I think you would love sekiro! Pure offence, rush down the enemy's and annihilate! It's so good.

Might give it a try ;) But also I'm so BC-sensitive. Once I go to next gen it's near impossible to touch any previous "filth", so I always giveaway my previous console/games. Problem is my PS4 games are 99% digital. Might play the 3rd DLC of Fenyx when I totally clean what's left on Returnal.

PS4 pro version of Sekiro runs beautiful on PS5 :) give that "Filth" a go you won't regret it :D ...I do need to pick up Fenyx at some point but Returnal and Ratchet first!

The Man With The Golden Dong
Nice job, although I'm so damn confused thinking this game would take most people 30-40 hours to complete. 11 hours sounds like either Bo_Hazem Bo_Hazem very good at shooters, or the game isn't as hard as people think.

Question: Do you normally replay games? And regardless of your answer to that question, are you going to replay this one?

No way I’m finishing this in 11 hours lol. I think it will be a 30-40 hr game for me before the end game stuff.

Great review!

Great post dude. I just started and have no idea how to know where to go some times. Like I press the right stick and I thought it would give me a way point. Any way to know for sure?

Added to the OP tips:

- Buy a figurine!: A friend of mine told me that it grants you a second life (never tried it myself).

Should give it a try! Fenyx is amazing! 1st DLC is shite though, but if you love only puzzle then it's great, the 2nd DLC is great, now need to play the 3rd. The main game is wonderful and would give it 9/10. So much fun!

To me the difficulty is impossible because i don't have a PS5 yet. 🥺

Hope you manage to get yours soon, mate!

Played 5 hours and haven't even beat the first boss yet.

Yeah it's all dependent. Sometimes you just can be lucky. Also playing without a headset can be very hard.

All of them are true, varies from one person to another, some even suggesting 100 hours. I'm usually very good with shooters. I usually don't replay games, so usually put them at the highest difficulty and give it one go, and usually play every side mission before finishing the game as after beating the main story it kinda gives me a dull feeling. I might play the game and finish the golden gates, not the whole game, and check out the house if there is anything left.

Great review!

I was so hyped that I watch every single preview, that helped me go on cruise control when got the game. I usually spend so much time exploring. This 11 hours is a thorough play not a speed run, I've went to nearly all blue doors to discover secrets and precious loot. AC Valhalla was 162 hours, Death Stranding 114 hours and still didn't totally finish every side mission, AC Odyssey is like 250+ hours for the base the and DLC's, same for MGS5 and The Witcher 3.

Great post dude. I just started and have no idea how to know where to go some times. Like I press the right stick and I thought it would give me a way point. Any way to know for sure?

You need to read the details in the menu, but the pale green rectangular door is where to go, and the red one is the main boss of the level. Avoid the yellow with star above, those are horde mode and the rewards seem not worth it. The blue triangle are side missions, I advice you to visit them all as you can get permanent loot as well that would help in traversal and exploring the game and reaching some loot.

One tip I wanted to share is to use the Hollowseeker gun. Once you upgrade its stats and unlock weapon traits, this thing can wreck. Especially if you have homing, serrated, and portal beam. Last one can be whatever. But those 3 in tandem can help destroy enemies and bosses in mere seconds. I cruised through the 5th and 6th biome with that weapon/traits. I'm sure there are other OP combos, but so far this is one that should be used when you have the opportunity.

Finally getting the hang of this game, I am not much for arcade/rogue games tbh, but I am enjoying the challenge. I am on the 3rd biome at the moment, and the best thing that's worked for me, is to keep the little astronaut so that I can respawn, sometimes you can find an parasite that will accomplish the same thing too, and they stack! (Two lives in one run basically), and I carry a big thing of health. Dash is your friend, when in doubt, dash it out. Great set of tips that you provided!

Agreed! This my favorite weapon thus far, eventually it becomes a beast once you get it all spec'd out.

I'm having trouble getting through Crimson Waste. Those sentients are rough.

Should I fully explore the first area each run to upgrade stuff or just got straight to the second area?

Yup, this Holloseeker is so good, especially if you aim at the head for the mini bosses. Carbine comes second, Pistol is third and has the most stopping power.

No need, really, but you do it as you enter the house several times with more story revealed.

Gotta say, Sony seems to be good about making sure their published games are quality. From animations to graphics to how good the controls feel.

I think I saw a comparison to Control and I can totally see that. Feels pretty similar.

Anyway, I'll vote on the poll later when I get more time in.

If this game is truly 1080p then TTAU to 1440p then checkerboarded to 2160p then I'm really shocked! It looks so nice for that and decently sharp in 4K HDR at 55".

Great post.
Any insight into how obtainable the platinum is? After beating the game, whats left? Any annoying clean up / collectibles?

The only Platinum I had was by accident in the Maneater shark game. I don't platinum my games, I just play every possible side mission and clean all collectables if possible then finish the game and delete it.

For platinum I would suggest collecting all necessary suit upgrades (grappling hook, diving underwater upgrade, walking on lava etc) then go clean the maps.

