Let me just say, doe those complaining about price. Blame Nintendo, who continually sell games like Zelda BOTW and Mario odyssey at $59.99 and sell tens of millions of copies because of their quality. Sony is simply trying to imitate that and surpass that. Hence why ps4 stopped at $299 and why they haven’t really dropped their first party recent releases on ps5 in price yet. Miles morales is selling like crack at $49.99 and $69.99 with the original remaster respectively.

I can buy MM w/ Spider-Man remaster on OfferUp, sealed, from a guy 20 minutes away with 55 transactions.

However, most uninformed gamers will pay full price.

With respect to Nintendo, they’ve historically discounted games late in a console’s cycle. This isn’t new for them.

From one stupid article I read the game is quite challenging, which is fine by me. As long as the gameplay loop is really enjoyable, I’m all for it.
There is a patch coming but If someone told me "this was the easiest game I ever played" and right next to him a person said "this is the hardest game I ever played"
I would not bat an eye at either. Well maybe the first one lol.
The RNG can be really wide(though it among other things is being patched.) and while some can be mitigated there are some fucking doooooozies that I ran into that had me laughing out loud when they dropped or when I got them randomly and I was like...oh my god that's going to be a deal breaker for some folks lol

can you elaborate on anything else that needs patching or is that off-limits?

I hate day 1 patches. They make it harder and harder to want to be a physical collector.

Why are they still regularly reducing big PS4 hits like TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima, then?

The reason they haven't reduced PS5 games yet is most likely that they don't have to because there's fuck all other games out for the system, and hardcore early adopters are willing to pay.

Hell I was half considering paying $59 for Sackboy recently cos I'm that starved of next gen games. Not that it looks like a bad game, but it's not something I'd usually even consider paying that for.

Unfortunately, I don't think so. I think Sony will do everything they can to keep their games full price for many months or years, similar to Nintendo. I think we've been spoiled on quick AAA price drops on PS3 and PS4 and that it's coming to an end.

Demon's Souls is still $70. Miles Morales and Sackboy have not seen price drops either, and I don't think they will anytime soon.
ahh thanks man. i hope you're not right, but i could certainly see it happening. I really never understood why they dropped the prices so quickly before since they were selling. I was also spoiled by best buy gamers club for a long time. really miss that!

Thanks Karak Karak . I’ve always enjoyed your reviews. I can see the RNG being a huge factor in the ease of a play-through, they’re supposed to patch it to be less random and more balanced? Perhaps you can’t say more, but if you can, I am curious.

I have no problem paying $70 for a game IF it's a truly awesome game. Back when N64 came out, when I finally found a system after a few weeks, I found no games available. Ended up grabbing Mario from Funcoland marked up to $100. Worth every penny of my grandma's money.

Seriously though, the first party price of N64 games may as well have been $100. I would pay more than that today, to get the same games remastered.

Sony thinks that Nintendo's secret is only in their pricing strategy, and thought if they emulate it, they can get away with it too. Only, Nintendo uses other voodoo magic , and still release Captain Toad for only $40. Destruction Allstars at $70 shows a lack of nuance in their strategy, but I don't blame them for seeing what they can get away with in the market's unusual state.

They are going to kill it for awhile, because of a lack of next gen games and greater gaming demand from covid. As everything returns to homeostasis, it will be the same pattern as always we saw on PS4 and 3.

More on topic...so is this it? The first next gen game? Remember Demon's Souls is a remake, spidey is cross-gen...is this the first title with no caveat?

Lol nope, game looks hot but no extra suit can get Putin with a booty interesting, sorry! 😂

Imagine if they had actually designed a beautiful character, a new Samus or Lara, missed opportunity for sure. I don’t get what they were aiming for with this character, worst one so far this gen, after Craig.
Maybe they aren’t horny little children and view their work in a not super horny way?

Well its just impressions which we can give of the first 2 levels like the other videos and such but-

I got a negative on my suit that said "does much less damage while standing still" and then basically got one that said "does much less damage while moving..."
lol.

I think that the huge negative modifiers that can hit your reload timing(which is pushed as something you need to do all the time) are odd. I saw a streamer get one that did a ton of damage to them whenever they did the overload reload. Which is rough for many people who are trying to balance all these other things, then suddenly the game punishes them for doing the normal action?
Again I review for everyone hardcore and casual so I am not just here to be like "dur da dur I love hard games." I do for sure. However, I also want more folks playing them and the devs seem to as well so that's good.

I also think RNG for the land generation, rng for the weapons, RNG for the special items, and RNG for the parasites, and rng for enemy groupings, AND rng for the negatives in the malignant chests can be a bit much. it's sometimes a bit like a reverse loot box. And depending on how those other systems were generated for your playthrough I could see some people just not wanting to head butt through it. Also no save so of course if you restart well...ya

I am stubborn. I am not hitting that button ever. However, I watched one streamer go through the first level with no negative stuff. Not even a single thing.

I think the worst one I got was a negative to my up-close attack and a negative to my running(lowered my shield) and then spawned into a location where a tower was giving everyone shields that needed a up-close attack to break lol. And it was a massive open base. I tried and yep died. Though I did better than I assumed.

Interesting stuff. So the RNG can REALLY affect how frustrating a particular playthrough can be at times. I haven’t played many rogue-likes but that’s been a point of frustration for me before (obviously a game like Hades handled this well). Maybe the incoming patch would be a “we’ll make sure you don’t get extra fucked” kind of tweak where you don’t get double or triple stacking negative RNG penalties that make the game a slog, some sort of safeguard if you will.

Do you think the lack of permanent upgrades in the first two levels increases the difficulty or did you find your skill increase proportionally as time goes on making the difficulty seem more manageable?

Not sure if serious….

I've always thought the price per hours played argument was a bit ridiculous. People pay hundreds of dollars to watch their favorite band play live for a couple of hours. Skydiving can't be cheap. NFL tickets etc...

No one bats an eye but God forbid a studio release a 10 hour game and charges full price for it.

Am I crazy if I say I like the sound of all those negative modifiers potentially stacking?

But then I also turned the heat all the way up as soon as I could when playing Hades. High heat runs are life.

You guys enjoy. I can't fork off $70 for it. I'd rather spend that on R&C.
Why not play the 10 other games?
i don’t get this..

finally you get a new IP
And all you want to play is old stuff.
R&C is like the perfect PS+ game

Hopefully returnal has a heat-like system to give it more replayability.

I’m being critical because I’m buying a PS5 to play it. In reality, by the time I find a playstation, there will probably be a price cut (on returnal) anyway.
