Uncharted 4 Coming to PC According to Sony Documents

Well, I would, everytime I try to play one of them I get bombarded by info screens to buy skins and ad-ons. It's sickening,
Well GAAS is more like a starting base, often with limited content (see SOT at launch), and then years of content updates, usually but not always free content updates.
having dlc's or MTX doesnt mean you are a GAAS game.

If Sony shorten the port period from the 4/5 years that UC4 and Horizon have seen to instead the ~2 years that Days Gone (or even year that Death Stranding got) got then I literally see no reason for anyone remotely serious about video games to own a PS or Xbox console ever again.

Uncharted and particularly 4 is a flagship PS game, arguably the flagship game/series. If it's coming to PC then pretty much every Sony 1st party will eventually imo.

Seems like both Sony and MS feel they've attracted enough of the "casual" market that they can afford to forgo enthusiast sales in terms of consoles going forward.

Dude i'm a PC only gamer, and i freely admit that PC gaming isnt for everyone. Many people dont want the hassle, dont have the money, or wouldnt have a clue how to update drivers, nevermind something like replacing hardware. I never got this idea when everyone said the same about Xbox when they went console and PC, and i still wont get the argument when/if Sony do the same.

The point of consoles is the ease of use, the 'plug and play' nature, the portabiltiy, etc.

Look at XB1, had some of the worst PR and mindshare i have ever seen at the start of a console launch, and had althrough its lifespan, yet it still managed to sell 50mil consoles, with all those problems, and its exclusives launching day and date on PC for 2 thirds of its lifespan.

There will always be PC only gamers, console only gamers, and gamers that game on both.

I can see this happening for cross gen games like Horizon Forbidden West and Miles Morales as those games are designed around a HDD. The problem with PS5 exclusives are that those games are designed around the SSD. Yes PC does have a SSD but to have a minimum spec for SSD only PC gamers will decrease the PC market of gamers so the work wouldn't be worth it for such a small market. However I can see after several years once SSD is so common on PC they will start putting their PS5 lineup.

I'd never played uncharted, but uncharted 4 was so good when i played it that i bought the official trilogy remastered to finish first and haven't played 4 since. I've got stuck towards the end of 1, the combat is just annoying enough to outweigh the sense of exploration... I know that I've got 2, apparently the best, waiting, but that's not enough to get me back on the horse, it seems... Anyway my uncharted meter is stuck back at 0 for the foreseeable future

Yeah but I'm not talking about everyone, I'm talking about people serious about their video games. People like that do have the money and do have the knowhow. Prior it was exclusive that hand tied them into buying consoles, in particular Playstation. Now with that barrier potentially gone there's zero reason to own a PS.

Obviously I say "potentially" because we don't known exactly how much is going to be ported over and after how long. But again my assessment is based on the assumption it's going to basically be all Sony 1st party games and they won't be 4-5 year waiting periods.

Dude trust me, play 2 and 3, they are fantastic games. Uncharted 1 is very dated gameplay wise, with annoying bullet sponge enemies (even by Uncharted standards lol).
2 and 3 are fantastic games.

Hmm. That's a good point actually that I hadn't considered.

I guess Sony's strategy might be to port over last gen games as the new generation is starting. So PS5 games as PS6 is launching, by that point as you said SSD on PCs would be far more wide spread and Sony wouldn't butcher PS5 sales and would increase the life span/profit of basically dead last gen games sale wise.

IIRC Horizon sold 700k units in its first month. lets assume lifetime its double that. thats 1.5 million units at $60 or $90 million. 30% valve cut brings it down to $60 million. days gone sold half which is expected since it was never as popular or well received as horizon on ps4. so thats $30 million.

thats it. sony did this for $30 million lol. $15 million first month. I am guessing Jimbo got a nice yacht out of it because i dont see this making a dent in their quarterly earnings.

I see they are looking to go all in on mobile and GaaS games so yeah, they have become like every other publisher chasing money whereever the fad takes them. The funny thing is that they dont realize they are a hardware company and the moment they stop selling hardware is the moment they will stop selling software, services, and whatever the fuck they are trying to do with mobile.

By diluting the value of their hardware.... their main product, they are essentially becoming a third party publisher who like everyone else have to play by a different set of rules. Profits before quality. Games designed in boardrooms by money hungry execs instead of artists. Shoving Microtransactions and services where they dont belong. they will soon turn into ubisoft or worse EA.

Oh well. it was fun while it lasted. expecting a public company to put gamers over shareholders was wishful thinking anyway. its just business. The one good thing is that gamers no longer have to spend $60 a year for PS+ and will likely get 60 fps versions of sony exclusives on PC on day one. instead of buying the ps5 pro or waiting for a PS6 patch. I mostly game on PCs nowadays anyway so this is good news for me.