Nice. Enjoy getting all the xenoglyphs, sun pieces and hosue sequences?

I thought when u collect all the sun pieces it might give you a different ending. As she says something when you finish the came and start in the echoing ruins etc.

I checked nearly all of them, but still many of those scattered, small ones seem to be around. I'll check that out later.

Game looked interesting really looked like Anthem

Very atmospheric! I would love a more story-based, open-world type like this as well. Something like Mass Effect: Andromeda, not too big maps but decently sized.

only 11 hours? I hope theres a lot more to unlock otherwise I'll wait for a sale. Indie roguelites usually offer hundreds of hours of value for less.

I’ve just checked my playtime and I’m at 9 hours 36 and I’m up to the 3rd biome. For me the game is hard, but not too hard that it is stopping me from making steady progress. I’m enjoying thoroughly searching the 1st biome and it is surprising how much it can change. Great game. The way that I seem to be progressing, I reckon I’ll be in the 20-30 hour camp, but I’m certainly in no rush. Plus, once it is finished there are other challenges to take part in, with online leaderboards.

My two friends who bought this game are both complaining to me about crashes that have erased their progress. I've only played for 90 minutes or so, but jesus christ that's lame given the lack of save functionality. Was this mentioned in reviews anywhere? It's all over Reddit, Era, etc.

Not only, depends on your progress. Also you can replay as much as you like, and there are still some collectables and story elements even after I finished. I'll check them out later and report back.

I just tried the game out for myself and I love the way it controls. The shooting feels good and really liking the setting. So far so good!

Another quick tip. You can rebind controls.

Rebind dodge to l1 or r1
Leave circle empty. This increases you reactions to dodging and makes it easier to combine with jumps.

Made me much better and staying alive lol

Yes! Even better DonJorginho DonJorginho suggested making L1 as jump and R1 as dodge. I kept it as it is, actually.

Didn't rush myself, was extremely thorough exploring everything possible. Some areas are inaccessible due to the lack of suit upgrade, so I'll check them out later.

Great write up! Really wish I could play it, sounds like my type of game. Sony needs to fix the PS5 stock issues!!!

Thanks! Hope you get yours soon, mate!

I think some are reporting that due to glitches tide to the 2 extra suits. I didn't use the extra suits, only used the main one because Selene is so beautiful and don't want to have 100% tint.

Never played a rogue game. I. Find the bullet hell stuff pretty intimidating in all honesty. Is it honestly that bad? Cause the game really looks like a winner, but possibly not for me

Can you change the difficulty or just one setting? Not an issue or looking for easy mode, just wondering

Is there HDR in the game? I've heard that it doesn't?

From what I see, it has by default and looks much better than the very dim footage on youtube that is HDR crushed to SDR.

70 bucks for an 11 hour game lmao

Trophy wise, only 30% so far.

It's not hard, really. You just to be fully concentrated and don't panic. Wonderful game, highly recommended.

Where did you end up trophy percentage-wise?

30%, here, only had 1 platinum on Maneater by accident as I don't hunt trophies:

Well done

I’m having a very different go at it 🙂

-My first ‘’roguelike/roguelite/whatever’’
-6hrs in
-Still at bionome 1 😆
-Still facing 700 billions closed doors and safes requiring a key I never seem to have 😆😆
-Died approx 150-200 times already (why are there just so many fucking bottomless holes on that planet?? Fucking ground is like downtown Montreal) 😆😆😆
-I’m thinking of becoming a speedrunner based on that performance ✌🏻

My credentials are : I once finished Zelda 2 multiple times, Simon’s Quest without guides/walkthroughs, beat mike tyson’s punch out playing upside down, Ghost and Goblins/Ghouls and Ghosts, no issues with just about any soulslike 😜

Send help

I don't like rogulike/roguelite games, and I don't play souls games :)

But this just feels like the game I like gameplay wise. Story is nice as well. Also I love space.

I'm guessing the switch 😆
The game has a Alien/sci-fi feel to it , it feels really good and the music and sound effects just add to the feeling , i din't play much yet cause i'm into Ghost of tsushima right now .

BTW, my poll is working well! I've put "Easy" choice to drag the trolls there that don't even own PS5's, let alone Returnal. It's relevant from Moderate and above, that's why I made it expose your name when you vote, lol. You can change your vote anytime though.

This game seems really good. Pretty different from standard Sony 1st party fare. I watched some streams of it last night - didnt know anything about it or have any interest before that. Some really interesting combat and enemy patterns. Seems a new franchise is born.

Don’t get me wrong, I kick ass at and love dead space, mass effect is awesome, and I’m not the greatest gamer but I’m no pushover either, but I feel like I’m missing something in that roguelite game. I feel like I’m struggling way more than most and progress just takes forever and I’m unsure why

I already passed that house 83 times. It’s just as locked as every other door I encounter everywhere

At this point I’m still having fun, but this won’t last, because a 1% progress every hours or 2 is not my idea of a good time
