Xbox Series X|S reportedly passed the PS5 to be the second best-selling console in the UK in April

In April i didn't had a pizza to sell, and my friend had 10 pizza to sell.

Guess what, my friend sold more pizza than i did :shockedAFgif:

So. Your friend sold more..Gotcha.

This is what you call "persecution complex."

Funny coming from you considering your first post in the thread :/

Console war race to second in ONE heavily supply-constrained market is irrelevant regardless of who gets the silver medal.

That's not the point; the point is that several times now we've also seen PS5 come in 2nd to Switch (not just in UK but also in America) and I didn't see many people being dismissive of said performance (nor should they have). There have also been people using that in the past to concern-troll the 3rd-place system (Xbox Series) in those results, ignoring the fact MS are also supply-constrained relative to demand and selling through pretty much everything they can manufacture and put on shelves.

There's more than a clear double-standard, I saw it in this thread and in the ReeeeeesetERA thread as well. But hey, folks don't like being told the truth about themselves I guess 🤷‍♂️

Not that I consider the console war relevant to begin with, but people will have fun as they can, I guess.

Same; the entire idea of console wars is idiotic. I question how some can have "fun" engaging in it, particularly when it leads to pretty toxic behavior in the community and stifles genuine discussion and engagement (never mind the fact Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are pretty much on great terms with each other and likely laugh reading console warrior posts when they have spare time to read any).

However, that doesn't excuse those who engage in it and take it too far, because some do take it too far.

Watching those numbers only tells us one thing. MS did deliver more consoles than Sony in April to the UK. As both are practically sold out, this is the only thing you can get from these numbers.
Might also have something to do with the ship that blocked the route to Europe in April. Or Sony now delivers more console e.g. to the chinese market. As production didn't go up (no free capacities) this might also be an explanation.

I have never seen a Series X in any store.
I have never seen one for sale online (although I only started looking in February)
Where and when do these magical stock drops occur? I followed the Datalover channel for a while, but I'm convinced that's nothing more than a joke account. Every time there is supposedly a drop, the units are "Out of Stock" before my finger can click my mouse button.
i got mine from a store... and I got it very impulsively PCWorld at Tottenham court road... they actually had stock for quite a while just before Christmas and even after but then we went into lockdown but I think you could still go to the shop and ask them to bring it to you and you pay at the door... I took a picture of it at the till

What part of it is funny? That post simply expresses my sympathy (and bafflement) for people who have to distort something like this into a "win" to appease a brand-aligned console warrior reader base. I'd be extremely distressed being constricted to doing unpaid marketing for a console brand ignoring and/or dismissing the rest of the industry regardless of whether they may have games I'm interested in.

Have you seen posts quoting articles from PlayStation fanboy sites that headlined something like "PS5 beat Xbox Series X|S in X?" where the Switch was actually first? Because In that case, yes. I'd judge them exactly the same way. I haven't seen any tho. Not saying they don't exist, but if they do, I've missed em.

Same; the entire idea of console wars is idiotic.

If you find it idiotic, why do you care so much that you have to make an unfitting comparison with a forum where people are banned on sight with inane motivations simply for writing something a moderator arbitrarily did not like?

  • According to the report, the Xbox Series X|S duo comfortably passed the PS5 amidst its lagging supply.
  • The Nintendo Switch retained its top spot, however, where it continues to dominate console sales.
  • The Xbox Wireless Controller also beat out the PS5 DualSense for best-selling controller in the UK.

Pretty funny that when the xbox outsells the ps5 it's "amidst it's lagging supply" but when the xbox is outsold by ps5 it's just due to demand - like supply had nothing to do with it.

Can't really tell anything until both are able to be purchased without having to stalk twitter accounts that update in restocks. I have no doubt PS5 will be comfortably ahead the entire generation it's just a more popular global brand but by how much and who makes the most money will be the interesting thing to watch.

Does PS5 Is The Prefered Console Among Devs According to GDC 2021 Survey count? Tries to undersell that the PC was the #1 preferred platform for developers to further a console war narrative.

I guess it does yes.

And see my answer.

Perhaps it's be better not to just parrot a clickbaiting website and write one's own title which would be more representative of reality and less designed to trigger console warriors.

Something like "PC Is The Preferred Platform Among Devs According to GDC 2021 Survey"

Because that's what it is. 😂

And I'm not the only one mentioning that.

Sony also managed to secure more of amds wafer allocations than MS, maybe that contract has finished and AMD are keeping some of their production capacity for themselves now and it's placing sony and ms on a more even supply capacity.

Looks like the titles was about consoles not PC, don't see how that's a relevant response.
Title should have been "PC Is The Preferred Platform Among Devs According to GDC 2021 Survey." But was titled the way it was to further a console war narrative in favor of PS5. It's very disingenuous. If it was the Console Developers Conference you'd have a point. But it wasn't, so you don't.

Artificially excluding the PC platform from the headline on a site that isn't even console-dedicated means that the title was designed as clickbait to trigger console war reactions, which isn't any better than this.

Again, why not simply title "PC Is The Preferred Platform Among Devs According to GDC 2021 Survey" ? That's what the reality of the survey is. Anything else is a distortion.

No not really, consoles aren't really in direct competition with PC the way they are with each other, PC isn't even a fixed platform. If people want to talk about the console space specifically PC has nothing to do with it.

I think PC is a competition for the fact that it seems to become more popular as a gaming platform again. and therefore it can cut into the marketshare of consoles that way.

Gotta be seriously desperate to resort to rumormongering for a "victory" in the race to second place that isn't anything more than "Console manufacturer X managed to put more consoles on the market than console manufacturer Y in a specific month in a specific market, because everything is put in the market is sold."

Writing for a brand fanboy website must be hard... 🤔
I could've sworn both consoles had supply constraints due to lack of AMD gpu's. Stop the cap!

PC is absolutely a platform, and it's absolutely in competition with consoles for people's money.

You have completely missed the point.

gonna be 360/ps3 again. no surprises since the feels of the new Xboxes are very welcoming like the old days. Phil has done a great turnaround job, double confirmed.

SS/SX should edge it in NA, UK :messenger_spock: :messenger_smiling_hearts:

MS can win this gen.

Seriously.

They just need to drop Halo Infinite and Starfield Back to back on gamepass this fall.

There are variables in this. Starfield needs to be ready and infinite needs to be much improved than what was shown.

It will be Gears of War moment from 2006 all over again.

It would make a really fantastic PhD in anthropology if a particularly tech savvy and adventurous student investigated the phenomenon of any internet gaming forum thread featuring anything positive about Microsoft or Xbox - regardless of how tepid it may be - degenerating into an incoherent shouting match populated by absolute morons at roughly the speed of light.

If somehow we could harness the dumbness energy that blasts out of threads of this type, we could easily use it for interstellar travel.

It's shocking to me after these 2 threads, the debate rages on.

You can go through March and April as well if you want, but it's the same as the first 2 with everyone digging in further.

So what happens if Sony can't ship enough units and somehow MS manages to ship a few more million units over the next year, will this forum implode?
It would be funny to see one console win over a another simply due to supply, I'm not sure that would have ever happened before to this level.
If that did happen, it might be all the momentum MS needs to start to convert more people, press cycles about it leading next gen coupled with gamepass and a strong showing of games this fall.

Or Vice versa, Sony manages to churn out a few million more consoles and it's enough to keep the narrative of dominance alive enough to sway those on the fence, giving them the victory by hardware availability only regardless of all other factors or competition.
