their Temporal Injection to boost the image quality to close to a 4k image. Thats what there doing and I think its the right call.

Edit: By the time Spiderman 2 comes out (Q4 2022?)
AMD FX will have been out for awhile, making Native Resolution even less important. But that has to be imported into game engines and that can take awhile if my understanding is correct.

Considering the fidelity of reconstructed 4k, and the cost of native 4k, I think that for this gen 'cheating' to hit higher resolutions is definitely the order of the day. Native 4k is a pointless expenditure.
