Of course, it's successful for them. What are they going to say? 'This game we just released is shit and so is the studio that made it, all in all we fucked up, lol'

I mean it's not a shit game or studio at all, but why would they call it anything other than a success?
they could just stay quiet and let their fans pretend is a success like the other console brand does…

No, Miles sold really well. The question remains how much it sold on PS5 vs PS4.

Ask yourself why Miles is always in PS5 charts, PS4 version isn't. UK charts is a proof why Miles is always on charts when there huge amount of PS5s appears

Btw. 3 years ago Dead Cells, one of the best rougelike games, released ( August 7 2018 ) on Switch. There were almost 5 mil. NSW in Japan back then, wasn't in top 30.

They would normally avoid talking about it...

For the record, InFamous SS has sold 1 million on 7 million install base back then. Sony said it is a success. Cut the crap. It is a sale success on that small install base.

I don't even think it has much to do with sales per se, rather the actual profits - GoT sold a ton, everyone knows that, but Returnal is a relatively small project, it's an AA game basically, without tons of characters that needed months of voice acting and mo-cap sessions, and 70€ price tag on top, so I think it's safe to say the game broke even really really fast, and quickly started to generate pure profit, despite not hitting millions of copies sold within a week.

And it was #1 in Japan, and yet barely sold any copies. That's entirely my point. Just wait for some real numbers before making celebratory threads. Unless you enjoy crow that is :messenger_tongue:
On a serious note here, do you hate PlayStation or something, you seem to always be operating in PlayStation topics mostly trying to downplay things or cast some sort of negative shade about them.

Kinda like Darkmage.

And i am sure i am not the only one that sees this going on.

What gives?

You should watch the full credits for Returnal and maybe you’ll be surprised. There’s nothing small about it.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.

no matter how many times people like you say double A that doesnt make it double A. regardless even if it was double A the game is great so it doesnt even matter, but my point still stands.

This is a discussion forum. When things are debatable (like the claim in this thread), I want to discuss it. What's the problem?

Hint: if the thread was about how Miles is a successful game or whatever, you wouldn't see me here because there's nothing debatable about it :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

It did the same in Japan, but only sold roughly 2000 copies. That's why these rankings are pretty much useless if you want to gauge the success of a game.
The Japan physical only ranking is irrelevant... that is pretty evident.

It is accurate for hardware thought.

Good for them. I was definitely curious about getting it, but the full AAA price point made it hard for me TBH.

I'm sure for some it's well worth the cost, but I've read/heard from others that disagreed. With the amount of incredible rogue lite games that I've played over the years that were less than half the price of Returnal, it just feels kind of strange to pay for something THAT high. Especially when hearing more about its nuances and intricacies.

Housemarque alone is like 80 people, so no wonder the list is long, but the question is how much work other than guys sitting in their office in front of their PCs was really done? It's not a secret MP titles are the cheapest games to make because of low R&D cost and minimal/lack of VA/mo-cap, just as in Returnal. It really doesn't look like it's as expensive to make as, let's say Miles Morales, which is actually the cheaper game here.

How is this Sony response compared to Days Gone ?
They could have waved their dongs around saying it a masterpiece but I don't think they did. And I doubt it sold that poorly.
