I ASKED if you were simple, but to be fair you've grown on me recently, I hope we can still be bros! I mean, me and kretos kretos eventually became best buds!

Oh fine

But don't get the wrong Idea it's only because i feel sorry for you b-baka

Don't tell us Phil Hermen, show us. Wonder if Sony will continue the tradition of announcing/showing games waaay before they are ready, and then delay them a few times even further. Also, quality over quantity, 25 doesn't mean much if it's games like Knack, The Order, Killzone, TLG etc. games barely anyone cares about.
The thing is that Sony exclusives are not video games, they are interactive videos.
Remove the word “game” from the formula and put in interactive, you get interactive videos.

So three AAA titles and twenty two AA indie titles?

(And don't get me wrong, i feel the same way about MS when they announce number of titles in development until we actually see them)

Assuming you're being sarcastic, higher than a kite, or haven't played a PS exclusive ever.

But who knows, rumors say they want to get back into MP field, so chances are at least some of those 25 games are MP-oriented.
some games are better than no games.

Imagine an E3 Sony conference where the lights going down and the main theme of the first game starts playing and a trailer of a new Wild Arms starts playing on the screen.
Of course Sony would never show a Wild Arms game at a major conference but it's nice to dream. :)
Even if it's not Wild Arms it can be another j-RPG, but Wild Arms would be interesting and fresh because of its style, i can't think of a quality game related to wild west outside of Red Dead, and obviously no RPG is similar to Wild Arms. This franchise would be a breath fresh air specially nowadays where Most RPG are based on fantastics/medieval, which are great of course but it's so bloated with those today.

And that's where Hermen will have to make his proofs, Returnal is great, but so far the new IP announcements doesn't excite me one bit, Jayde Raymond thing and Bungie Gaas? no thanks. Still no news about Kojima, no Bloodborne 2 or new FS exclusive deal, and we know there won't be another Gravity game, but instead we heard there's a 2013 game that didn't need a remake and is being remade because of TV show propriety.

All this talk is nice but we'll have yet to see, i tend to be more careful to the talker than the silent people, specially since blabla king aka Phil Spencer.

For those who truly believe Sony doesn't have the most insanely diverse catalog of titles, have you ever really looked at their output over the last few years? Even just starting in 2013 from the PS4 launch?

It's honestly staggering. I cannot even fathom how one could have that take. Someone needs to make a list.

But when people refer to Sony lacking "diversity" they are referring to the big AAA games

If you honestly believe that there is a "worst fanbase in the industry", then you are probably a fanboy, it's basically impossible to make a sweeping statement on millions of people based solely on what video game system they prefer, and you would just be making an opinion off a small handful of people you have experience with, which is completely useless. Xbox/PS/Nintendo fans are all basically the same, humans who like video games, none are better or worse than another.

As for the topic, that's exciting, hopefully they're all true first party or games that wouldn't have existed without Sony, more games is always a good thing

Probably because looking in to the ecosystem from their perspective, there is a great focus on the award winning games from the media etc. and it causes a huge amount of resentment among other platforms that they can't replicate that success...... so the negative feelings are focused on those particular types of games.

Many of the criticisms lumping games together also rely on rather tenuous connections, that really have no bearing on the gameplay, story or anything else..... like the 3rd person perspective, the fact that there are forested areas in many of the games etc.

According to an article published by Wired where they spoke with Hermen Hulst, Sony has more than 25 first-party titles in development for PlayStation 5, and nearly half of them are entirely new IPs originating from different studios from different regions.
Those are ranging from AAA big budget games to Indie titles. Yes, the output for this generation from PlayStation is likely to be crazy.

Hermen Hulst, Guerrilla cofounder whom Jim Ryan tapped to lead PlayStation Studios in 2019:
"The group has more than 25 titles in development for the PS5 [...] nearly half of which are entirely new IP.
There’s an incredible amount of variety originating from different regions, big, small, different genres.”

We know that Sucker Punch might be working on a Multiplayer Game, and Bend Studio is already working on a game that will feature Open-World Elements along with Vehicles. Sony’s XDev team is working on their own game this time as well.
Not to mention there are still many already announced titles that we haven’t gotten much information about, such as Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok.

Hopefully, we do get some information about these titles soon, and Sony will announce some new games as well.
You can expect some of these games to be announced in the next 2 months at some sort of State of Play event since they usually happen around e3 time.

Five page thread, still on the front page:
25 games warrants 25 threads.

Well, I can read that and take that at face value and be happy. I trust in their direction based on pedigree alone.

I also want to see them as they've always been there with Nintendo as far as continuing to create new titles goes.

Not that the immense success and track record don't already speak for itself so I'll spare the conversation and ignore the fanboy banter and just commend them for their consistency.

Yeah... remember when people said that MS buying Bethesda was a response to a threat?
This isn't counting the 250M invested in exclusive deals...

I said, give the man time, he'll deliver.

Good, now tell me how many of those are crossgen.
Some games don't even need all the power of the PS4 to begin with, I don't mind some titles being made in that context--however I would mind games being forced into the crossgen category if the project is ambitious (like cyberpunk 2077 by example).

