The Persistence Enhanced Runs at a Dynamic 4K@60 or 1080p@30 with Ray Tracing on PS5 & XSX; No RT Available on XSS

We're really pushing and maximizing what we can do with ray tracing technology, both on consoles and PC. On next-gen consoles, we're going to have Performance Mode which runs at dynamic 4K and 60 frames per second, and our Quality Mode, which runs at dynamic 1080 and 30 frames per second with ray traced effects (this mode is not available on Xbox Series S).
What's also great is the instant loading after dying and when moving between decks, there's no sense of stopping anymore, it feels so much more believable in the world where the game doesn't stop you between events. You jump in and come straight out the other way. The Persistence Enhanced just flows and holds together so much tighter on next-gen and PC.
The adaptive triggers and haptic feedback on the PS5 controller are really quite something. I'm sure you've used it on a bunch of stuff but with regards to the weapons and the melee combat in The Persistence Enhanced, if you play on PS5 it definitely feels a lot more immersive in your hands. You feel the pull of the trigger, you feel the cold steel against that guy's skull when you hit him with the lance.

UPDATE] There had been a mistake with the details of the Quality Mode. More specifically, The Persistence Enhanced will run at dynamic 4K and 30 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X when ray tracing effects are enabled, instead of the dynamic 1080p we had been told previously. The article has been updated to reflect that.

wtf are they doing with RT that they drop from 4K60 to 1080p30? wtf???? that's 1/8 of the pixels per second... like... how?
the only justification for this would be if the entire game is pathtraced in that mode... but even then... like wow
Read the article. They are doing the complete set of RT features on the consoles. GI, Shadows and Reflections. That is going to hit hard.

but still... 12.5% of pixels per second..., they lose 87.5% of performance... that is crazy! How much do you lose on an RTX card if you activate all RTX features in Control? I bet not that much.
maybe they should have another mode that only has reflections at 1080p60 or something. I feel reflections are something that just don't look good in screenspace so that's the biggest problem area they should tackle and treat the rest as a bonus if you really want it

Dynamic 1080p/30fps RT on next-gen consoles for a game that doesn't even look better than 2014's Alien Isolation? Go home Firesprite, you're drunk.
Damn. I know nothing about this game. But you ruined it before it began. I was expecting raytracing to trace right into my eyes at 1080/30fps.

Ok I opened the trailer. That raytracing is wack for 1080p. Prolly a indie studio i aint even gonna hate. Im just out of this thread.

Starting to think ray tracing is the worst thing to happen to video games for a long time.

Ray tracing seems kinda overhyped. Too expensive for what it brings
From what I understand Ray tracing will save lots of dev time and effort, as they will no longer have to spend time doing tricks (like having to manually bake shadows for each texture and such) for graphical effects that RT will just do naturally.

It also looks 5x better if you care about visuals at all.

Correct, faking shit cost a lot of time in development.

1080p@30fps on PS5 and XSX! Don't even wanna know what that means to XSS that's why they scrapped it.

Game looks nothing special anyway.
