New Metroid Rumors Have Nintendo Fans Excited

Eh OK. I don't want to come off as ungrateful, more Metroid is always good, but I want to see Nintendo getting behind a real sequel. It has been so long. I mean shit, I have friends who have kids that are going to college now and shit and they were born AFTER the last major Metroid game came out.

Considering how badly Mercury steam missed the point of Metroid II I'd rather they stay as far away from Super as possible.
I thought Samia returns was received well wasn't it?

I never played that one because I played a lot of Asmr2.... The fan made Metroid 2 game can't remember the exact name.

I took one look at this and didn't like the art style and never bothered

Super Metroid is nearly perfect. It still looks amazing too. Zero need for a remake. Just do a new game ffs. Imagine after all this time their big Metroid announcements are decades old games? Barf.
Yeah true, we don’t need a remake as bad as we need an actual new Metroid game.

Still, I’d love a version with some QoL improvements in the form of a slightly more zoomed out perspective to fit more things on the screen and to change the missile and power bomb controls to the same as the ones used in Metroid Fusion.

I've heard rumor that Mercury Steam has completed a 2D style Metroid game and that it's been completed for a while. Probably the remake that's being mentioned in the OP.

Whatever I'm game for any of it. I literally just installed Metroid Prime on Dolphin and have it running with Primehack to play with Mouse and Keyboard just today. I look forward to jumping into Prime, haven't played them since they first came out all those years ago.

Yeah, no kidding, feel like I've been hearing Metroid rumors for years now with nothing ever happening.

I know next to no one played it, but they did a hell of a good job with Samus Returns and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, so it's not completely out of the question they can catch fire again... But yeah, they don't have a SOLID record as far as consistency.
I really enjoyed their two 3DS games so I'm looking forward to their first Switch one. I do think it's a new game not a remake though.

People get excited easily these days. Can't say I really care for a super metroid remake bit it would make sense as they already remade Metroid 1 and 2 so 3 should be a no-brainer.

Not what I want though I will reluctantly take the prime trilogy

Eh, I still remember Mirror Of Fate which is a 6/10 serviceable Castlevania.

And then remakes on the Switch are full price.

For 90$tx incl. , it better be the best remake ever.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
I would write Nintendo off forever if this was true.

Its been 19 years since the last metroid game. Get the fuck out of here with this talk of another remake.

Nintendo doesn't have time there still might be some WiiU shit to port

Can you explain a bit more about this? I never really did Metroid II on Game Boy and didn’t really dig the remake much. I can’t even remember if I finished it.

Azelover

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
Just stay true to the essence of Metroid.

I'm sorry, but it's not that difficult.

Just get the egos out of the way, and think of the fans, and it'll probably be alright.

METROID for Nintendo Switch listed at Walmart

Could this mean an announcement is coming up soon? Maybe at E3?

Lazy box art, that has me worried the game itself has had little effort put into it.

Seriously though, very exciting, Switch Pu rumors of imminent reveal and now this. Although the box art could be related to the rumours and its all bullshit, hopefully not though.

Double down on the environmental tutorials in SM, we really need more modern games where you have to actually work out how to play it yourself and it comes naturally through gameplay.

Nintendo is obsessed by pop-up window tutorials nowadays though, although having said that BotW still did let you work out tons of stuff by observing/exploration/experimentation.

How about making Metroid Dread? I mean actually making it this time around.

Super Metroid would be cool for new visuals, but it's not a game that aged poorly. Some may be put off by the somewhat tank-like controls that got more fluid in later installments, but that's really the only thing I can think of that could be reworked. Metroid I and Metroid II got remakes because they are inherently flawed games (although I'll take AM2R over the official remake), but Super Metroid is still as grand as it ever was.

So yeah it would be nice, could be a safe way to make the franchise more talked about again, but personally, I just want new games.

I played Zero Mission, AM2R, Super and Fusion back to back last year for the first time and after ZM and AM2Rs controls feeling amazing I was kinda bummed at how SM felt when I first started it, but I barely needed 30 minutes to adjust and I appreciated the different style they were going for, so if I can get it that fast after just doing 30 hours of ZM-physics Metroid games I don't think anyone would/should complain about it.

I’m so in.
I’m one of the people that loved Other M and Samus Returns, so I will be all over this
Yeah i still want Sakamoto involved on Metroid somehow, as long as he keeps his vision of Samus were it belongs on his wet dreams and focus on reviving the 2D design of the series.

Because its clear Metroid Prime 4 lost its way some time ago, i wish Retro luck but i really have no faith anymore 😴

Looking at their track record, Mercury Steam is a coin flip developer in terms of quality.

I also don't think it is really a flaw. Some games need to be learned. Not everything plays the same and it shouldn't be that way. Learning a game is part of the fun IMO.

I'll take 10 individual games that may not play perfectly but differently over 10 super polished games with the same mechanics etc. any day of the week.

Yeah the core team that designed Metroid Prime is long gone. I don’t believe MP4 will ever release either.
I really like Metroid and hope Nintendo keeps making Metroid games.

I'm one of the biggest Metroid fans out there and if it's like Samus Returns (but better graphics obviously)... I'd be excited. Having played the original back when it released and last year, as well as playing AM2R and Samus Returns this year... I love both.

If you want it like the GBA games or like the original.. just play the original.

Sure, why not. It'll be worse than Super Metroid if it is indeed that, but I've completed Super Metroid more times than I can even count at this point, so I'll take something different.

Please no Mercury Steam. Their game was awful.
to be fair they make solid games that run well, they just need more help with the designs.... oh shit wonder if they will be bought out by Nintendo.

if Nintendo go way forward to make a 2D pixel art Metroid game that would be awesome as fuck