Anyway, can't wait to see what these games are, I have some ideas for the new IPs:
Wer really are. The. Last. Ones.
War of the gods
Wiped out!
Screwdriver and clunky
Noisy mountain
Famous Third daughter
John and Dexter
Flight club

I don't know what the others could be, and we will probably never see many of these 25 games-games get cancelled-and those that will be made could be years into the future (normal dor AAA).

So that kind of announcement is a wast of our time if there is nothing concrete along with it.

I really do wish Sony would put some effort into more complex games... stop forcing cutscenes/boring gameplay story segements, etc.

But while they aren't 100% my cup of tea, they make really solid gameplay too. Which TBH sometimes makes their games even more disapointing for me, because I do feel they have far more potential to do more with their tools/devs than just make insanely good looking yet fairly simple games.
? A lot of what you're saying is not even a Sony concept that is simply a concept in game development I mean are you telling me no fucking cutscenes exist in other games by other publishers? You telling me there's a publisher that exists where not a single game they made at a boring gameplay segment in your opinion?

My friend the criticism you have is a natural one that is going to exist based on any fucking Publishers games you disagree with that is not some standard created by Sony and Exclusive by Sony or anything weird like that.

That's like trying to fucking say you wish you could go into a McDonald's and they could put some more effort into one of the employees not being mean to you and you not possibly having soggy fries or something like that completely disregarding such a thing is going to occur at any fast food establishment because individual behaviors are going to differ....

So I'm sorry but the thing you're talking about is not some sort of standard as if Sony has a special rule for all developers that says there must be a force cutscene in boring gameplay segment lol

You could argue that shit about any Publishers games.....

I'm literally playing RE8 and that shit exist in the game. Forced scenes where you can't skip compared to the other cutscenes, "boring segments". Shit, did you think that was some rule where Capcom was like "make sure that segment fucking sucks guys, we NEED IT TO BE BAD"?

No.. I never said no other companies do it.

What does that have to do w/ me wishing Sony would have their talented devs do less of things I dislike?

I can't even think of a Sony game I've played that didn't have them..

And most of the other games I play don't have them, nor do they have long/boring segments where you aren't really playing. Some do, and I criticize them as well.. take a fucking chill pill.

Because the entire industry still does those things which means you're not really talking about something exclusive to one publisher as if there's a mandated rule to do something that you "dislike" it simply means you could fucking dislike anything from any damn publisher.

I can't even think of a Sony game I've played that didn't have them..

That's nice

I can't think of many modern AAA games that don't have them either, you're not fucking talking about a "Sony" thing.... I don't even think you could list a modern AAA game that has zero forced scene and zero "bOrInG sEgMenTs". Sir...you are asking for something that can be argued with just about any fucking game. I'm playing several games by publishers not by Sony that have all that shit you are talking about it.

I don't care about other games nor is that what this thread is about.

I play Sony's games because I think for the most part they are great... and they have some of the most talented devs in the world.

They also commonly have things that really aggravate me, and make them hard for me to replay as I don't wan to deal with that shit.

I would like these games I like to not feature things I hate.

Also would like you to seek help.

Sony is basically why I play games on consoles; these things are not, in fact, common, in the games I normally play on PC.

But sure, for everyone elses sake I wish the entire industry would stop doing these things, even though I don't play those games.

That better?

Amazing news. I think some people were worried Sony would be blown away by Microsoft's acquisitions, but the breadth and variety of games coming looks like it will be amazing. And there's so much proven talent there.

This was why I was so excited when I heard Sony were expanding their teams.

Remove the word “game” from the formula and put in interactive, you get interactive videos.

Sony games are not about the player, it’s not about YOU as the player, buts it’s Disney like story formed by corporate focus groups.

A video game is an electronic game that involves interaction with a user interface or input device – such as a joystick, controller, keyboard, or motion sensing device – to generate visual feedback for a player.

Just to clarify this once more, I'm perfectly fine if people think that. Personally, for me, IMHO I do take some issue with that and I would be happier if they did things slightly differently lol.

Oh yeah, we endure stuff that's far more moronic than me confessing my adoration for Nintendo games.
But they do things in different ways.
You can be a god in spiderman and get stomped in horizon or gow, they don't play in the same way.

Sure the difference is not as radical as your example, a platform and a strategic rpg, but if we follow your line of thoughts, isn't also true that all the mario, dk, kirby, zelda, luig's mansion etc. are basically the same game?!

I mean, there is more difference between spiderman and horizon than mario odissey and galaxy...

What have I just read? I mean people actually play Sony exclusives before even writing this kind of stuff?

They need to bring back Twisted Metal. I know it's not a top seller franchise but they should give it a shot with a lower budget that's less risky, we live in a age of F2P multilayer games and battle royale and Twisted Metal franchise can easily work like those games. Release as a PSN Plus free game and make it a lower budget game with only a few cars and couple of maps and slowly build on it with new content updates. If it's a bit they can add so much more, if it flips they can abandon it after a few updates.
