Judging by amazon.com bestseller charts, the hype is mild at best. Returnal is way behind Nier Replicant, for example. I really hope this game doesn't bomb because of its price, because it looks pretty good.

I dont expect this game to sell big, but it wont be because of the price tag. Its a niche game that i have a feeling will be very good at its core just not for the masses.

Thats why its odd seeing the media trying to spin playstation brand the way they have and sony only becoming 'obsessed' with blockbusters when they clearly arent... their portforlio is vastly diversified. I do hope people support the game if its something that interests them though!

Hey Martin Robinson death stranding was only released a year and half ago you clown! And sony released Dreams last year as well. Its amazing how one quote can apparently warp the whole of reality.

Also in what fucking world where days gone 2 is cancelled to instead make a new IP is a publisher taking less risks.

And finally making horizon zero dawn was alot more creative and daring than farting out another killzone game.

That's Sony for you _ in Portugal, every other publisher (if they bother to translate) gives you the subtitles in Brazilian PT _ the language differences are comparable to UK and US English for instance. Then you got every single Sony exclusive, first party or not, with all the package (subs, menus, voice) in the mother language for us miserable 10 million few peasants. Those little things are noticed of course, and became one of the many reasons why this is Sonyland.

It means that is nowhere near a triple A game production. Even the PS3 Uncharted games had better detail in the levels. In the end no matter how powerful the machine is, making better graphics is expensive. Upping up resolution or adding more effects: cheap. Making a more detailed model and shaders? Expensive AF.

Every HouseMarque game is incredible but people always try to not give them all the praise they deserve. Gameplay first is written on every page on neogaf but when a studio does it near perfection for decades by now people come and say „lul not worth the money“

Maybe because it doesn't use Roman letters. Funny thing we usually use Hindi numeral system vs Arabic numeral system used in most English/Latin languages. Chinese is pretty hard, Arabic for basics can be easy, but the deeper you get the harder it gets, and that's from an Arabic teacher

Yup, those what people think as "small" regional support are critical. MS in a more corporate way would say "it's not worth it", then they wonder that competition is not existed outside English-speaking countries. Heck, we can't even buy Xbox (since OG) here officially, nor we have regional store like on PS. It's funny when Windows have a much better localization, maybe they need to take some notes from them.

You lose everything upon death, all your upgrades and buffs that you gained in your current cycle will be dropped and you spawn back at your crashed ship

I have only made it to the second biome in the game so far, but as of now when you die you lose practically everything, only retaining your permanent upgrades which are mostly environmental tools and items that allow you to use equipment and fast travel within the world. All your weapons, upgrades, bonuses, abilities, consumables, and currency are all gone (except for Ether which allows you to obtain a random item at the start of your run or open some chests within the world).

Sounds pretty rough for $70. I wonder how long he's played the game and only played level 1 and 2?

I get that roguelikes are a style, but a very harsh roguelike is designed this way specifically because you have less art assets in the game and it's usually much shorter than a normal campaign. You spend 60%+ of you total playtime playing the first two levels over and over.

From the 45 min of gameplay I saw in the intro, actually the story was the most interesting part for me. I'll definitely pick this up at some point, further down the road after some sales.

Err not really. Portuguese here also, i don't agree that is the reason at all why this is Sonyland. In fact most people here just enjoy subtitles and not voiced characters be it in movies or games.
Portugal is Sonyland since the boom of the PS2 and Xbox never really got traction here. People, that don't have knowledge of gaming, refer to consoles as playstations even if it is a nintendo console. Xbox is pretty non-existant here and it always was like that. I had to order games from uk, because when i went to any store there was a small rack with xbox games, the rest were playstation games. This during the most successfull gen for MS (X360 era)

Yeah, it's a very very strong brand. Same thing happened with the k7 players, people just called them walkmans even if they were from other brands.
