I mean, if it happened and it was done really well I'd be down AF. I'll always love the MGS series.

Though it's still so sad how MGSV panned out. I remember going in SO reserved as I thought the idea of MGS in an open-world like setting just wouldn't work at all. But my god did it. It worked out SO well! So much so that I think MGSV had some of the best gameplay in the entire series. It's just so sad that the rest of the game was botched. Some high highs, and low lows.

I really wish we could've gotten a complete and solid package. The series deserved a better ending than what it received.

I bought the collection on ps3 (I think that's 2,3,4) and I got two of them on ps+ (ps4). 2 is on the ship, right?
It's just not clear to me what I'm supposed to do. Crawl around or something.

You can call the people in the codec menu (Which will be Ocelot if its 2, and you are on the ship) at any time and they will tell you what your goal is. PM me if you have any stupid questions and I'll help you out.

If you are serious about getting into it and want to give it a chance I'd actually be pretty excited to play it with you in that way, its basically my favourite game of all time. I can exchange discord info via PM if thats easier for chatting.

I was debating getting The Twin Snakes until I saw the prices average around $129-$200 on eBay. Settled for getting MGS1 on a PS1 emulator for my tablet. Seems like I made the right choice based on some of the comments in this thread, had no idea so many people disliked the remake.

You definitely did the right thing but still give TTS a shot. A lot of the complaints are way overblown, for example when it comes to difficulty. The original game was super easy and yes the first-person mode makes it easier. However if you play trying to get the dog tags, it makes the game actually challenging. Also most MGS fans know the first game like the back of their hands so an addition like that can really help freshen the game up.

What was MS's plan if the google deal didnt fall through for kojima or if sony changed their mind? What happened to all rumors pointing to blue point doing something with MGS?

Don't get me wrong, I do like Twin Snakes, it was my first proper brush with the series and I was happy it came to the cube, (I even brought it especially on import at the time..) but I think in the past I have read here quite a few people not liking it compared to the PS1 version..

It was only hated because it was on gamecube and not ps2.
Same reason why gamepass is hated on Xbox by sony fans.

This does nothing for me except make me further question if I even care about next gen whenever Sony bothers to find a way to sell systems to consumers instead of scalpers. Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but we're now 5 months past launch. Getting a system below double msrp is still a tedious chore that never works out. The generational claim has proven to be false. I've read literally nothing about a next gen game coming out anytime soon that excites me --> literally nothing. And literally, on the 5th month anniversary since launch, I am reading about a collection of old games being repackaged as a PS5 game.

If Sony's primary competition wasn't likewise treading water without any next gen games and trying to pitch why old games should be rented on a next gen console, I may have already moved on.

So yeah, grumpy me says yawn, and this generation has had the worse launch across the board since Saturn.

There's no way in hell this is real with Twin Snakes in there. I can only imagine the licensing nightmare they'd have to get through to make that possible, as well as removing cameos in the game and completely re-recording (and reprogramming) the Psycho Mantis scene. "I see you've played God of War..."

I guess if Konami cared enough to figure out the legal side, and if they still had access to the original files so they could make the alterations and if they're willing to get certain members of the cast back to do whatever contextual voice changes they need to do...

But that's a lot of if. I wouldn't be upset if it happened - I love the Metal Gear games and would love to play Twin Snakes in 4k with trophies - but I just can't see it.

Kojima wants absolutely nothing to do with MGS. Kojima and MGS could independently be associated with Microsoft at the same time, but there is no way they are together. He has been trying to escape the series for 20 years, he isn't about to chain himself back to it.

I think you're reaching, he didn't say that at all. Forseeing something and being contacted because other opportunities dried up are two very different things.

Not necessarily. It's his baby and it's final days were ripped from him.
He may like the idea of having a supervisor or role as producer in the future, if not necessarily wanting to devote all his creative energy to it.