"Console exclusive. Plays best on pc"

Good choice, I can’t imagine what it’ll look like maxed out on a 3090. Great move for the industry and for consumers.
Agreed, the more that comes to pc the better.

At this time the consoles fight versus each other (the one more than the other), while the pc gamers just keep winning on both accounts.

LMAO ... waiting 3 to 5 year for a console port... and "winning"
I'd say that's a winning.

So many great games gets released every year.
You don't lose anything on waiting for a single player game.

I'd rather wait 3 to 4 years on s game, where I'm not crippled by low fps and subpar graphics which my pc could make more pretty.

You could even upgrade to a beefy GPU by the price of a console. That's another big win right there.

Or do you mean sonys exclusives only are good within the first six months?

Because if so... They weren't really that great to begin with if the honeymoon quickly loses its glare.

Sounds great. No reason to not release on PC for a game that's that old and can just help bring in some revenue, and give PC gamers the option to play it if they want.

Respectfully speaking, do you really have to resort to calling PS4 version low fps and subpar graphics?

I have an RTX3080 as well but I bought and enjoyed U1 2 3 and 4 day1 . They looked and still look A M A Z I N G

I say 30 fps is dangerous digits yes, and the graphics are subpar.

It looks pretty given the hardware it runs off, yes. But it could look a thousand times better on pc.

Just because a game is old it doesn't make it bad. Not everyone needs to play something day one in order to enjoy it. In fact with the way the industry is going at the moment it's often best to wait until all the patches have arrived and you can get the "complete" edition with all the DLC for less than the price of the original game.

Everyone will have certain franchises (or games from certain developers) they "must play" day one (I have a list of my own that fit in to that category) but not everyone's lists will be the same.

People really underestimate the popularity of Uncharted among PC gamers, the sales would crazy even with just Uncharted 4. Just look at MGS 5 that launched without any MGS 4 PC port or the sales of Persona 5 strikers without Person 5 Royal. Or did we all just forget that 90% of Witcher players only played Witcher 3 and not 1 or 2?

Having an SSD in your desktop PC is no longer a luxury, it's practically a must for all boot drives, and I don't think there's a single pre-build manufacturer out there that even sells a desktop without one, so I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say "once SSD is so common". The average price for a high quality Samsung 250GB SSD NVMe drive is about $65.

With that said, the PS5's SSD is merely an efficiency of engineering. It basically attempts to limit bottlenecks in data transfer. It doesn't change how the game effectively performs outside of load times and asset pop-in, and we can't actually measure that unless we have some kind of comparable cross-platform game. At most, the only measurable difference we've seen has been between RE: Village on PS5 and XSX, where loading times were different by a few seconds, and Capcom had no limitations on utilizing PS5's supposed advantages.

Within the next two to three years, PC hardware advancements will have already rendered much of the bottlenecks moot. Things like Resize-BAR or SAM just recently limited bandwidth from the CPU to GPU, giving games a 10 to 15% boost in performance.

So, Horizon and Spoderman will scale quite easily on PC, me thinks.

100 million for a couple of ports of lesser known/acclaimed games. If they can release one of those every couple of months they are looking at half a billion dollars a year for minimal effort.
They aren't diluting the value of their hardware by releasing 4 year old games from hardware they no longer produce. These titles have been as low 10 bucks on their platform and/or given away for free via psplus. They milked all the sales out of this as they were gonna get on their own platform.
Putting these games on PC introduces new players to what Playstation has to offer. Some Playstation players are also double dipping to get better performance on PC for games they already own. I myself have purchased both Horizon and Days Gone after playing them on PS4.

I have to be honest here. I've been reading a lot of information about playstation especially from gaf users. And I can confidently say that I don't see a way a PC can run uncharted 4. Playstation is just too powerful
Will be interesting see it running on a low tier build from 2013.

now the people that was calling it walking simulator are drooling lol
Every PC gamer called it a walking simulator?, every one of them?.
Actually i want the orig trilogy remaster. Uncharted 2 and 3 are fantastic games, and much better than U4 imo.

I love how fanboys got debunked by a Sony corporate slide where they stated that ports have over 250% ROI and are KEY at entering emerging markets where 1/3rd of the earth lives. People on these forums need to understand that most of the world is not like US/Canada or Western Europe. You can't go to Best Buy and get a cheap Memorial Day/Black Friday console bundle. Or get a used console dirt cheap on Craigslist...

For a lot of the world, consoles are luxury item thanks to massive taxes, lack of official vendors and regional pricing... while having a decent computer is as basic as having running water. Want to game? Add extra ram and a graphics card on top.

That being said, I would have gone with every other first party game but Uncharted 4. Hopefully that's not the next in line... terrible choice. Time for some japanese goodness, pay some interns to port the Gravity Rush games - Last Guardian or SoTc remake.
